With only 3 months to go until our trip, I'm already in "training"! Yup, I'm trying to increase my exercise routine so as to prevent any blisters from developing in the parks and of course, fatigue. I'm also working on our itinerary for everyday to try to fit in as much as I can, in just a few days. I'll try to find some time to relax by the pool or have relaxing nights wandering around the hotels, but still.....

Does anyone else ever need a vacation from their Disney vacation? :p

We're not park commandos -- we rarely spend more than a couple of hours in the parks on any given day, and usually not more than a couple of days over the course of a week. So no, I'm not in need of a vacation when I come home from vacation. We've only had one trip like that it made us all stressed out, and I vowed never again. :) Of course, once you've seen everything, its a lot easier to relax while in WDW. If it were my first trip, I'd probably be singing a different tune. :)

I find that if I dont rest, I get cranky. Therefore, I go often if I cant stay for a long time. Ends up costing more in the long run so Id rather save up and go for a good 10-14 day trip. Ive tried the 4-5 day trips and I find a month or two later Im wangling another trip in when I really cant afford it, simply because I didnt get enough the first time. I am currently saving for what I hope to be a three week trip in Aug 2005. Hopefully that will satisfy me, but it appears we'll be buying annnual passes, which tend to burn holes in one's pockets. grin.
So I dont let myself get tired, I just promise myself Ill come back. Deep in debt, but disney satisfied. lol

Yes, we need a vacation after our WDW trip. That is why I like the land/sea combo. I get a vacation after my vacation. Nothing like a Disney cruise to relax and unwind!

I make sure to schedule in some down time, besides all off the running around. I agree with Snoopy about being able to take it all at a slower pace once you've been there a few times. I can now skip the attractions that really don't appeal to me without feeling like I've missed anything.

With DVC I know I'll be back and soon. So we do special things now - at least one per trip. We also adjust our schedule as needed to have the best time. For MVMCP and the recent Member homecoming that meant afternoon rests back in the room to get ready for late nights and sleeping later. Other times it means hitting the parks first thing and then coming back mid-day for a swim or a late lunch.

Vacation is time to relax and spend time with DH and we try and make the most of it.

I'm a reformed commando. We use to vacation at Disney commando style for years and then we stayed at the WL and it broke us. We actually wanted to just spend time and hang out at the resort and we enjoyed it, the WL changed our vacation style for ever.

We will be taking our first trip with DD in October. Nothing stresses me out more than having a whining, crabby child. We will be up and to the parks early because DD is an early riser. Then we will be back to the hotel for pool/nap time around lunch. And then do some evening activites. I plan on taking it easy with DD (and MIL) in tow. :)

We do more relaxing at WDW then on our beach vacations. I don't think we stay in the parks for more then a few hours a day. The rest of the time is spent at the volcano pool relaxing. Since we go twice a year we have no need to cram everything in. No we are not DVC but still go a lot.

I feel like that when I take other vacations but usually not at Disney. I schedule in down days and we sleep in and don't hit the parks commando-style. I figure if I can't fit in everything I want to do on this trip, I can always come back for another trip :p

My trip to the World is about 50 weeks away, but I'm already trying to figure out a way to plan in some relaxation time while fooling DH into thinking we're "doing everything." He has to see and do EVERYTHING...vacations with him are like a death march unless I exercise tight control...at theme parks, he doesn't even want to ever stop and eat at counter service (much less eat a sit down meal)...we keep going for hours after the rest of us have stopped having fun.

No rest for me. Total commando-style and I love it. The last day is very low key and relaxing. I save one more day off for when we get home before going back to work, for more resting.

I don't feel exhausted though even though I physically am. It's Disney, I never feel tired, and never get a hangover from Mexico's margarita's, how does Disney do it?....100% pure magic!!

My son-in-law would definitely agree that it's an oxymoron.. He HATED the entire trip and the only thing he really enjoyed was seeing the look on his little DD's face when she saw the characters and our dinner at the Race Rock Cafe..

Other than than, I'm sure he felt he had been sentenced to 2 weeks of hard labor - and we didn't even go "commando" style..

Wimp! LOL :rotfl:

I agree too.

IMO the way to do Disney, is to arrange equal time to chill out on a beach after time at the Parks :) A week at Disney,, then a week in the Florida Keys, doing absolutely nuffin

Hey, I'm with Catsrule!

I like to commando run, but one trip to Disney I took with my SIL, the queen of shoppers. Oh boy, I'd literally fall in the hotel door at night. She looked at every gift store item in the parks and dt disney I swear.
I lost 5 pounds in 7 days!
herc.

It had been 10 yrs since my last trip(see sig line) and even though I knew better I was trying to have too much fun the first few days and was making myself and my kids miserable. I slowed down and had a much better time. I didn't get to do everything I wanted to do,but in WDW you never can and it just gives me an excuse(like I need one) to go back.
