Disney YES Program Open to non-groups

According to Ashley, who coordinates the individual enrollment classes, immediate family means the kids, their siblings, parents, and grandparents. We have 4 kids doing the program and my mom and my brother are both traveling with us. She specifically told me that we could get tickets for my mom(the kids grandmother), but not for my brother (the kids uncle).

It would be nice if the rules were made more clear on the website and during registration, because it sounds to me like lots of people have bought the discounted tickets for aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.

So the other PP said she was told parents and siblings, but you were told grandparents as well? I guess I'm good then. All our kids are in the class, so we didn't "skirt" the rules, as someone called it. I still consider cousins to be immediate family, but I guess different people perceive it differently.

Thank you!! I was hoping it would be clear cut from somebody else's confirmation but I guess not.

I figure it HAS to be before park opening with them going behind the scenes at Haunted Mansion (it would be pretty disturbing for other guests to see people in the ballroom scene LOL) so it must be the 7:15 start time, or so I'm telling myself.

I also saw that this class is offered another time over the summer (not our dates) and that one's at 7:15. OK, I feel better about that part of my problem. Phew!

I'm just not sure about the registration part for the adults. Do you think that if I put one adult in each of the two 8-11 options that we'll be able to have one of us go with DD13? I'd love for some reassurance on this point. DD13 NEEDS an adult with her (she has a high functioning form of autism so while intellectually she's very capable and in fact quite advanced and will love the class, she needs somebody there who she knows to head off any early signs of a meltdown before it happens).

We went behind the scenes at HM when the park was open in August, our class time was 9am; you are not exactly in the ballroom scene but behind a glass partition behind what those riding see and we needed to stand at a certain point in that area so as not to be seen by those riding Haunted Mansion.

If it is Individual Enrollment classes you are wondering about, my daughter and neice were 13 and 14 at the time and both myself and my sister were allowed to accompany them, there were 2 or 3 teens in our class that were older than the girls and they each had an adult accompanying them too.

So is anyone doing or has anyone ever done the Everyday Chemistry class? My boys chose this one, but I'm afraid they will find it boring...I notice it's the one class I haven't heard anyone talk about either. We are going June 14.

Bumping to see if anyone has attended the Everyday Chemistry class?? It is the only one my 2 kids can do together when we go in October as they will by 12 and 9 y.o.!

Thank you!! I did call and get some straight answers. It does start at 9am (shucks). I enrolled each adult in the separate 8-11 adult options and the final review screen did show one of those as the 12-17 class. We're all set and we are enrolled in the class. YAY!!

I've been waiting to see your reply re. the start time--we're also signed up for Aug 22 with 4 kids for the 2 sessions (2 of them are 11, 2 are 13) and were hoping we might be able to get in to MK a little early. Oh well--at least we'll be in Disney with a nice price break on the tix!

Can someone explains how the ind. program works. How does Disney verify the age of my son. I know they were prob. check when I show up the day of for his education event. However, how what do I need to show proof of his age when I am buying the tickets (six months aheadish) for the family. He doesnt have an ID. Thanx for the help.

Also, I was reading that if my son does not show up he all the tickets are voided. Has anyone enountered this? My main worry is that we rarely have a vacation where someone doesnt get sick. Also, he will only be 5 at the time. What do I do if he is sick that day or is having a really bad day? Am I able to call or do something to let them know, or are the tickets just voided. I want to do this program and give him the opportunity, but if there is a risk of the tickets being voided I might just want to buy regular passes. I just dont want to stress of a ruined vacation if something goes wrong that one day. However, if I know that we will be ok, I want him to have a unique Disney experience.

Yay glad to hear you are all set !!! You'll have a fun time !

The floral Mickey is just beneath MK train platform but facing the outside of Magic Kingdom, you don't go through the tunnel on either side into the actual inside of MK where Main St. is. You do swipe your tickets and pass through the turnstiles. Ahead is the garden area between the left and right tunnels just beneath the train platform and the floral Mickey head is there ( often the photopass photographers are in this area taking pictures of guests ). The YES CMs will be easy to locate in their bright royal blue shirts after the train with the characters leaves the station when the opening ceremony is over because there will be alot less people in that area once the ceremony is over ! On the day of our class MK's opening time was 9am (same time class was set to begin) so YES CMs really didn't come over by the floral Mickey until that area began to empty out which was just about 9am on the dot.

I'm sure we'll enjoy ourselves anyway and I know this won't actually take away from our experience (it just won't add to it if that makes any sense). Since we won't be trying to get into the park quickly, our girls will be able to play with a hoola hoop and we can stand back and get a good view of the show. That's a positive anyway. LOL

It's funny but I was trying to picture a topiary rather than a flat mickey head. No wonder I couldn't figure it out.

As far as I know, it is on the honor system as far as age. I don't think I have heard anyone say they had to show ID.

We were signed up for the YES program last year, but the day before his class, my son got sick with strep. I called the program number given to me and let them know the situation. Our tickets were fine for the rest of the trip and I was able to sign up this year as well. I kept the receipt from the clinic in case they needed to see it. Can't wait to actually do the class this year. He and his cousins are all doing it this time!

I'm all worried I am going to miss the delivery. My credit card was charged the day after I made my order .. and I think it has been about a week. Soon? Or maybe it will take longer to come to Canada?

It was more than a week, less than two, for me to get them via fedex to PA. It makes the trip more real when your tickets are in hand

I'm not 100% sure but it could be possible that you may be allowed to walk through the tunnels onto Main Street prior to the opening ceremony...I know they have specific rope drop areas in the parks for opening time, I'm not really sure if MK's is before the tunnels or beyond on Main St. itself. Hopefully you can get that photo

I can't imagine why they'd let us through the tunnels early if the meeting place is in front of that floral Mickey. It's not like there's a need to get in like with a pre-RD ADR. The ropes are in the middle of the tunnels under the train bridge so I'm pretty sure it's a no-go since we'll be meeting on the outside of where the ropes are rather than inside. I doubt I'll even ask.

I signed my niece up for the 6/22 American Story class (MK) for 8-11 yr olds. I got 6 tickets: my brothers family of 5 + my mom (her grandmother). Looks like my mom is going to accompany her to the class. My SIL & I both offered (actually wanted to) but mom has claimed the position. Oh well....I guess I'll have to wait until next year when my son is 5 to try some of these!

How much more did shipping to Canada cost? I was thinking of opting to pick them up once we arrived.

I chose the $10 dollar shipping option when checking out online. After I was finished I started to be concerned that it wouldn't be enough so I called and was told the $10 shipping option definitely covers Canada as well.
