Disney Y.E.S. Program

Just wanted to give a heads up...we had to cancel our class for Oct. 16th Wild By Nature. I'm having some complicated health issues unfortunately. Hopefully someone else can take our spot, there were five of us. I think it takes a few days to cancel in their system so I'd imagine the availability would show up later in the week.

Sorry to hear that you had to cancel that class. We will be in that class (and I will even be wearing my b-day tiara to the class princess:)

Hope you are on the road to recovery soon :)

I've been reading all the posts about the YES program but haven't been able to find the answer to my question. We are staying on property for 9 days at end June and have a package that includes park hopper passes, can we take advantage of the YES program park pass discount? I'd love to register my children but wonder if we can also have the added bonus of saving some money on our park hoppers? Thanks!

You can't get YES tickets as part of a package. They are separate and distinct tickets that can only be purchased through the YES program.

You have the option of re-booking your stay as room-only (which you can't do if you have the dining plan added unless you have an AP), or saving the package tickets for a future room-only trip and get the YES tickets.

Purchased our YES tickets for our August trip! Has anyone taken the Ocean Discoveries class? It was the only one left with one of our children's age available. I am a little nervous about having DS son take the class, but the savings were unbelievable.

To pick up the tickets I know we need ID, but do we need the credit card they were purchased with?

Thank you!!!

I'm confused...you can't get the dining plan if you do YES tickets? I am already booked for September, and was going to change my plans (again) to get YES tickets because I think my kids would like the class. I have the dining plan, and want to keep it! I was going to be able to have the dining plan and military discount tickets (which you have to pick up separately) so why can't you do it with YES tickets? Has anyone tried to book the dining plan & room and told the CM they were doing YES tickets?

To participate in the YES program, you must purchase park tickets through the youth program department. The tickets are tied to the dates of your trip, and will expire.

Normally, to book the dining plan, you either have to be staying on DVC points, or with a full Disney package that includes park tickets. Are you booked with a military special? (I think I read that you could add the dining plan while purchasing your tickets separately, but I might be mistaken. It just seems to ring a bell.) If you are, you could keep your dining plan package, and purchase YES tickets. You would not want to also purchase the discounted military tickets though, because you'd then have two sets of tickets. So...you'd need to decide if you want to go with the military tickets and no YES program, or the YES program/tickets and no military tickets.

PP is correct. You can book dining with military packages, which do not include tickets. So you could do the YES tickets instead of the military salute tickets.

OK, wasn't aware that they added a military package as an exception to the "must get tickets" rule.

So the situations in which you can get the dining plan without getting a package that includes tickets are:

- DVC staying on points
- AP holder booking "room only plus dining"
- Military room and dining package

Note that for the Free Dining offers, you MUST purchase MYW tickets in a package, typically at least a 2-day base ticket.

What we did was buy our 7-day park hopper with water tickets through the YES program. Then we got a hotel package with 2 day base tickets in order to get the free dining package. The savings we made through the YES program sort of gets cancelled out this way (as the cost difference is about $50 in our favor). However, we also walk away from our trip with two two-day base tickets in our pockets to be used at a future date (like before our cruise the next year!)

I was really bummed when our August trip fell apart after the Direct Air situation. But it looks like we have a new plan and get to go sooner!!! So I need to call YES today and see if we can move our group program to June 21 or 22 (It a group reservation not individual so it should be OK I've done it in the past) Our group is now thinking they want to do Disney's animation magic instead of Ocean's Discoveries. Can anyone offer any feedback on the animation class? Thanks

Couple questions:

1. Do you buy the park tickets at the same time you register for class?
2. It will be me, DD6, my mom and my 2yr old. Will I be okay getting ticket for my mom? She'll be watching DD#2 during class time.
3. When does schedule typically come out for January and do classes for 6 yr old fill up pretty fast?

1. Yes, you pay during registration.

2. They say "parents", but it seems that is just to indicate that it's limited to two adult tickets. I would think buying a ticket for your mom as the second adult would work, but you could always call to confirm.

3. Not sure when the Jan classes came out, but the summer classes were available in early Feb. It depends on the class and the dates, but some of the summer classes filled the first day registration was open. All the classes during our week (August) were full last week when I checked.

The other reason to book ASAP is that there may not be many classes offered for that age group. For example, there is only one class the entire month of August for which a 5yo would meet the age requirement. There are several classes that work for my older DDs (8 and 13).

Were you able to get a refund on tickets for cancelling the class?

Yes, but only due to my health issues. They were very kind and understanding about my cancellation.

Sorry to hear about your health concerns. I hope you're well soon and can plan another trip!

Thank you.:goodvibes I don't know when we can plan another trip as of right now, things are up in the air as I'm undergoing tests. But thank you for your kind comments.

Thank you.:goodvibes It would've been nice to see someone from the Disboards on the field trip. Thank you for your nice comments too. I appreciate it.

I just checked online and the October 16th Wild By Nature class we had to cancel is now open (it was closed before). Hopefully someone else can enjoy those spots now, there were five of us.:goodvibes

Just a little note I'll post on this thread and the one for the Premiere Disney VISA upgrade. Our YES tickets didn't come up as qualifying for the 5% VISA Disney Rewards dollars. Ie., they weren't considered a Disney purchase because they aren't coming up on statements as a Disney purchase, just as 'Student Guest Service Tickets FL with a phone number'. But I called the number on the statement and he added the difference to the rewards ($17!) So if you get your tickets through this program and use your Premiere Disney reward card, you're going to have to call then to get the 5% back.

When I called I was told that tickets can be picked up at Disney Quest at DTD before 5. But when I purchased the tickets it listed the parks as a place to pick up tickets but did not list DTD.

Can tickets be picked up from DTD? I sure hope so. I don't want to spend the morning in line waiting for tickets.

My DD7 and I will also be in that class. I just registered and it is my DH's birthday that day.

So excited!! Just signed up DS (8) and DD (10) for the animation class in Aug!! So happy they still had room. They are really excited. We have never been able to get park hoppers or water park tickets before and the price with the Yes tickets was really reasonable, so we went for it. DS LOVES to draw comics, so I think this class is going to be great for him. DD likes to draw too. DH is going with. (I will be with the younger two that am.) Thanks for the tips. I am really excited about our trip! Plus we got a AAA discount off the new suites at AOA!! Perfect for our family of 6!! :cool1:

May I ask what % the AAA discount was for August? We haven't booked yet, but we would like to soon...hoping for the best discount possible.

It was 10%. Not the biggest discount, but we are too big for most rooms and I really am excited to stay on property. :thumbsup2
