Disneyland 70th speculations and news

Thanks! I’m following along
I didn't realize that reserve area is behind… I wouldn’t be able to see fireworks in the castle which are my priority…
Reserve area is behind what? The Town Square parade viewing is usually in the region of the teal circle below.

The red arrows indicate the path of the first show. The second show goes in the opposite direction.

I’ve booked the 70th tour. I’m not sure about its value really. Especially seeing as you go on attractions and get LL for a specific ride doesn’t seem that impressive if you’re already utilising LL. I’m doing a long trip from Australia so using one of my non LL days for the tour.
I’m a bit disappointed that there seems to be no longer Walt’s apartment access, with this tour replacing the other one. I will see what the feedback is like closer to my dates and make the final call.

I am stoked for the paint the night reserved seating (although agree fireworks castle view would have been amazing.) I have reservations for the dining package but probably will cancel those depending on feedback and can just camp out if I want to watch it a 2nd time. And a snack is also nice.

I reserved the tour but will be watching to see where the reserved area is. I want to watch fireworks directly after so if it's near small world I'll cancel it. Just my plan!
What if the parade was at Town Square (facing the train station)? You would still need to work your way down Main Street to watch the fireworks.

I have both Plaza Inn and the tour booked. The more I look at it, the tour really doesn't seem worth it to me. 45 min of a two hour tour will be taken up by the boat, the train and the LL attraction. Will the guide be sharing history on the boat and/or train? If not, half of our tour will be spent listening to generic pre-recorded narrations. If both packages include comparable parade viewing, is an hour tour, popcorn, and a keepsake worth $65 more than a meal?

The description says "Save time and skip the standby line for an attraction that’s fun for all ages." The LL attractions that are available for "all ages" include the following.
Edit to add... A cool thing would have been to include the Walt animatronic on the tour. I wonder if they didn't add it because they still aren't sure it will be ready.

I SO VERY much hoped it would be a visit to the Walt Disney Animatronic! Boo

I just got a call from Guest Services regarding the 70th tour. He was very nice and said the viewing area would either be near Small World or the castle area. He said Disneyland is going to test both locations but since the SW area was used previously for the Halloween Tour - it will most likely be there.

As for the time, he said they are leaning toward the 8:45PM. He said the momento given out will most likely a pin or a set of commemorative cards. Remember, I called and emailed yesterday. He said the original plan for the tour was to include the new Walt show in the Opera House but it had to be scrapped from the tour. He said the tour is scheduled to run through the summer for now.
He said he would call me again and reach out when I was there in May.

Oh wow, you found out a lot of information! Thank you!

This doesn't sound promising about the new Walt show opening on time. :sad1:

The parade doesn't go in front of the castle so the viewing area would have to be from the side of the hub. Still, that view - of the floats coming towards you and then turning up Main Street, would be my preference over Town Square or Small World.

The HUB would be the castle area I guess.

I'm going to see what needs up happening. I go in June so will cancel if I don't like it.

@LKing Do you have a picture of the HUB viewing area?

I am not an expert on reserved seating. I only know there they normally tell me I CAN'T watch from.

I think the teal area below is used for fireworks. I believe that they sometimes use the region of the purple circle for reserved parade seating (not 100% sure).

I'll be there this weekend and will try to take some pictures of the different viewing areas.

Thanks yes that area is used for the parade viewing - big enough to accomodate a separate area for wheelchairs as well and then can have a popcorn cart available for the popcorn treats you get. Thank you for the pics in advance.

Plus, there are usually benches there, right? If so, it sounds like an ideal location.popcorn::

It takes a float approximately 20 min to make it from SW to Town Square. Wikipedia says PTN is a 17 min parade. If it starts at SW at 8:45 pm, it should end at Town Square about 10 min before fireworks start. I think it makes sense to let people stay in their seats, don't you?

It would be worth it to me if it was that location, if they included the new Walt animatronic, and they let tour guests stay in those seats for fireworks.

I’m going in July so I have time to watch and wait

Is there worry that the Walt animatronic won’t open on July 17th?
I havent heard that yet

I think the HUB viewing area would be great. Yes it makes sense that they would let people stay there for the fireworks.

I don’t think there is worry about that. The Walt animatronic could not be part of the 70th tour and it was originally slated to be part of the tour.
