My upcoming trip to Disney World is in early February. I am going for 7 days. I have typically go in September but we had to postpone this one a bit. I didn’t think much of the weather, but how cold does it actually get?

I’ve watched a few videos and some of them recommend even bringing hot hands. Google is saying the lows this time of year are in the 50s, which doesn’t sound like jacket weather.

I don’t plan on going to the parks all day either. Maybe just a few hours in the afternoon before the sun goes down. I’m assuming I’ll be at the parks during the highs, which are stated to be in the 70s. Is this accurate, and I’ll be able to get by with my normal short-sleeved shirts, or should I bring a long-sleeved shirt or two?

We take a WDW trip in late January each year. The temps generally get into the 60s or 70s each day but mornings can be pretty cold. Pack a sweatshirt or jacket and a pair of jeans. Layers are your friend.

Nobody can predict what you'll encounter this coming February. We can all recite what we experienced in past years but that's irrelevant.

If you go to any of the national weather sites and search for either Walt Disney World or Lake Buena Vista, FL you can see what the historical averages. But again, these are just a range of what you might experience.

ETA: Been living basically next door to WDW for 11+ years now and our February experience is all over the place. That's why I say to disregard what has happened in the past.

we've spent the last 2 febs at WDW, we stay all month at Fort Wilderness, some days you need a hoodie and jeans, some days shorts and a tee, mainly dry days which is nice, enjoy your trip, we are going last week of Jan and 3 weeks of Feb this winter

I remember a friend visited in early February 2018 (their first trip) and it was quite warm (high 80’s). Our early February trips have been pleasant, but cooler (70’s). Late February can be pretty comfortable in our experience, but of course Mother Nature can have other ideas and the parks are becoming more crowded.

Our late January visits (2020 was the last one) have been chilly and pretty overcast. We are trying to decide ourselves right now on what early winter month would work best next year.

We do late Jan/early February most years. The weather is a mix, but tends to be more days of warm and nice than cold. If you're there for a week, you'll likely have some cool nights, but you'll also likely have a day or 2 you can enjoy the pool! Having experienced the weather in September, we'll definitely take early February any day. So much nicer enjoying the parks when it's sunny and 60s/70s than when it's 90s with humidity and afternoon storms....... All that being said, cold fronts do reach down south that far at times, so nothing is for certain. But the odds favor comfortable weather in early February......

February is great not cold usually. So much more comfortable than September. Good choice

This year we wore hoodies/leggings into the park almost daily. There were a couple days we could go in Tshirts and shorts. The weather was nice but chilly enough to need the warmer clothes. We have been at Disney in February though and wore short sleeves all week. It wasn’t warm enough for me to swim and the hot tub was only lukewarm so not a lot of pool time this year

Florida is unpredictable. we could have a cold front or it could be cool or just warm breezy. i would say layer because it could be chilly in the morning and then get hot during day and you will want to remove the layers.

It's better than June through September. Not as hot or humid and less chance of rain.

We went in late Jan/early Feb this year - arrived 27 Jan and left on 10 Feb. The week before we arrived it was that insane week of record-breaking cold, rain, some parts of Florida had snow... It warmed up beautifully for our trip. For our first night (an AH party), I wore a light puffy jacket, but other than that it was pretty much t-shirt weather right up until the end of the other AH parties we did. For our final week it was even getting too hot for jeans during the day and queuing outside was uncomfortable.

As others have pointed out, the weather is super unpredictable, and is likely to be different every year. It was tricky for us as we were on an extended trip and had left home 10 days earlier before there was any sort of accuracy to weather forecasts, so I was more prepared for cold than warm (plus we visited Vegas first, where I definitely needed that winter clothing!). For most people, I would just wait and see what the forecast is looking like before you leave for your trip. And maybe add something warm and something summery no matter what the forecast is, so you have the options just in case!

I recently retired as a NOAA meteorologist and put together a webpage on WDW/central Florida weather to try to help people with questions like this.

I have a page off for weather for each month off this page where you can see how likely temperatures for different thresholds are, along with an overall narrative summary of the weather for that month. Glad to answer questions as well.

We are planning our trip for February. Your information is very helpful. Thanks!

I think what you’re used to is also very relevant. We went late January into early February last year, and next year will be going mid-February. By that point, we’ll have had a couple months of freezing temps and snow at home.

I get that temps change day to day, year to year. Last year, we were in the pool on a daily basis.

While 60s at WDW might be unpleasantly cold for some, we would love that warmth.

Pack everything! Jeans, shorts, tee shirts, Under Armor, light jacket, winter coat, hats , gloves, hand warmers and cooling towels. It can be anything in February.
Welcome to Florida! lol.

No one can accurately predict the weather that far in advance. Typical forecasts beyond 2-3 days aren't of much value since too many random things can impact the weather. I would always take a variety of clothing since even at the hottest times of the year, we found Disney restaurants to be too cold as if they had the AC turned up to max. If you take various articles of clothing you can always add/remove items based on the actual weather that day.

Probably also depends where you live since the northern part of the country usually has snow/cold in February while someone living in the south is used to weather that is more mild. You might think 60 is warm/cold depending on where you are traveling from.

All I'll add is that we were there in mid-Feb a couple of years ago and there was one day that was windy and cold and despite putting on all our layers we were not happy being outside all day. The rest of the days we were in shorts. So give yourself lots of options and one more layer than you think you might actually need.
