i'll post this on the cruise forum as well, but i trust people's opinions on this board...
so...

i'm thinking of booking on the 2nd podcast cruise (and maybe i'll actually get to go on it this time  )

i don't know yet whether my favorite stateroom is available for that cruise (midship cat 3), but i was thinking about switching to one of the aft, handicap accessible cat 3 staterooms...

has anybody been in one?

if so, i have two questions for you:

1. how are aft staterooms in terms of up and down movement of the ship?....do you feel the movement a lot? i have motion sickness issues, but the midship location wasn't a problem for me...i was wondering how the aft would be

2. did you like the aft HA cat 3 stateroom? i know the layout is different from the midship cat 3.
But the verandah is so huge, i thought that maybe it would be worth it if i have to give up on some of the internal cabin room...

any opinions?

Fore, Mid, or Aft doesn't matter as much as elevation. The higher the deck, the farther from relative center of gravity, so you move more. In the aft, I did notice slightly more screw or propellor noise, but not so much as to be a nuisance.

We were aft on deck 6 and didn't have any problems with motion! We felt a little, of course, but it wasn't too bad. :thumbsup2

everyone always says that and everything i read says the same thing as well...the lower the better....yet all three of the times i was on a ship, the lower i was, the worse i felt....perhaps it was in my head..:confused3

thanks.....i was just looking at the pictures from someone who posts on the UK board.....the shots of them sitting on the verandah are so amazing....it's like having your own private yacht....

We cruised on the Wonder 11 night Southern in 2006 and stayed in aft on deck 6 with no problems. We didn't notice much difference to staying mid ship. I would have no problems with staying 6 aft again, though I don't know if it makes a difference staying on a lower deck with ship noise and vibration.

We stayed in 8602 on PCC 1.0 and it was great. The verandah is huge - we had our Twigirl & Twiguy Coven Meet for about 20 people on it and there was plenty of room. 8602 only has 2 beds (a queen in the bedroom and a pull out couch). We had 4 adults and I slept on a really horrible cot. There is also a really nice soaker tub in the master bathroom. I have never seen any other Cat 3 staterooms but we had plenty of room. AskTracy came to see 8602 so she should be able to tell you the differences between a regular Cat 3 and a HA Cat 3.

We didn't really notice much ship movement except for the last night. Having said that thought, I don't have a problem with motion sickness and PCC 1.0 was a very smooth cruise. (I have been on other ships where the dishes on the dining room tables moved and the shows had to be cancelled so the dancers wouldn't injure themselves.)

Check my facebook pictures for my stateroom pics.

just checked out your FB pictures - amazing how many people were there...

I suffer from motion sickness pretty badly and we really enjoy having the aft rooms. We always book aft deck 6 when possible and it has always been much better than the feeling I get when we are forward on the ship. Also, if you are aft, you are a quick few steps up from the drink station, the buffet, etc on deck 9.
