Disney World still cool in College?

Im starting college this fall too, and I love disney.

Plus I'm counting down until Harry Potter comes out.

The Mouse is cool no matter what age you are, I'm 20 years old, and a junior in college...and I'm going to Disney World for the 18th time this saturday, if people don't accept you for liking Disney, they honestly are totally lame people, in my opinion.

I'll always be a Disney kid at heart.

Yup, everyone has their own tastes and some immature people will be jerks about it and say disney sucks or whatever. In college things get better than HS though, as the kids mature a bit. I had a whole new experience in college when going to Disney. This time we took down some special brownies and had a wild time! Pleasure Island is nothing to make fun of either!

I'll be a college freshman this coming august, and I still love Disney and the parks. I feel that for spring break, if you want to avoid the drunks, druggies, and wild behavior but still want to party it up, Disney parks are the place for you.

Personally, if I go to Florida for spring break or a different time of the year, I won't mind taking a side trip to see Mickey and the gang.

I also am looking into possibly going into the College Program, but I'm not sure if my college will let me go. We'll see.

Most definitely Disney never gets old. im 20 and been to disney world about 35 times if not more and still going. I love it there i would say its my home away from home. I would actually love to move down to florida and work for disney even on the ships will do. which also are just the best.

I have three college age kids. You can't keep them out of disney. Of course they blame it on me. But most of their friends know we love all things Disney around our house.

i get teased by my buddies about how much of a disney nerd i am... but i don't care...shoot they've treated me just fine and i can't say i have no reason to not like it...just becuz its "a kids place"...I still go to WDW as much as i can no matter what people say...

In my neck of the woods everyone loves Disney it seems I just graduated this June and all of my friends were jealous that I was treating myself to a trip to WDW the week after graduation. Besides who cares what others think...at the end of the day does it really matter that your friend doesn't think it's cool that you went to Disney World and had the time of your life?

You never grow too old for Disney. The Polynesian is unbelievably relaxing, I always find something new at WDW every time I am there.

I am in my 5th year at college and love Disney World. I wanted to do the CP but it didn't work out into my plans. However, I will be getting married there next semester. I am getting the usual responses from my friends with planning a wedding there, but most are looking forward to it. One of my friends has never been to WDW but been to DL and just wants to go down for the wedding, I am trying to get her at least to EPCOT. She's not too thrilled with this. You will have those people that think Disney World is for younger kids, but college kids enjoy it too. Just this last Spring I went on a college class trip and we spent 2 days in Disney World before a cruise. Everyone had a great time. Most college kids actually tend to like EPCOT and Pleasure Island as they get older, I know I have.

I'm not in college, but I'm 22, so I'm certainly of that age. Last year, my friends and I had a mini Little Mermaid release party, and we also all tend to blast Disney music in our cars. My point: to us, it's not only acceptable, it's down-right COOL!

And those of my friends who aren't the Disney Junkie I am just take it in stride and call me "That Disney Chick".

I'm 22, entering my 5th year of college and sooooo not afraid to say that it is my favorite place in the world. i've only been twice, and my first time was when i was 21. it is the happiest place on earth and those who think it's just for kids really don't know what they're talking about.

One of the great things about the college experience is that no matter whatever your interests be whether they are Disney, the X-Games, fishing, whatever, you are definitely going to find a group of people who share the same interests. Even in a large public high school maybe there would be 2-3 thousand students. An average college will easily have three to four times that many students, so finding people that share you interests should not be difficult. It may take a few weeks, months, maybe even a semester or two to find them, but once you do you will be able to have a great college experience and hopefully friends for life.

I have a semi-related question. What is the best Disney World resort to stay at for twenty-somethings?

I have never been to Disney World but I am going down with a few friends for spring break using my uncles Disney Vacation Club points and we cant decide where we want to stay. The consensus is Vero Beach but from what I read it doesnt look like there is much to do there for a group of 21 year old guys. Plus its over an hour away. Do they even have any kind of bars on the beach? We arent seeking anything worthy of girls gone wild but would like to be around other people our age and be able to have a few drinks if we want. My friends want to go to a beach but unless Vero is better than what it seems I think that plan will have to change. My uncle recommended Fort Wilderness Lodge which is what Im trying to convince them to go with.

Boardwalk maybe?

You can get started at the WSC and move on the the boardwalk and get hammered. Crowd there is usually ok and its a very close walk. Other than that, Wilderness lodge sounds good. Most of the 21 and up bars are at DTD anyways, and busses are easy to catch from there. The resorts, for the most part, just have lounges. If you're into that though, hit up the California Grill at the Contemporary. Nice place with a good view of the magic kingdom and fireworks.

I think that the views of college kids will echo those of adults. As an adult, I'm sure some of your own friends have greeted your vacation plans with "You're going to Disney AGAIN".

People are ignorant, misinformed, or just don't know much about WDW. You'll find this among adults, and among college students.

The thing about college though, is that you have a much bigger population of people than you do at a high school. Not only that, but you have people from all different areas and backgrounds with all different interests. Your son might meet people who love Disney, and he might be met with some looks when he tells them that he loves going there.

But the real question is...WHO CARES? People like different things. Different strokes for different folks, ya know? I like Disney, and I do defend it when people roll their eyes at me, but I for the life of me think that watching football is boring and pointless, no matter how many times people try to explain it to me. Part of life is tolerating others preferences, as well as learning that not everyone will like yours.
