Disney World needs more Mickey Mouse

I know that sounds crazy, but hear me out. So really in all 4 parks you can meet Mickey and the classic disney characters--Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Pluto. That's great. But why is it that the only Mickey and friends-related attraction is the Philharmagic? I think there needs to be another high-quality attraction featuring the classic crew of disney characters.

You have individual attractions themed to the following disney properties: Winnie the pooh, peter pan, the seven dwarves, Aladdin, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Dumbo, Monster's Inc., the little mermaid, Swiss Family Robinson, Tom Sawyer, Stitch (!), Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King. Finding Nemo warrants two Epcot attractions. Toy Story has rides in both MK and HS. They even have a huge ride themed to Song of the South, which is a movie nobody has watched in 30 years. Many of the characters in these properties also do M&G sessions.

All of that's well and good, but I think its strange the only attraction featuring Disney's great classic cartoons is a 3-D movie! I know the kiddy coaster is themed to Goofy but really that barely counts. They need a big headliner!

Is the Hollywood Studios rehab going to involve an attraction related to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse?

Fantasmic features Classic Mickey, Brave Little Tailor Mickey, and Sorcerer Mickey. Minnie and Pluto are prominently placed on Steamboat Willie.

The Disney Junior show is already pretty heavily Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
I also miss Toontown! We just got to see it in DL :)

Yea I mean most of the big shows and parades feature these characters extensively. I just wonder why there's no ride for them.

I think the writing was on the wall when they tore down Toontown. Lots of rumors circulating about the future of Toontown at DLR these days as well.

I was really surprised when they took down WDW's Toontown. Not because it was great, but because it was the home of fab five.

I agree with the OP... it'd be really nice to see an E-ticket ride featuring the most important characters in the park: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto.

Barnstormer is Mickey and Friends (Goofy). But yes they should have a mickey mouse ride or a water ride involving donald and daisy.

We liked Donald's Boat before it became so ragged. I'd be in favor of adding a Mickey ride of some kind.

It wouldn't hurt if Disney actually did something with Mickey ANYWHERE.

They did one cartoon short... ok great.
They pumped a lot of money into a mediocre video game... not sticking to their strength.

Disney doesn't seem to be eager to push their icon much of anywhere recently.

There are quite a few shorts now. I think they're cute and fun. Also, mickey mouse clubhouse is huge with the little ones! Between my daughter and nephew, I've been watching it for about 5 years. But I'd still like to see him more :)

1. I agree with the general assertion. I understand why they had to pave over Toontown as part of the FLE, but I do sorely miss it. The whole concept was brilliant. No more Mickey Mouse Review. No more Main Street Cinema. No more Mayor's House. Mickey has largely been subordinated to Princesses.

2. That said, I don't have a young child anymore. How prevalent is Mickey Mouse in the media-driven consciousness today? The Mickey Mouse Club is a distant memory, right? Feature films do not start off with Mickey cartoons as they did in the 30's, 40's and 50's. There hasn't been a feature film with Mickey in generations. If parents didn't thrust Mickey onto their kids, would kids come upon Mickey organically? Is he a big deal to kids today? If you asked a child of 6 to rate his/her favorite characters in order, would Mickey make the Top 10? Top 20? Top 30? As adults, we miss the big guy. But do kids notice or care?

They are also featured in the Festival of Fantasy Parade, the Move it Shake it party, have the stage show Dream Along with Mickey, Celebrate the Magic features Walt's quote about it all starting with a mouse, Fantasia is featured in Great Movie Ride, Mickey is the star of Fantasmic! and appears in several forms during that show.

The Fab 5 are all throughout the parks in more of an ever-present sort of way rather than a specific location which works better IMO. If I didn't want to be around a specific character, I just avoid their ride. But there is no avoiding Mickey.

Yeah it was more when there was Toontown but there's probably still enough, like people were saying before

My kids fell in love with the new Mickey Mouse shorts when we were at WDW. The hotels have a channel that plays them practically 24 hours a day. I love that they're doing updated Mickey shorts and it totally works. I hope they find a way to make them more prominent on their channels.

It depends on the kid. He would definitely be in the top of the list of my kids. They started watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse when they were small, and discovered the original cartoons (and the fact that he's 'not just for babies') some years later. Now they're hooked. But I know what you mean, Mickey Mouse is still largely untapped potential. The shorts are a nice first step.
