Disney won't honor my discount PIN!?

Maybe someone can PLEASE explain... I booked my disney vacation through a friend who is a travel agent. A few weeks after we paid in full, I received a postcard in the mail with a pin for 10% off. There was a specific time frame on it, but part of the time was when we would be there. My LO decided that since it was disney it was hers so I had to call Disney and get my pin # for my travel agent. After passing along the pin, she calls me back. She tells me something about how they can't give me the discount because the room we booked is sold out, but if we want we can upgrade to a garden view for $30 total. I am VERY confused! We were looking forward to using the money we got back from the discount IN the parks! So they would get the money anyway!!

PLEASE someone explain WHY Disney won't honor the pin!

I don't understand what is confusing you? When Disney offers discounts they only allot a certain amount of rooms for that discount. The room you want is sold out. Are you willing to switch resorts? Maybe another resort in the same category has rooms available with your discount.

Disney only offers "x" number of rooms in "x" resorts with "x" views per discount code, pin, etc. Your TA is telling you that your particular room category/view is sold out for that particular PIN number but a higher view is available with that discount.

The room you have booked at the resort you have booked at the time frame you are booked does not have any rooms available for your discount.

Disney does not allocate all it's rooms to a discount. Some resorts may have NO rooms under any specific discount because they do not NEED to offer a discount as their occupancy is already high enough.

I hear ya Op.
I got a pin for free dine but was unable to use it because they said there was no room (preferred) available. and for us, the room location was more important then food, at least thats how we feel right now ,,,,since i already booked le cellier for lunch and some others, it may have been a crazy idea, but I loathe making a change since I had to reschedule this getaway once already.and we also have non expires.....so....we'll go with the flow this trip without dine plan...which I must say is not typical for us....atleast I have the dining times booked..

Disney WILL honor your pin - they will give you 10% off any room that is left in their inventory for that particular discount. If you decide that you aren't happy with the rooms left in their inventory for your particular pin, then it isn't Disney not honoring their pin, it's you not wanting what they have to offer. You have to decide what is more important to you - saving money, or staying in the resort you already have booked, but is sold out for your pin promotion.

OP, in your situation most of us would be crowing, "I got a PIN and got to upgrade my view for only $30!"

Seriously, what the others said is true. Not every room is available for every discount. If they're not having trouble filling up the standard view rooms, those won't be available with the discount, only the "better" views will be, the rooms that have a higher rack-rate.

I'd take free dining over a preferred room any day, I requested the building and view *water* I wanted at POP and we got it, the P rooms are close to the pools *noise*, we were very close to the busses & food court.

Thank you so much for all the info! I was very confused but you have cleared it up! I was happy with the upgrade but disappointed and confused as well. I called my TA and had her book the upgrade

Now if only I can find info on what royal rooms at riverside have the garden view I will be set lol

Sorry if I came of ungrateful...still happy and STILL going to be in WDW in a few weeks so no complaints

aside from the view...any other benefits of the upgrade?

OP, I feel your pain. We got a 30% PIN for our Nov travel dates but for the week we were originally going, only more expensive category rooms were left. So using the PIN actually was going to end up costing us money for a view we didn't really want or need. Luckily, we were able to move our trip up a week and tons of rooms opened up that we could book with our PIN. We were able to book exactly what we wanted and saved a ton. So maybe look at moving your dates if you can.
