....retired yet?

If not, is it soon? :D

Retired, like in his job? Or, like in gone to bed for the night?
Curious minds (just me) want to know! ;)

From his job. He's moving to Orlando to work for THE Mouse! :D Or he might tour with The Lion King! :bounce:

Steve, am I telling too much? This really is your story to tell.

I'm sorry. :(

That's cool, Tia. Ain't no thing. I haven't retired yet. A little voice in my head (probably Mom and Dad) is telling me to wait until I know something for sure, which will happen in about a month when I'm down in Florida for vacation. Plus I haven't received definite word on Lion King auditions as of yet.

However, I almost quit IBM last week over a matter of principle. They wanted me to go to one of the community airports around here and pick up some President of IBM Americas from the company jet. Which would have been fine. However, I was also instructed to get my car detailed (no big thing), get my hair cut (it is not long), put on a tie (horrors!) and remove my Disney license plate holders and Mickey antenna topper. The hair and Disney thing did it.

To make a long story short, I refused, and fumed about it all day long. Somebody else picked the guy up. The next day, however, I had flowers and an apology on my desk. :D

So guess I'm gonna see what happens first. Money isn't an issue...but having something worthwhile to do is.

Remove your Disney license plate holders??? :earseek: Are they CRAZY???

I'm glad you stuck to your principals Steve! No one, and I mean NO ONE should have to endure such a thing! :D

All kidding aside...I'm glad you stuck to your guns.....I think they were going a little overboard....and apprently they saw it that way too~~hence the apology and flowers. ;)

Well, I was just checking on you. :) It's been quiet around here lately.....or have I been off the boards a lot lately?

 Hi Steve. Hi Barb. Hi Gerri. Hi Shannon. Hi Corinne. Hi Lauren. Hi Dayna. Hi Kim. Hi Taryn. Hi Livia. Hi Jody. Hi Vanessa. Hi Lisa. Hi Sandra. Hi Helen. Hi Michelle. Hi Nancy. Hi Peggy Sue. Hi Susan. Hi Norma. Hi Robin.

Next week is another busy week for me....then we leave for Oregon for DH's brother's wedding, so I probably won't be online from Thursday through Sunday.....

*waves back to Tia*

Hi all.... it's been busy here too... but I've been lurking!

Went shopping today for a few things for the convention before all the summer stuff is gone from the stores. Ever try finding a bathing suit in November in Toronto? *laughs*

See you all soon!

Hi Tia,

My sister is getting married Friday, and I'm the one that organised the whole thing - so I've been very busy!! But, I have been lurking.......;)

Hi everybody!

Tia, enjoy the wedding! hope its fun! (My brother is getting married in September but its not fun. Don't get along with the bride (or her mother! She was mean to me today at the shower! :() But it will be over soon! And luckily, she will not be mY MIL! LOL!

Steve, I wouldn't take the Disney stuff off my car either. Glad they found someone else to go! Imagine the nerve of these people! What were they thinking!

Good luck with that bathing suit hunt! hope you found one and let's all hope that the weather in November~December allows for swimming! (Although, i am staying at the Yacht Club (first time) and I WILL be in the pool!):D

Are we there yet?

Hi everybody!

I haven't been on that much this weekend. Too much to do, it seems. I really could use another day off, but soon it'll be a three-day weekend!

Bandit and I are gonna watch Madonna on HBO and relax tonight.

And in other news, I've been on a low-fat, low calorie diet for a week, and have lost eight pounds. Which isn't too bad for starters.

Wow, Steve, how did I miss all this stuff? Good luck with the job! That's really exciting and I'm very excited for you! :D And, congratulations of the weight loss. I think that's a great achievement, too. I wouldn't take the Disney things off of my mini van either. They are what identifies me as a Disney addict! I love walking up to the van and seeing my front plate and the jumping Mickey on my side window! They always make me smile. :)
There are so many things going on with everyone in the few weeks!
Sandra, good luck with the wedding and all your plans!
Tia, have a great time at the wedding! I love weddings, especially when there are lots of people I know to have fun with!
Taryn, good luck with all your shopping. I hate bathing suit shopping. What looks acceptable in the store, sucks at home! I have so many bathing suits waiting for me to look better! LOL
We are going to Chicago in a week and a half! We're going to the hobby and trade show there. But, the best part is we're having dinner with a bunch of DIS friends on Friday night!! I am so thrilled they could all make it. I will get to meet PatrickIL, December99 (Chris), Smee (Corinne-fellow commando!), NancyIL (I think) and a few others, too! I will get to see Dan again. It's been almost a year since I saw him last. This will be fun!! It's sort of a pre DIS-Con!! Then, in October, Bill and I are doing the 7 day Disney cruise for our 25th wedding anniversary. I don't know if we can stand each other for a solid week straight! LOL And, before you know it, the convention will be here! Busy, busy, busy!!! Have a great week, everyone!! :D

Hi Tia, and everyone else. That's cool info Steve about your retirement and The Lion King. Big congrats on losing weight as well. We all seem to have been here less lately. We've been busy around the house, but things will settle down with school back tomorrow.

Lisa

Congratulations Steve! :bounce: That is truely AWESOME!!! :)

Hi! I have been away during the weekend with my kids. Also, my sister who lives near Seattle is down here for 2 weeks. It is funny to realize that after 12 years in the US she's got an accent when she speaks Portuguese.
Taryn: it is usually very easy to find bathing suits down here year round. The problem is to find something that will cover at least the "bare necessities".
Steve: Great job, both at IBM and at losing weight. Eight pounds off is awesome! Now that I have managed to recover from jet lag I will be resuming my weight lifting/aerobics routines. I want to get them dole whips with no guilty conciensce (sp.).
;)
People in my office have got used to my wall covered with Disney postcards. Sebastian the crab presides over my computer and nobody dares touch him!
Tia and Sandra: Have a great time with both your weddings.

Sandra....planning the whole wedding??? That must be quite the job! Best of luck.....I'm sure it will be wonderful! :sunny:

Wow! Everyone is so busy lately! Hopefully things slow down for us so we can get back on here and 'socialize' a little more. ;) ;) ;)

Have a nice week everyone. :)

I've not been on the "boards" much the last few days either (although I did drop in to
"chat" last night)! WOW!!! so many DIS Con Commandos missing in action!! Glad that
we all made it back safe and sound.
Steve, Congratulations on ALL your news!!!
Barb, I am really going to try to make the "for real Barb" meet, but I can't guarantee it yet.
Tia, Have a wonderful time at the wedding!!! Relax!! and daydream about DIS Con!!
I am going to have a very busy week this week, too. DH starts back to school and there
is inherent "busy-ness" there. Plus he is on the computer a lot more for homework,
so it cuts into "my" computer time.:(
Also, I have to get to a LOT of stuff that I have been putting off because it was summer.
And last but not least ..........I have to get the Christmas decorations out of the boxes and dusted off!!!!
Labor Day is only a week away Tia!!!!!!!!
I know we'll all stop by here as often as we can, but just in case,

Happy Labor Day, Everybody!!!!

Corinne:wave: :earsgirl:

Hi everyone!

Steve...wow! Your retirement plans sound exciting.

Sandra I hope the wedding goes well. Relax and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

How goes the painting and decorating Tia?

Pumbaa...good luck with the new SIL.

Hi Barb! Have a great time in Chicago (Chicago that toddlin town)

Smee tell DH that if he is going to insist on cutting into your DIS time that you somply must get your own computer ;)

Hi BelleMom! I hope you had a great visit with your sister.

Hi Taryn! a bathing suit in November in Toronto...hehe...now that would be tough!

My DH and I celebrated our 9th anniversary this weekend (it is actually during the week). My mom and dad took the kids for the weekend and we RELAXED in peace and quiet.

I haven't been on much either. Work has picked up a bit and they have me writing tech docs for the website (BORING)! And I have been sick....last week I was running a temp of 102-103 most the time. I still came to work (I sit in a huge cube all by myself and all my co-workers stayed clear so as to not get sick) I figure I can be sick at work just as easily as home. I try to save any sick days for when I need to play "Super Mommy".

Dan had Lasiks done on his eyes...He is so HAPPY. Over night he went from 20/675 to 20/15, but he is driving me nuts now. Yesterday we were in the car and he kept reading the street signs out loud...I couldn't see what he was talking about to save my life! He also asked why in the world I needed 4 razors in the shower...I had no idea that they were there...I cant see without my glasses at all. LOL

Steve...You sound very much like my SO Dan. He actually wants to leave 'Corporate America' and buy a hot dog stand. He is a network design engineer servicing government markets...and is hoping to be working in ALASKA this fall/winter...I get the chills just thinking about it. A few months ago Disney had posted his dream job...then a few days later they announced the lay offs and the posting was taken down, but we are still very interested in moving to Mickey Mouse's house.

Taryn...This weekend I bought the perfect bathing suit, it was only $3.75 on clearance!! I was just thrilled to death....until I got home and tried the stupid thing on. Yuck...Maybe after I lose 30 more pounds I can THINK about wearing it.

A hot dog stand? Sounds like my kinda place! Except that I've been reduced to eating turkey hot dogs as of late. Yucky. I like everything that's bad for me. And Alaska is truly a beautiful place, but I don't think I could handle the cold all the time. Course it's 91 degrees here in Denver today, and snow sounds pretty good right now.
