Welcome to our wedding planning thread! welcoming all ideas as we go through what we think might work. Looking forwards to planning and enjoying every minute of it(I hope...)!

Our story is bitter sweet, and finding a bit hard to put it together on here, but I'm sure everyone will appreciate the details.

Our engagement is a bit of a different story than usual. We had talked about getting engaged together for some time, but unfortunately, my dad had just been diagnosed with end stage cancer, and without any warning, was given 4 weeks to live. Was a complete shock to the family and was very hard to deal with. We chose to go ahead and get his permission, and get engaged while he was still with us, so he would not be with us for our wedding(I am his only daughter), and wanted him to at least share this with us. We were engaged on February 14/2011. Dad passed away few days later.

Been a very difficult time for us, as my mother was diagnosed with a brain tumor, just 2 months later. She currently going blind, and will likely not have any sight by our Christmas time. Yet again another really difficult blow, shortly after such a hard time.

Fast forward to today, my future DH would like to re-propose in the way he really wanted to do it. It might sound silly, but as things did not unfold the way he wanted it, he is going to re-propose sometime during our DCA trip, so I will get to have an extra band with my engagement ring. I feel privileged I have such a wonderful and loving future DH.

Engagement was February 14/2011

Wedding date: August 11/2012

I just screwed up my makeup :rolleyes1 thank you so much for your kind post. It's been a rough year already, and already looking forwards to the new year to start off fresh again. I know a lot of people go through this type of trial every day, some even worst ones, but I know it's been hard for us-more so me. It was so hard, I couldn't attend his memorial service, because I know I would have broken down into a panic attack.

I am very blessed, you are absolutely right. I don't know how I would have stayed grounded without him. He is an amazing man, who takes such good care of me. I am very lucky. He really treats me like a princess.

I am here! This thread is a good idea!

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad. That has got to be so tough. You seem to be very strong in handling it though. I am also sorry to hear about your Mom. I hope that you get to spend lots of time with her in the next while.

I think that you totally deserve another proposal. As special as the first one was, you need one that is just about the two of you. I hope that you don't let your future mother in law get to you too much, I know it's hard, but this is about you two, not her. Hopefully she will come to realize that.

You are amazing Andrea. You are such a sweetheart. It's one of those things where Cancer is going to hit some families. I don't feel it was any less fair that it hit ours over another one. It's something we have to accept, and use as a growing opportunity. It's brought me to realize a lot of things I took for granted that's for sure.

...as for the mother in law....:scared:....nothing much to say...

I think we have the venue location down, so I will post pictures of it tonight. Excited!

Hello ladies. Here we have it! now I am getting excited!:woohoo::yay:

Here is our wedding venue. Can accommodate up to 80 people, and hoping because it's the beginning of August it will be beautiful.

This is once you come inside the doors

When you turn around and face the entrance

When you come through the doors, and look left

...and you look right. Very handy, because there is a projector set up

Then you go outside on the patio

Something exciting happened today. I decided to go ahead and find a Cricut Machine 2 online. I thought I would make my own cards and invites, as well as my own name setting tags and little tags for the candy table etc.

With the cost of it all, it was much wiser, I thought to get my own Cricut-not to mention they also have a lot of Disney Cricut cartridges online.

The cartridge below is one we bought on SALE :woohoo: can't go wrong with that. Going to keep my eye out online for some Disney ones.

They also have Cricut stuff on sale at Michael's right now. We went there on Saturday. So you might find some deals there too!

We got that cartridge from there, on sale. It was an actual deal, but the older Cricut expression was $399 :scared1: talking about over prices a bit eh. I got ours through eBay. I can help anyone wanting to one, look-just pm me.

I actually just won 2 cartridge on there, and paying for them right now.
I just got the "Dreams Come True" and Happily Ever After" from eBay-great prices.

Second Cartridge

I am sooo excited. Andrea, you will have to come out and spend an afternoon doing some cricutting. Would be a blast :wizard:

I could have so much fun with that!!

You are not kidding eh. That's years of fun right there. I think it was great investing in these instead of paying someone else that same amount to make me cards just once. They should look really good I think.

And as a bonus you can use it for scrapbooking too.:thumbsup2

You know what exactly, tho I will say I am not the most creative person, but I'm sure Ill make something up :rotfl: it was worth it just for the sake of the wedding invites, and I paid only half of what it's sold for in stores, so definitely an investment I think. Appreciate all the support, you ladies rock.

I think that scrapbooking is subjective. What you like is what is important.

Very excited to say that the cricut machine came in. Not very good with the settings, but started to do some more simple projects, and very excited to start working with making my invites. A girlfriend at work is getting married a month after us, so we've been planning together-it makes it that much more fun.
We've decided to stick to a vintage type theme for the wedding. We are both from Europe so we thought that that old European look would be beautiful. Here are some photos of what Im absolutely in love with.

I have had troubles deciding which base color to go with for the table runners. Because it is a beach house, I was thinking of adding some fake palm trees around the beach house amongst the decor. Right now what I am thinking of choosing is possibly an olive green to work out with the greenery I want to add to the beach house. Come to think of it, the them will almost be like Tarzan, the movie: Jungle meet french vintage.

We don't have anything bought yet, and Im big on DIY stuff, so if you have experiences or things you've seen you would like to share, let me know :worship:

General idea of what kinds of things I need to look for

Been thinking about making some tags with the cricut for the tables, and candy table, cake table etc

Thought the picture idea

I like that sign

Really like that idea, or have an older, vintage style mirror which are easier to find.

Now I'm not sure that this really goes with the theme super well, tho I saw that mirror IN a vintage photo shoot and it looked pretty good. I would love to get this mirror and then add it to my spare office at home, that we are decorating as haunted mansion.
