 I don't know when your summers are but I was told late April/ early May. Still has not stopped me from checking the site twice a day. :surfweb::lmao: Did you see that they changed the site? It now says reg. coming soon in red. Guess I was pressing the sign up button to much. ;) I couldn't have been the only one?:rolleyes1

:rotfl: my husband said it was me;)

when I think summer...I think June at the earliest. Guess I will keep checking. I don't want to miss it!!

Just received the registration confirmation for our class 8/22!
This is our second class this year. We had so much fun in Feb. we had to go again.
YES individual enrollment is the best Disney secret!
:hippie:

Having just learned of this program last week, I am very interested in reviews by past participants. Our group would be DS8 and Dnephew9. An Epcot class would be my first choice from a logistics stand point because I would like to schedule a Princess breakfast in Norway for DD5 and DNiece8 for the same morning.

Thanks in advance.

My DS 6 and DD8 did Synergy in Science in January. The rode Spaceship Earth and did something with Captain EO. My DH went with them, and he was bored to death, but the kids LOVED it! We have done the YES program for the last two years and really enjoyed it. Last year we did the AK one and DD really enjoyed that as well. It's normally 3-4 hours, so it's half your day, but honestly very well worth it!

I just found this great little secret. And am thinking of signing my kids up for a class 8/22. dd is 8 and ds will be 12 at that time, the only class I found that is close to fitting them both is for 8 - 11 year olds, ds is very small for his age and could easily pass for 10, will there be any problems signing them both up for the same class? Another question I have, is if the free dining becomes available for our visit, would we NOT be elligible for that since we'd be buying our tickets seperate from our hotel?

It depends, if free dining requirement is that you purchase park tickets as part of the package ie room+park ticket package=free dining bonus then you would not be eligible because YES tickets would not count towards that package's required ticket purchase which would be regular MYW tickets.

Give YES group a call and ask about age for this program; according to this post below ( it appears on page 131 Post# 1955 by poster drischar It appears that they do adhere to ages indicated; now I don't know if that is case for each and every class but specific to Chemistry classes; for Chemistry classes it also specifically notes on YES website that kids must be ages noted because of experiments conducted during program.

Here's my email followed by their response....(not sure how I got so misinformed about my first ques., glad I asked)

What are you inquiring about?: Individual Enrollment - Youth Education

2 questions--

1. If I find that I must cancel a reservation, is it correct that it is
100% refundable with one week's notice?

2. Are the age requirements strictly enforced? My son will be 8 years,
but is very bright and loves science, could he participate in an age 9+
class (Chemistry)?

Thank you for your help.
DeAnn

Greetings, DeAnn -

All tickets, reservations, and programs are non-refundable and non-transferable. The ages are also strictly enforced due to safety reasons of the selected programs.

Have a Magical Day!

Is anybody registered for either of the August 22 Child Disney's World of Physics: Energy and Waves Magic Kingdom® class? The site is contradicting itself and seems to have mistakes so I'm wondering what the confirmation shows.

Here's what it shows on the first page of the registration:
August 22, 2011
Disney’s World of Physics: Energy and Waves 8-11 7:15am Open
Disney’s World of Physics: Energy and Waves 12-17 7:15am Open

Here's what it shows on screen where you choose the program:
9:00 AM-12:00 PM
Child Disney's World of Physics: Energy and Waves (Ages 12-17) Magic Kingdom®
Adult Disney's World of Physics: Energy and Waves (Ages 8-11) Magic Kingdom®
Adult Disney's World of Physics: Energy and Waves (Ages 8-11) Magic Kingdom®
Child Disney's World of Physics: Energy and Waves (Ages 8-11) Magic Kingdom®

One screen shows 7:15 which means it ends at 10:15 and another screen shows 9:00 - 12:00pm.

Then the next problem is that it lists only a child option for the 12-17yo class but 2 adult options for the 8-11yo class. What do I choose for the adult option for the 12-17yo?

I called in but the girl I was speaking with can't get any answers until Monday. That 12-17yo class is filling FAST so I'd like to register ASAP but I know they're non-refundable so I need to make sure that I've got this right.

HELP!!!!

One more question. How the heck do you get to the park for 7:15 when you're using Disney transportation? We'll be at YC.

Re: the free dining question and tickets...you would have to purchase the number of days of a base ticket that the package requires, however I think that you would be able to take those tickets off at check-in and use them on a later trip, using the YES tickets instead. Someone on here will confirm this for certain, though...wondering on the logistics of this myself as we are hoping for free dining and YES in the fall. TIA to the person who gives us the skinny!

With free dining you do have to buy minimum 2 day MYW tickets. I've had them pulled off my KTTW card at Guest Relations when I used this promotion and had an AP. The tickets do not expire until you actually put them in a turnstile at which time the clock starts ticking on the 14 days from first use expiration. This can be several years from when you buy them if that's what you want.

My confirmation says 9:00am to 12:00pm I have children booked in the 8-11 and 12-17 age group as do others on here but i will be sending am email and asking about the time as well because I did think it was a 7:15 start as well. :confused3
There was an adult option on both when i did mine because I put 1 in both can't help you with that.
I would book as soon as you can because we waited and missed out on the class on the 23rd it filled up on a weekend.

I just re-read page 1 of my confirmation and it says "When the minimum is reached you will recieve an e-mail reconfirming the date and time of you program"
so I would book and let them sort it out either the confirmation or the booking form is incorrect but I am sure they will sort it out and let us know.
They are not going to want us to all turn up at 9 if the class started at 7:15 personally I hope it's 7:15.

Here's my question:

How long before a class can you use tickets and how long are the tickets good for? My sister is going and her kids are going to participate in the class. We are going a week before them and there will not be a class my kids can participate in - we will be overlapping some of the trip with them and our parents. Can she get the tickets for all of us and then we use ours before she arrives and with her as well? Can you even get tickets for 6 adults and 4 kids if only 2 kids are in the class? My kids really want to do the class but they have a huge gap the week we are planning on going...leaving us in a dilemma.

ETA: I am asking what is allowed within the rules of the program...I would do the class if we could but we can't so now I am trying to figure out what would work for us or see if we need to buy seperate tickets.

Kind of a fine line there. It says the tickets are for immediate family of the kid(s) participating. I consider aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents part of my immediate family, but I don't know what Disney's definition is. I know I got tickets for my mom and dad, as well as my son, his cousins and their parents. We had 3 kids in the program and got 8 YES tickets for the group. They don't ask who the tickets are for, but there is a disclaimer that states:

Please Note: All tickets purchased through the Youth Department will have "YOUTH" printed on the back. These tickets are valid for participating students, adult chaperones, and immediate family only.

When you buy tickets, they ask for date of arrival and date of departure. You put the earliest anyone would arrive and the latest anyone would leave. The tickets are good from one week before your arrival date to one week after your departure date.

Thank you...

I am really torn on what to do. I really don't want to use hers b/c we will only be going to Disney and she wants to go to Universal as well so she will be getting less days than me and I would adjust my dates for more overlap so we would be considered part of their group....

All the tickets don't have to be the same amount of days.

With regards to the rules of the program, the purchase process leads to this type of info...

"To maintain the high-quality and age-appropriate Disney Youth Education Series learning experience, no more than one adult for each participating student may attend Disney Youth Education Series programs. Student Participants under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult (18 or older) while participating in the YES program. Students 13 or older may participate without an adult on the program, however, an adult must be present at check-in and remain in the theme park during the program time.

Please check box to certify you have read and understand this message.

The Names and Ages listed above represent the participants in the selected Youth Education Series Programs. Participation in your registered Youth Education Series Program is required in order to receive this special ticket pricing.

Please check box to certify you have read and understand this message"

Based on their requirements, it would appear that the 4 children should be signed up for a class and their family members can use the discount.

The info I'm posting above is purely to answer the question about Disney's rules for the program. I know this thread can get a little heated, but as requirements for groups, etc. have changed I've gone through the purchase chain just short of entering card info so that I am completely aware of what is required. Hope this helps.

I have read that people have signed only one child up and still got the tickets for others in the group, including other children. If someone has kids who are 4 and 12, for instance, there may not be a group available for both of them.

My understanding of the statement you quoted is that only one adult per child being is able to participate in the CLASS. Then it goes on to say that getting the tickets requires that the student(s) signed up attend the class.

Just my opinion of course......People have to use their own judgment. I don't feel like getting tickets for my parents was wrong, but I wouldn't have gotten them for a friend or a second or third cousin.

People have to use their own judgment

I definitely agree.:) I guess I interpret the rules a little more literally....I'm definitely not going to interpret the immediate family thing for anyone else but me, but my mom and dad, brother, sister, nephews, nieces etc. are immediate to me. If there was a class for one of my girls and not for the other, then we would still get the discount. If my daughter was in a class and my brothers' family was arriving the last days we're there, I'd probably ask the YES office what their take is on the situation. It's a scenario that could probably be taken advantage of, but that's where people make their own choice. And to be clear, by no means do I in anyway think that the pp is doing that. The class gap is out of her hands Their arrival/departure times are so close to each other you'd hope that they could have all the kids take part if they're the right ages. But I know trip planning can be less than flexible even that close together.

My confirmation says 9:00am to 12:00pm I have children booked in the 8-11 and 12-17 age group as do others on here but i will be sending am email and asking about the time as well because I did think it was a 7:15 start as well. :confused3

Thank you!! I was hoping it would be clear cut from somebody else's confirmation but I guess not. I figure it HAS to be before park opening with them going behind the scenes at Haunted Mansion (it would be pretty disturbing for other guests to see people in the ballroom scene LOL) so it must be the 7:15 start time, or so I'm telling myself. I also saw that this class is offered another time over the summer (not our dates) and that one's at 7:15. OK, I feel better about that part of my problem. Phew!

I'm just not sure about the registration part for the adults. Do you think that if I put one adult in each of the two 8-11 options that we'll be able to have one of us go with DD13? I'd love for some reassurance on this point. DD13 NEEDS an adult with her (she has a high functioning form of autism so while intellectually she's very capable and in fact quite advanced and will love the class, she needs somebody there who she knows to head off any early signs of a meltdown before it happens).

Thanks again!!
