Disneyland ½ Marathon Weekend~2012 Check-in!

I am glad we amuse people. I could use more amusement today :goodvibes

So, is anyone wearing a costume for the half?

I want to do an Ariel themed one this time (did Peter Pan for the Tink 1/2) but I'm not sure. I'm supposed to wear my SunRype gear (I got picked as an Active Ambassador for them) but it's kind of ugly. :rotfl2:

The Active Ambassador thing is really neat. They sent me a shirt, running tank top, running shorts, a visor, a jacket and TONS of free products to hand out at races. I probably have 15 boxes full in my closet!

All I have to do is participate in 3-5 events per year and write up a review of what people thought of the products and send in a few pictures.

I may just wear the shirt and pass stuff out the day before and after the race.

What if you wear your Ariel costume and bring the shirt in your drop bag and do a pic in it after the race in the staging area. Then it'll look like you wore it during the race?

No costume for me, but accessories are a big YES!!! Haven't decided what though. I have the mickey ear clips from last year, but I wore those already and my tink mickey ears that I wore for Tink. But for this year... I don't know. I'm going down in a couple of weeks, I'll have to look at the ears and see if anything catches my eye and gives me an idea.

Are you going to wear a costume?

Sarah~ I love free stuff! I agree with the PP, just put the shirt on for a few pics ;)

As for me, I haven't decided. When I wore the Sleeping Beauty costume I got the worst rash on my inner arms from the sequins. BAD IDEA! :rotfl: I would like to get a few partners and dress like the 3 fairies from Sleeping Beauty *hint hint* OR maybe do something cute as a princess.

Every race I want to dress up but I am always afraid that half way in the race I would get frustrated with the costume. So on my last race I had a niece draw a shirt w/ my kids hand prints with Disney Characters on their fingers. Figured that was the most I would do.

I noticed that there is a new video for the WDW Marathon with their course which was pretty neat. Kind of hoping they will do the same thing with DL.

Hate those rashes. I did 2 races in the rain, and even w/ glide on my inner arms, I got rashes. They are so annoying and they last for a couple of days. :headache: Like the fairy idea. Last year I saw 2 girls as Mrs. Potts and Chip in full tea pot/cip costume. No idea how they did 13 in that.

That's how I am, that's why I do the accessories instead of the costume, that way nothing gets in my way.

Just saw the video for the course too and so excited for that race!!!:yay: As for our race... that's what I'm thinking. The course usually comes out during the summer, but I'm hoping we get CarsLand and more time in the parks now that construction is done. The 1st couple of years, we did the parks for the 1st 3 1/2 -4 miles, Anaheim for next 7 or so and then back in the parks and DCA again en route to the finish line. We have to do CarsLand, it screams for us to run down the street coming in for the back of DCA. It's perfect ~ the main road is straight and open for us to have a looooot of fun!

During the full in AK they Everest going and they have runners going on the attraction. Now the park is already going but it would be really cool if the cars ride up and going for the runners. I can hope.

That's the big difference b/w the 2 races. They don't have the rides open during the race, or at least runners being able to ride them. :sad2: I read about being able to hop on rides during the marathon when I was there last year and the 1st thought that came into my mind was I wish they did that in DL. The Matterhorn would be perfect b/c 1~you run right be it so no time lost getting on/off the ride and 2~you're along the course so you can see all the runners still coming in and leaving along that part of the course.

But we do get Angels Stadium which is awesome, although we now get the Braves spring training park next year!

Kim, at the Tinkerbell did you see the ladies who were dressed as traffic cones?

Jen - that is simple enough. I can pull of simple, I think, if you want to do something.

*hint hint* huh? :rotfl:

:rotfl2:

Hey, it could be as simple as black racing skirts, an appropriatly colored top, and fairy hats....easy peasy! ;)

I know I've seen a picture like this before, going to have to look for it.

Ditto.

I did!! It's crazy the costumes people are able to run and run 13 miles in! I'm always in awe of that and the creativity they have.

I toyed with it a costume last year, but it was my first so I decided to focus on finishing the race. Now that I accomplished that, I'm giving more consideration to buying one of those Yoda backpacks and going as a Jedi Knight ala Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back. The only costume part would be the Yoda backpack.

Last year I saw 2 girls as Mrs. Potts and Chip in full tea pot/cip costume. No idea how they did 13 in that.
I saw that group around me for quite a while during the race. At one point, they were off to the side of the course getting assistance as it looked like one of them wasn't doing well.

That's not good. Hopefully they were wearing running clothes under to where they could toss the costume and keep going.

Holy moly! I just bought APs! Thanks to the HUGE price increase coming, we just went ahead and did it.

That's what I did when I went down for Tink in Jan. And w/ the change of date for Tink next year, thankfully it'll still be good. I can't believe how much prices went up and I can only imagine the influx of tix orders Get Travel is going to get this year for the race.

I remember being so glad that the AP I got right before the Tinkerbell would cover the race for next year as well, lol. This definitely would be the reason why!

Need to start trainning. Just singed up for another rundisney event other than the DL half.......Wine and Dine half......too many races going on for this guy lol

They released the pin today:

They did it in the 1st race email, if anyone wants the email but didn't get it, PM me and I can email it to you. This one was pretty generic but talked about Pasta in the Park and discounted tix and stuff like that.

Thanks Kim! I got the email but didn't even notice the pin. Will the necklace look similar, do you think? I ordered that and wasn't going to get the pin but now I don't know…that pin is pretty cute.
