Disneyfied! Two sisters return to WDW after 21 years. [micro mini update 11/30 p. 14]

I just read your trip report and I'm so jealous! I would love to have a sister to go to Disney with. It sounds like you had alot of fun. I checked out the link to the Abe Lincoln malfunction in the Hall of Presidents and was hysterical. I guess he needed to take a nap like many of the guests in there! Can't wait to read more.

Aww, I'm sorry you don't have a sister. But it's my turn to be jealous of you -- celebrating your 20th anniversary at WDW sounds great. Congratulations!

Since I know you all enjoy Disney trip reports, I thought I'd share a link with you. James Lileks, a local columnist and writer known for books like The Gallery of Regrettable Food, also chronicles his family's trips to Disney on his blog. He recently posted about his latest trip and I thought people here might enjoy it. Here are links to Day 1, 2 and 3.

Wow, thanks so much for those links! I've had that book for years, and every so often I find it and read it again and I always end up laughing. I'm reading through his website now and remembering how much I love his humor! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

i'm a little late, but i'm here! great stuff so far. can't wait to hear more about your trip. how awesome to not have to wait MONTHS from the time you plan until the time you actually go! :rotfl:

Thanks! I'm doing things backwards. Instead of planning for months, it will take me MONTHS to actually write this darn thing. My sister and I had such a great trip. We're hopefully going to make another visit to WDW again next summer. I'm already loosely planning. LOL.

I'm still here! Trying to get caught up after being away from the boards for a while!

I laughed out loud at your Brady-reference at the Polynesian!! All I heard was the music they would play whenever they'd close up on the evil wood carved tiki man.... can you hear it?!?

Sounds like you and your sister are having a wonderful time just doing what the moment sparks you to do. Those are the best kinds of vacations to me! Sometimes, too much planning can stiffle the fun!

Ready for more....popcorn::

I think this pic is really cool. It's artsy.

I am thinking of ordering one of these during our dinner at the Poly....DH and I don't drink, and I hadn't heard a review of how they were sans-alcohol, so I'm very glad to hear they are still tasty!

And take your tiiiiiiime with the TR, like you said, it just milks your trip a bit longer. And don't worry, us addicts will stick around!

I need to see that Brady episode again. I wonder if it's on hulu...

We did follow a touring plan, but not rigidly. It worked out well for us because we never had a moment where we wondered what we should do next. Next update will be this weekend. I promise!

I had to crop the pic because I look like a very white, very scary blob!

The lapu lapu I had wasn't alcohol free. It still had one kind of rum, but I had them leave out the strong stuff. It was very tasty and I think it would still be good if you skipped the booze entirely. Besides, half the fun is just drinking out of a pineapple!

I have caught myself up. Thanks for the great link. I hadn't ever heard of the author. shame. pure shame. It was good stuff.

A few questions for you... what lens were you using?

How did you take pictures inside of the small world? Did you use a flash?

I too dislike one of the commentators in Hall of presidents. ;)

Exactly!!

Hey! Sorry I disappeared off the face of the Dis. It was my last week at my job and I as busy with wrapping things up, as well as my never ending need to read every single political news story.

I used my little Canon SD550. I'd love to have the quality of a SLR, but I don't want to lug one around. For the interior photos I switched the ISO to 400 and held as still as possible. None of them turned out that sharp, but these were the best of the bunch. I'd love to have a point and shoot camera that handled low light well. That's one of the things I miss from 35mm film.

Stopping by to say hello! We've been back for about 9 days and I already have several items posted on my food porn thread so come visit me when you have time. :goodvibes

BTW, the only ADR we canceled was Kona so it looks like I will have to wait another year to experience the joy of drinking alcohol from a pineapple. ;)

MN Disers: Did you see this thread on the podcast board?

Minneapolis/Minnesota Podcasters check in

So, I'm interested to know how many of our listeners are in the Twin Cities/Minneapolis area. I was serious about throwing a shin-dig while I'm in town. It's not often I get to spend an extended amount of time in other cities, so I want to take full advantage of it while I'm there. If anyone would be interested in getting together, just post here so I can get an idea of how many people might attend.

I did! :thumbsup2 I was listening to that Podcast last week and was surprised Pete was in Minnesota! I went to the boards right away and saw that thread and "checked-in". I told DH and he is game for a DIS shin-dig. I think Pete arrives back in MN on November 1, so if he has the party shortly after we'll probably miss it due to our trip, but otherwise we will be there if the timing works out!

Are you going?

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! It seems I became one of those people that abandon their trip report. My life has been a series of wacky and not so wacky misadventures for the past month or so. I kept meaning to get back on the Dis, but have had trouble finding the inspiration to write this darn thing.

I'll post a micro mini, but photo-filled update now to try to get back into the swing of things.

Well fortified with rum, air conditioning and an Olympics fix, we headed back into the Magic Kingdom. There were still a lot of important attractions on our list.

We didn't intend to hang around for characters, but we saw a member of royalty when we first walked in and had to stop to pay him tribute. This is pretty much the most hideous photo of me ever, but a very fun memory. Prince John played along well when we "your highnessed" him.

Buns of steel.

More soon. I will finish this thing!
