Going in early August and I will be extremely bitter if the Haunted Mansion is closed that early for the overlay, assuming August 22 is the first day it opens which is really early. Excited for Paint the Night to come back.

HM typically closes for 18 days for holiday overlay installation. If Halloweentime starts on 8/22, this puts the first day of HM closure on 8/4.

If you want to ride regular HM, I would try to plan at least one day on 8/3 or before.

It will either go down on August 4 or August 11.

We're there 8/2-8/6 so we'll get at least 2 days. This overlay encroachment is a tad ridiculous but I've long argued that the overlay should be limited to post Halloween.

So do you all think this means no parade entertainment from Jan until May (Fresh baked said they already moved Magic Happens into storage)? And what about fireworks from Jan to May?

I'm for sure going to 90's Night

I hope the 70th has more....are getting a new WOC but....everything else is old stuff coming back. SO hope we get more new

Also I do love Disney for telling us all this, so we can plan.

You want to ride OG HM, go before August they have given you a date so we know the ride will be closed about 2-3 weeks before that event.

These are the dates many have been waiting for.

Looks like Halloween is being pushed even earlier into August.

I have the same question. We are going in March. If there are zero parades and few fireworks, no weekday Fantasmic, limited Rapunzel showings, etc. that will be very disappointing for a family with young kids that doesn’t go often.

How crazy is the first day of Food & Wine usually? I am assuming it just clogs up DCA a bit (near the booths). Hopefully it's not too bad....yikes that's our first day!

The booth lines are busy. It helps if you buy your Sip & Savor early at one of the retail stores. Then go to the cashier with the smallest line (usually the farthest away or in Hollywood Land). Get in line just before the booths open and order all of your items at once. Then you just take your receipt and go straight to pick up at each booth. You can space out when you pick up your items through out the day if you want.

Is it likely that 70th merch and decorations will appear before May? I'm going in March and was hoping I might be able to pick up some anniversary souvenirs while I'm there!

They started releasing 70th merch at D23 in August. I'm sure you'll be able to find something in March.

I guess I'm thinking of Disney's 100th. They started that a year in advance and ended on the actual birthday.
The 50th went on and on. They started it around May 2005 and I know it went at least through summer 2006, but I feel like there were vestiges all the way to the end of 2006.

Did you guys hear a scream of excitement from Iowa? That was me.

So glad we decided to go in June! Just hubby and I.

With Fantasmic that will be 5 night time show options this summer?

Wonderous journeys, PTN, Fantasmic, fire of the rising moon, and new WOC?

I'm stoked.
