Disney YES Program Open to non-groups

I haven't firmed up dates yet, but we have 4 kids. If I could get another 6 kids to join us, I might go ahead and book!

Is there another place I should post this?

I have a group of 10 kids (8 family members + 2 friends) and we signed up for Properties of Motion for September 12 at 7:15. If you are interested in signing up with us, you could go ahead & start your planning now. I'm not really sure about the chaperone thing, though. It says 1 adult is required for every 5 children, so I would assume you would need (only be able to have) a 3rd chaperone for the 11-15th kids. My SIL & I will be the first 2 chaperones.

I emailed about this because one of our 9 kids would be 7 & we wanted to let her in with the other 8 kids in the family. They emailed me this response:
"We are unfortunately not able to allow the 7 year old on the program. This program does require that the students be a minimum of 8 years old since they do go into the park before it opens and this is considered a backstage experience. Also, your program will be taught to the age range that is most prevalent in your group (high school student range), so a 7 year old would not really enjoy the experience. We just want to ensure that your group has the most successful educational program possible." :sad1:

What grade is your 7 yo in?

We did 2 groups on Nov.12th.
Prop. of Mot. & How Things Move.
I initially put our middle son in the younger group because I didn't want him disrupting the class ving for his dad's attention over big bro & he would not be 8 until the next day.
But when you fill out the pre registration form for a group, they ask for the child's grade not age. Since he's in the 3rd grade they moved him up to the older class. When I called to exlain why , I was told that if he was in the 3rd grade and able to handle the curriculum at school he needed to be in the older class.

They never mentioned any problem with "backstage" and his age. Our class started at 7:15am also.

How did you register for September already? I'm heading down with a crew of family on July 30 and want to get into one of the two classes offered for 4 kids, ages 7-11, on August 1. The website however says classes aren't available that far in advance. A phone call to YES confirms this and says it will open "sometime in January"- only til mid February. My kids and kin will be ecstatic to be part of this program and I want to seal that deal ASAP!

Anyone else going to be sweating it out in FL at the same time to fill a class?

Thanks Melani. Ill have to look into this more.

We're also thinking of mid May (around May 13-20). I have a DS8, and our friends also have a DS 8. We'd definitely be interested!

We have booked the Properties in Motion for April 4, 2011 at 7:15. The families that originally planned to go with us, have had to cancel for one reason or another. If anyone would like to join us, please let me know. It is Spring Break for all of Georgia, so hopefully there are others out there looking for a class.

Are we allowed to post this in a separate post or does it have to stay with this one?

Great! I have been looking at 5/9-5/14 or 5/6-5/11(this had better airfare). My summer school schedule starts on Monday 5/16, so we have to book around that. Keep in touch with me, PM me if you would like and lets see if we get any others. If we can arrange 10 kids, I will totally be able to book a room with the current room only discounts.

I believe our 7yo will be in 1st grade when we go. :sad2: Her birthday's in July, so her mom waited until she was six to start her in Kindergarten. Thanks for the info, though. I'll pass it on to SIL.

I saw someone else mention taking a younger sibling to a character breakfast during the class. That might be an idea if 7yo is very upset about not being included. But then, some of the others might get jealous... :confused3 Ya know, it's hard to please a group of 17! :rotfl:

If your group has 10 or more kids in it (hence the 2 kids' friends we're inviting), you can sign up for the group, rather than individual enrollment. I assume they're waiting on group enrollment so they can tack on the individual enrollments? Anyway, that's how we did it. We were so close to the 10 students & with that, you get 2 complimentary tickets so it didn't cost any extra to invite 1 friend for each of our families with the parents' understanding they had to pay for meals, but tickets & lodging were taken care of (we're staying in a 7 bedroom villa, so no extra cost in lodging either). :cool2:

I received a phone call and a follow-up email to inform me that I had registered on the wrong site. I had hit individual enrollment and that is the page that it took me to, but somehow it misdirected me. Anyway, I had to reorder the tickets on the correct page and pay for them now instead of when I pick them up.

interesting. in theory, if you can pay at the window and use disney gift cards, then I could get gas discounts through the grocery store. please let us know what you find out. I have to order this week.

Disneybirds,
I would be interested in the April 4th....could you let me know any more info??

If I cannot join April 4th with Disneybirds, is there anyone who is organizing any other groups anywhere form March 25th- April 6th??

Do you know if everyone in our group would recieve the yes program discounted tickets like we would with individual enrollment?

So does this mean since we are a family of 3 that we all will get discounted tickets? Jjust found this thread and want to take my DD to to the one in August for individual enrollment. This would be so much fun for her. Can we apply these tickets to the discount room only being offered now?

There is a May group if anyone is looking for a possible YES program- it is possible only one more child is needed! Dates are May 6th-13th.

We're interested in possibly joining a group for May 19 - 27 if anyone is going at that time. We would have 2 and maybe 3 children for that time.

ShawnaLucy- If I'm understanding you correctly, if I have 10+ I can reister for a class now. If I have less, I have to wait for Individual Enrollment. Is that right?

ChelleWashere- Are you looking at one of the two offered on August 1? If so maybe we could join up and hope for some more? I have 7 yr. old twins, 9 and 11. I'm really hoping they could get into the same class...

Great info. on this thread. Thanks to all who have posted!

Nope sorry we are going the end of August I was looking to sign her up for the one on the 22nd she is 5.
This is a great thread to find. Very informative...something I had never even heard about

Any one know about the meal vouchers? Price, what they include, how many one can buy?

Also--I just read that one can not use the disney visa reward credits--that is a bummer. Has anyone been able to register for individual enrollment classes in August yet?

Called today to check on the June 14th classes.
Was told that they will not be registering for summer until after winter classes are over.
Said to check back around the end of Feb / begin of March.
Also the web site is only updated on Tuesdays.
