Disneyland 1/2 Marathon

It would be nice to meet up with some of the WISHers, the only thing that concerns me really is, which airport to fly into and how to get from the airport to DL, did you have to hire a car? or get a cab? or does DL do transportation like WDW does? And is everything for the race within walking distance, I know DL is a lots smaller than WDW but is it easy enough to get to the expo and to and from the race start/finish?

Thanks for all your help :goodvibes

We fly into Orange County (SNA is the airport code) sometimes called John Wayne.

Getting to DL is easy, we usually pre book and Prepay a Super Shuttle, www.supershuttle.com . Sorry don't remember prices you can also pre pay a tip. We use them most times for DL trips.

Yes the race stuff is within walking distance, not bad at all.

Plenty of good people to meet people.

Hope that helps.

Supershuttle also serves LAX. They run about every 30 min. during 9ish am and late afternoon and hourly earlier and later.

Tuesday is last day to sign up with $10 discount.

The airfare is killing me right now. I got a flight to SFO in July for $218 roundtrip, but not seeing anything good for LAX or SNA.

I really want that coast-to-coast metal!!! I've never been to CA Adventure, last trip to DL was 1994.

It's really weird as I used to know DL without a map (grew up on DL as I used to be a West coast girl-made my first visit back in 1965 and have a very special memory of TinkerBell flying out of the Castle), but since I've been going to WDW I had forgotten the few differences between the parks.

Happy Day to all!

OK thansk for all the info guys, now I just have to come up with the $$$ and I will be well on my way to that nice medal :D

I just spoke to Marcia. She's at Disneyland celebrating her mom's birthday (yesterday). 30K people in DL yesterday. That's crowded!

She said California Adventure is going through some extreme re-modeling. Parts of the park is being torn down. New attractions, and entry way.

I told her to take pictures, but she forgot to bring a camera today.

Now we know why there's a new course for the half marathon. On the left, click on Event Details, then click on Course.

Hello all!
I just completed the Princess 1/2 marathon and also just signed up for the DL 1/2. I, too, want that coast to coast medal! Like several of you, I will be going solo, and also haven't been to DL since 1987! Thanks for all of the ideas and tips! Maybe if some of us flying solo are staying at the same hotel, we can meet up and find our way!:)

I am a little nervous about going to DL by myself I have never been before and don't like being confused all alone!

I went solo to DL in 2006 for this race and it is easy. If you can do WDW solo, which is spread out over miles, you can do DLR which is all in one compact area.

We'll be coming out on the 2nd and staying at the Grand Californian. I did the WDW Half, so I'm excited about the Coast to Coast medal. however, I'm even more excited about going to the parks, I haven't been in 30 yrs.

Got our GCV points and now have a reservation at Paradise Pier with teh developer points. Yeah!!!!

I was looking if the course for 2009 was announced, and on another website I read that its not out yet, but since there is a live chat ths week with the race organizers that maybe it will be announced then. But its a pay site to post, so I couldn't ask what they were talking about. Does anyone here know about that live chat?

As for as I can see the official disneysports.com Live chat is Thursday from 3-3:30 and you can presubmit your questions and they will keep up an archive of the session so you can go back and look at it. Don't see that you have to pay anything for it.

Link to it is...

Tracy

Thanks Tracy, I didn't know that existed. Unfortunally when I try to submit a question, I'm not sure its going though. Has anyone else tried to ask a question?

I believe this is the first time they are doing this, so try it and see what happens. Tracy

Just wanted to say HI! I have been checking out this thread to get ready to do the half this year.

I have only been running since December, but am excited to use it as a goal for my training. Survived my first couple 5k races, and actually enjoy them.

Booked my hotel (Super8 on Katella...cheap and nice at $30 a night) so now I just need to officially plan out my training for the next 150 days.

Thanks for all the great ideas and insight you all have. It already has taken some of my nervousness away, since I will most likely be doing this trip solo.

So ya, thank. Have a good week!

-Pat
