Disneyland 70th speculations and news

Agreed... I ended up "pixie dusting" the vast majority of my trader pins earlier this year on our most recent cruise. I kept a few favorites and all the special event ones and it is still a lot of pins! May have to go over them a second time. I have one popcorn bucket from Tokyo Disneyland and kind of wish I hadn't bought it... it has been in my closet ever since. These days I try to stick with consumable souvenirs. Shirts, pens, food, that kind of thing.

Does this key just meant for display? It looks like it's just a $250 piece of plastic that lights up and plays music. I must be missing something?

Unless I am missing something is it just an XL version of the other key. Even if I wanted one for Display, I would not spend $250 for a piece of cheap plastic.

This FOMO really puzzles me. Whether or not you are able to get to a park to buy one, why would you want one? What do people do with these things at home? The only thing I can think of is resell them, but is there that big a market for that?

I don't understand the desire to buy a big piece of junky plastic or why anyone would buy one marked up on eBay. I've always wondered where people keep these things. Maybe they all live in mansions and need to fill the space.

It's funny because my family loves Disney and Disney trips, but it's not a huge part of our day-to-day lives or decorations. Not intentional, just kind of weird when I think about it! I love the Big Thunder jigsaw and want to find one!

I like the art pieces and I don't buy them unless I on exactly where I am going to put it. I don't understand the popcorn buckets and sippers. They might be fun for the duration of the trip, but they must end up in the garbage soon afterwards.

Same. I gave away a lot of pins from Disneyland and DVC gives aways on my last cruise. I have a drawer dedicated to pixie dusting on my cruises.

Nice idea! I have a cruise to Hawaii coming up in a few weeks, I'll get rid of my "no-longer-wanted Disney stuff" by pixie dusting it away

I actually put the DL Key (the regular/original one) to some use. I have it hanging on a hook on my nightstand. When DH (who is an early riser) wants to wake me/get me out of bed earlier than my body seems to want to, he sets the key to play the fantasmic music and that seems to do the trick

That's a good idea! Maybe I'll keep my favorites but take some of the others on our upcoming trip and see if I can Pixie Dust some kids somewhere. (And before anyone says anything, yes, I mean by asking the adult with said kid.)

I don't judge anyone by what they collect. There's so much cute stuff, I get it ! I have been trying to limit to things that have some use. Still, I have an unnecessary amount (two shelves full) of Disney mugs in my kitchen and we actually don't even use our glasses anymore, including for water. It's more fun to drink out of the mugs lol. I also get a magnet for every new-to-me Disney resort where I stay and that takes up half the fridge door. There's Disney art in my home office, too. Doesn't take much to bring some charm to one's day.

I just try to avoid things that I would end up storing and forgetting, which is partly why I don't collect pins (the other reason is $$$, if I got started I don't know where it would end )

Yes, it is meant to be mounted and displayed. I thought I posted the specs in this thread. I'll look for it.

Normal people have Disney rooms as well. I don't per se, but over the years have ended up with some random Disney things. The lego castle, a framed Wish steel cut piece, a BB-8 Droid, a framed Big Thunder jigsaw puzzle... Hanging a giant key on the wall woudn't look that out of place at this point.

This is true. I personally have a lot of Disney things, but most are in a box in the closet, used in my kitchen, are small enough to be on display, go on the Christmas tree or are in my jewelry box. I have a lot of things I've gotten over the years that were "must-haves" at the time that have rarely seen the light of day since--Gold anniversary ears, Dream ears, a leather anniversary purse, and things like that. Now I generally stick with clothing or small items and not many of those things, either. I do wish they had nicer jewelry like they used to but most of it is junk or well out of my pay range.

But every now and then something special catches my eye...which doesn't mean it fares better than its predecessors once I get home. Truth is I'm better off with wearable items.

And speaking of BB-8, my son (adult with a family) begged me to get him one one year, which was not fun to get home, since I flew with carry-on only, but worth it to see the joy on his face . He also asked me if I could get him some kind of SW Lego thing--I think it was a spaceship of some sort--and that was my introduction into the world of adult Lego sets. I was foolishly expecting a little box that would cost around $25 which was far, far off the mark
