Disneyland ½ Marathon Weekend~2012 Check-in!

Your dh sounds like my dh! He rolled his eyes at me when I said I had my costume picked out and then I went to show him what he has to wear and right away he said, "I am not wearing a tutu":)

Does anyone have any experience on staying club level at GCH?? I know it is NOT the best use of points but I'm thinking my waitlist will not come through on the villas and the only rooms available on points is club level (which is an OUTRAGIOUS number).

I love the costume ideas! I'm such a beginner that I'm afraid I would be distracted by a costume and it would throw me totally off. I gotta finish! :)

I like the necklace, too. I had already pre-ordered it without even seeing it. I guess it will be good to spread out the expenses.

I have another question that maybe some of you veterans dis-runners can answer. I try to think outloud to my dh and he just rolls his eyes at me  that I would have such a discussion 95 days in advance. :rotfl:

My kids LOVE LOVE Goofy's Kitchen. I was thinking we could go there after the race. I figure I'll be starving! Given that I've never raced, will be slow, and will probably lay down and cry happy tears right after...what time should I think about scheduling brunch? I'll probably want to run up and shower, too. AND...that will be our first day going into the parks so I'm also not sure if we'd rather skip the big meal and head to DL? Decisions, decisions!

How's everyone's training go? I'm feeling pretty good! Starting this weekend, it'll be 100 + degrees so we'll see how that goes ALL summer long!

:goodvibes

I'm never hungry after I finish a race. I always go back to the hotel, shower and then grab a Jamba Juice from DTD and hit the parks.

As for the costume... if you want to do something like that, what if you "theme" it instead of a costume? That's what I do, b/c for me personally, running and a coustume would not work. I'm just doing the Cinderella mickey ears to attach to my running hat and then stickers/embellishments for my blue running shirt. That way I still have my running stuff and nothing gets in the way. For Tink, I used the Tink ears and a green running shirt and it worked out great, nothing to think or worry about that impeded my running.

For lunch, I go both ways, it all just depends on how I feel. Sometimes I'm hungry and eat sometimes it's like Sarah and I grab a pretzle in the park and eating a late lunch. If you do make reservations, I wouldn't do anything before 12. That way you don't feel rushed when you finish and you can enjoy the finish line and take your time w/ your shower. Also, if you're staying on the Harbor side of the park and have earlier reservations, you'll have to cross back over the service road in front of DLH and that's right near the finish line, so you'll have to wait to cross until there's space in b/w the end of the runners. Another thought would be to do it as a celebratory dinner or a breakfast the next morning.

Sorry for the hot weather! I don't know if I could train in that!!!

Ok, I think you guys are right… I won't schedule anything so I don't feel rushed because I HAVE TO be somewhere. We can always go the next day. See, I knew you'd help me decide. :goodvibes

As for the heat, I'm pretty good about starting my weekday runs at 5:30 am. I'll just need to be disciplined about getting it done early on Saturdays.

We were going to do Minnie's breakfast after the race but then I changed my mind too and I figured it would be too rushed. I think I am leaning towards doing the Fantasmic dessert package for the night of the race as our special celebration.

I'm getting pretty excited too! Trying not to think about running 21K but I keep telling myself I can do it. I've done 10K and I just have to double that. I don't know what I was thinking when I decided to sign up in celebration of my 40th birthday. I guess I desparely needed a Disney fix that I was willing to run a 1/2 to get there! I keep telling myself that there's so much to see that time will just fly while I'm running:rotfl2:

I am doing earning my Coast to Coast and will be doing the Disneyland 1/2. Since I am an East Coast girl, I am super excited to be heading out to Disneyland. Staying for a full week, so I can soak it all in!

Yay, 12 weeks to go!! Now I can finally start talking about the race to non-disney people and not get weird looks b/c I'm so excited about it. I cannot wait to run down that road in the middle of Cars Land, everytime I see a commercial it's screaming for me. :rotfl2:

To whomever is in charge of weather, if we could please have the coastal fog like this morning, it would be greatly appreciated. And can we find out the theme to the 5k and get a course map too?

I'm one step closer to the coast to coast now. With Southwest's airfare special right now, I got a great price to fly to Orlando.

I'm getting pretty excited too! I just booked our airfare last week. Looked at car rental rates and rebooked because it was $20 cheaper :woohoo: confirmation for the room came in the mail yesterday too!

Getting our first and possibly only Coast to Coast medal so I'm very excited about that.

Do folks at DL wear their medals the day of and the day after the race around the parks like they do at WDW?

Yeah, people wear their medals, some of the C2Cers wear both. But I usually see more people wearing the race shirt than medals.

Yep, a lot of the runners will be wearing their medals. I know I always do! And I love getting pictures taken with the characters while I have it on and I always have to get a picture in front of the castle too.

DW and I turn 59 this year, and as part of our observance we are both running the 5k. This will be our first runDisney event and I'm really looking forward to how it compares to other events I've done.

Well just bought my park ticket through Get Travel. Glad they had that option since DL Tickets are expensive. All I have to do now best way to get from LAX to DL, and train. I am getting excited even though we have a couple of months left and looking forward to Cars Land. The map looks like we may be running through it.

I forget if it was for Tink or DL, but did you go into the park on Sat. and see all the little kids w/ their kids races medals on? They were the cutest thing ever.
