Disneyfied! Two sisters return to WDW after 21 years. [micro mini update 11/30 p. 14]

I thought I was one of the only people who thought the hairy legged guy was so cool...not cause he's hairy but so darn realistic...the little Disney touches are so awesome!

Here's my shot of him:

Great update! Love that Lady and the Tramp detail - I have yet to catch that! Yes, Pinnochio does have nice legs, now doesn't he? :lmao: He would look a little odd with manly, muscular legs though!

Looking forward to the next part....popcorn::

You are a riot! Love the title (and closing line) of this update. :rotfl2:

I've never met a character either...DH and I went for our honeymoon in 2006 as our first trip and just skipped over all that since we didn't have children and aren't terribly into the characters. They are neat, but it's not a big deal to us. This year we are doing Chef Mickey's...it makes me nervous even! I don't know what I would even say to a face character...so I'm with ya on all that....

DH and I just watched a movie from Netflix all about the history of Walt. Growing up, family life, how he started out, etc. It was really really good for history nerds! (which we are!)

Thanks! I am having so much fun writing this trip report!

At least you will have a kid with you at Chef Mickey's! He'll be good cover so you don't have to feel embarrassed. You have to get at least one photo with a character -- it's Disney World!

Walt is an inspirational guy. He went through so many failures and still managed to have such success. I was reading some Disney blogs this week and saw that quite a few were going to an event in Walt's home town of Marceline. It looks like a lot of fun. I might have to check it out next year.

Great shot! The little details are what makes the Disney parks so special.

It was in the sidewalk right near that Town Square area as you enter the Magic Kingdom. Very cute!

It's been a busy weekend so I just got caught up. Great update!

As for the trees, they do look like Crepe Myrtles. They are all over down South and there are a ton of different varieties. Some are more bushy, some more tree like, and they come in different colors, that pinky/fuschia is very common, also white & have seen a few pretty lilac ones :goodvibes

Thanks for all of the information! They really are beautiful trees! We have some pretty foliage here in MN, but nothing like those that I know of.

Ok, so I've been all nostalgic after finding that photo of me in mouse ears and did some research on the New Mickey Mouse Club. It turns out the show didn't start airing until 1977, a couple of years after that photo of my sister and I was taken. They must have been feeding little kids Mickey Mouse Club merchandise so they'd have a built-in fan base. It must not have worked out that well because the show only aired for one season.

It's really fun checking out the fan sites and looking at clips of the show on you tube. Happy memories. Here are some of the fun YouTube links I enjoyed best. I wish the Mouseketeers at Walt Disney World special was on there!

Intro

Do the Mouskedance! Ahh, the 70's.

No trip down a pop cultural memory lane is complete without a slightly sordid E! True Hollywood Story!

Thanks for indulging my nostalgic ways! More trip report soon!

Magic Kingdom Part I, II and III

Magic Kingdom Video

Well, I didn't feel much like writing today, so instead I edited together all of my little video clips from our day at the Magic Kingdom. Think of it as a sneak preview of the rest of our day. Hopefully it won't spoil the rest of the trip report!

I'll pick things up back where we were soon. Next up, a not so enchanted Tiki Room and the world famous Jungle Cruise!

Love the video! I can see that you rode Dumbo at night - I hope to be able to do that this trip - it's really magical isn't it? Loved the old nostalgia too! Wowsers - those were some groovy moves! :rotfl:

Loving the old school stuff...I personally was a HUGE New MMC show fan in the 90's!

Oh Goodness! I am really loving your report. Besides the fact that we are close in age...live in the same area... and had to shop at Sears when younger... You are a great trip reporter. Can't wait to read the rest.

A few questions:
Did your hotel have fridges?
Were the beds full or queen?
Are the beds really as comfy as some say?

Where is the tour going to on Thursday?

Dumbo was the last ride of the night. There's not really a wait if you can hold off until just before closing.

I don't think I ever saw the show in the 90's. I didn't realize until watching that E! True Hollywood Story that they had filmed it at MGM Studios. That must have been a big draw for the tweens/teens!

Thanks! I enjoy your trip reports too. You pulled off such a great surprise!

The Dolphin was great!
The room had a mini-bar fridge. I believe you can pay them a fee to empty it out and use it. You can also rent a refrigerator.
I have a full at home, and the bed seemed larger than that, but I think I am just misremembering it due to all of its fluffy wonderfulness. The site says that the Dolphin has full or king and the Swan has queen or king. I loved the pillows so much that I think I'm gong to buy them.

Thursday is Discovery Day!

Are you going to start a trip report for the Minnie Marathon? I'd love to read it. I'm terribly out of shape now, but I would like to do it someday!

Of course!! I'm not running the marathon, however. I DISPISE running! I'd much rather do yoga, aerobics, jazzercise:rolleyes1 ... something like that! DH is the runner in the family. But, yes, I'll be sharing that trip with y'all!

Fun video!

Thanks! I love the movie feature on point & shoot cameras. The quality is poor, but it's fun to have the little clips.

lol. I wish they'd have sweatin' to the disney tunes. That would be my kind of workout, so long as Richard Simmons wasn't involved.

Just back from a long weekend away and it was nice to come home to an update. Thanks for the flashbacks on the MMC. My youngest DD didn't even know what that was! Crazy!!

Thanks! I broken down and ordered a DVD of the NMMC at Magic Kingdom this week. It should be pretty funny!

The kid doing the robot rules.
And wow, that's a LOT of color!

Great video!! Did you just put it all together in Photobucket, or what tool did you use?

:rotfl: Did you notice that Blair from Facts of Life was one of the Mouseketeers?

Thanks for the nice feedback on the video. I used Windows Movie Maker to edit the clips together. I'd probably get something nicer if I had a real video camera, but it works for me. I used that same software to make another video from a trip my sister and I made to Japan a few years ago.

To bring this back on topic... the video does have a very tenuous Disney connection. We went to a festival in Kobe and the parade included a marching band from Tokyo Disneyland and a group of the Disneyland dancers. Here's a photo. I swear I've seen this guy in a Tokyo Disneyland trip report!

Only up to page 5 but had to say OMG you were so close to us at the MK opening ceremony, on your video clips if you had just gone a little bit more left you would have seen us at the wall :rotfl:

All caught up and what a fun trip you and your sister are having already, I loved your video and the beds at the Dolpin do look lovely :goodvibes
