Disney Y.E.S. Program

I didn't notice many young kids at the presentation in Jan and it was a really enjoyable experience all around. I'm half hoping to pull another trip together for the Oct homeschool days, though I suspect my husband might string me up if I try... These YES events are addictive! We were there for Homeschool Days in January for the Ridley Pearson presentation, and we'll be there for the Girl Scout evening in May, but I'd still like to catch the Oct event as well. Unfortunately the class DD wants to take next is already full for that week so it'll have to wait for some other time.

That is great to hear. I have to say that is one of the reasons we didn't go to the Ridley Pearson presentation, because I was so worried about it being that way again. Glad to hear it was better than our experience at the Healthy Habits presentation. :thumbsup2 The classes are addictive, and makes it so much more affordable, too! :cool1:

Thanks for the info :thumbsup2

I was wondering how it would go with all ages there. :confused3 My kids loved the Wild By Nature class last year but due to their ages it looks like there aren't any YES classes open the week we'll be there that they could do together, so if we choose to add them then we'd have to split up the family for 2 of our days and we'll only have 4 park days(no hopper) due to finances.
Looks like we may just have to do homeschool days and I'll explain to them it will be different then the YES class.
Is the homeschool thing kind of like a hour presentation and everyone sits and listens or????

The Healthy Habits presentation was an hour long and we were all in one big room listening. It was PACKED! And loud. I am hoping this year's presentation will be broken into smaller groups or something. Either way, it is only an hour and I can expand further with my DD with the handouts they give out. On your other question, I didn't have to show letter of intent or anything to prove we are a homeschooling family. Walked right up to GS at DTD and got our tickets, they never asked for anything as proof. Have a great time! :)

Thanks so very much for the info! Praying homeschool dasys does not get filled before we come up with the last $300 for our tickets!:goodvibes

I am not sure if this has been answered before....if the class starts before the parks open and the buses aren't running yet, how do you get to your class?

What time is your class? Buses generally run early enough to get you to the park by 8:00 am. If your class is earlier than that, you're probably going to need to take a taxi.

Definitely a taxi. Our class was at HS and we were staying at POP Century so the cost was only about $10.00 including tip. You can also make a reservation with the cab company (we did) and they showed up exactly on time.

No, actually we are signed up for the Production Arts and Sciences on 10/19. Does anyone have any feedback on that class? It is at hollywood studios.

With all the posts about getting to before park-opening classes, I have a question...

What about driving your own car to MK? We always use the busses, so I'm not familiar with getting from the parking lot using the monorail or boat.

I am taking our two younger kids to an 8:15 class and DH is taking older DD to a 9:00 class both at MK. (Park opens at 9:00 that day.) What's our best option? Drive? Just take the bus? I have read that they're available for those with early ADRs (We've never tried getting a bus that early unless it was an EMH morning for that particular park.)

I'd take the bus to MK. Although the boats and monorail should be open, I've come across enough issues to not trust it if I've got a deadline.

You might want to check your registration confirmation. Mine says to meet at the TTC. Our class is at MK at:scared1: 7:15am.

Program Name: Disney's World of Physics: Properties of Motion
Program Date: 07-09-2012
Program Time: 07:15 AM - 10:15 AM
Meeting Location: Ticket and Transportation Center.
Special Note: *Must provide own transportation to Magic Kingdom®; Disney transportation is not available for this course.

Not sure how we will provide our own transportation to MK, unless we swim, lol. I am assuming it means we have to get to the TTC on our own.

We did the Properties of Motion class last year and had to be at TTC at 7:15. We drove and had the BEST parking spot I have ever had. It was sooo close to the front.

We are doing American Story at MK at 7:15 and ours also says to meet at the TTC. We always drive to WDW, so not a big deal, we'll just drive to TTC. But if you don't have a car, just take a taxi to TTC.

Thanks. We were leaning toward taking the bus, but I just wasn't sure how frequently the early busses make their rounds. I guess we will just get to the bus stop super early.

Both of our classes say "MK turnstiles" as the meeting point.

I actually had wondered about this as well, especially for the class that DH is doing with older DD. MK turnstiles right at a 9am opening seems like a crowded and fairly vague location. I'm assuming there will be a CM with a sign or something. I know I had seen classes in the past that said "flagpole" or something specific.

We are signed up for the Ocean Discoveries class.. Has anyone done this? If so how did you like it? I am curious also about the Art Animation... It was full.... Kinda wishing we would have got that class.... Do they ever open it back up after it closes and let you switch?

I haven't bought our tickets yet, because I haven't firmed up the dates we will be there, but I do know that sometimes classes reopen. I have been keeping my eye on the classes I want that are close to the times we want to go and at least 2 of them that had closed are now open again. I don't know if it's because they decide to add an instructor and make the class larger, or if someone switched or backed out of the class. Maybe they had originally marked them as closed because they decided not to have the class that day, then changed their mind as staff became available. i don't know why it happens, but I know for sure that it has - so keep your eye on the classes.

We will be at DTD, Saturday, June 2nd. Our tickets are valid starting Sunday, June 3rd. Would they let us pick them up a day early?
If not, we would pick them up at the TTC on Sunday since we are going to MK that day.
What time does the TTC open?
TIA:)
Amy
