Disney Wonder September 3, 2012. Seattle to Vancouver 7 night Alaska Cruise!

Hi shipmates

This will be our 4th Disney cruise the 5th will be the b2b to LA

Looks like a lot of us are doing the b2b, should be fun.

Flights and hotel in Seatle booked, have two days in Seatle before cruise to have a look around the city.

Have we got a name for this cruise?

Jane and David

Hi Jane and David :) We will be on the back to back with you, and then heading back across the Atlantic too :goodvibes

I haven't seen any mention of a name for the cruise, roll call, etc yet:confused3 I guess this is a low key group (which is fine by me--I love the action but then again I love mellow too).

Hi Jane and David, welcome to the cruise group!

Hi!
I posted back on the 1st page but have been off the boards for a while. SO happy to see more people on this cruise!

As a re-introduction: My DH (Donny) and I (Tarin) are disney fanatics and this will be our 4th cruise (B2B will be our 5th). We have been on the Magic twice and the Dream - looking forward to getting to know the Wonder :-)

I emailed about the FE - are we still doing that?

Hey Tarin--do you pronounce your name like it rhymes with Karen, or is the last syllable an "-een"--I want to "hear" it right in my head so I say ti right when we meet.:goodvibes

Yup the FE is still on!!

Who is setting it up? Who should I contact to be a part of it? Thanks:goodvibes

I was browsing excursions for this cruise tonight.

Normally excursions don't sound appealing to me and we much prefer to do our own thing. And normally our own thing is much cheaper.

Darn it if there aren't a whole lot of things which sound great and a cursory search online comes up with very similar prices even if we do it on our own.

I hope I can find better prices for doing it ourselves when I have more time to really research; there is just too much which sounds good and it will add up fast:eek:

Does anyone else have tentative plans yet of what they want to do (through DCL or on your own)?

I have been doing very same thing this weekend!
I normally hate organised tours and usually sort out stuff on our own or sharing taxi with friends. But this might be not so easy this trip! I will anyhow be looking for most natural experiences, minimal organised activity if you follow me.
If anyone finds any ideas re trips and excursions then please post!
:surfweb::)

I was looking at the more active things: sea kayaking, hiking, bike trip and rock climbing. 2 or 3 of those for four people easily costs more than the cruise though

Thanks for the link Mellers. At fist glance it looks like a good possiblity:goodvibes :thumbsup2

I have to wait for more serious research for a week or so and then I need to get opinions from family too. It is just overwhelmed me that there is so much that sounds so appealing that you can;t easily do on your own:rotfl: So different than cruising the Caribbean or Europe.

I have to admit, I was a little disappointed by the port adventure prices, after the amount we paid for the cruise! Some of them do look pretty amazing, though!

With our DS being at the age he is, and with some of his disabilities, we are not planing any formal excursions at this point. Our plan is to leisurely get off of the ship, stroll through towns, looking at shops, get some coffee, and probably buy way too many souvenirs. ;) If DS happens to be doing great, and we see a tour or something that looks great, we will join it then.

If I had to guess, I would think the only ones we would possibly do is the tram up the hillside (if the fog is not bad), and there is a duck tour in Ketchikan that looks great! Other than that, we are playing the "fly by the seat of our pants" game! :)

Here's the link to the Duck Tour, but I wouldn't bother booking in advance--it's pretty easy to get "day of", and the ticket kiosk is right on the dock:

Those who are looking at excursions this week might want to check out my earlier post. Last year, I made up a comparison of excursions at the various ports, both on your own and through Disney, and some other people added some great suggestions of their own--there's references to their posts in the original post:

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=43653480&postcount=23

Also, there is some great advice on the Alaska Excursions thread, if you haven't checked it out yet.

If anyone has children between 10 and 12 years old, you definitely want to book on your own, because they are adults according to Disney, and children according to most tour operators.

Making myself crazy waiting for this trip! I'm so excited!

I still have to get flights. We are coming from NY and are going to do separate one way flights. I don't know if I should book now or wait a few months and hope for better prices?!

If you are doing separate one-ways, you will probably have the best luck with Alaska Airlines, Virgin America or Southwest. I would probably wait a bit, unless Iran cuts off the Strait of Hormuz.

Hi all!! :wave2: DH and I will be joining you all on this cruise (and the B2B). It will be my first cruise as platinum :cool1: We have been looking forward to an Alaskan cruise for a long time. We booked this cruise back in Oct along with a Mexican Riv cruise that we just took a few weeks ago! So now I guess its time to start focusing on Alaska!!
We are joined on this cruise by my parents and sister (KLMchemist) This will be our 5th cruise on the Wonder, and I will have done 5 on the Magic and one on the Dream! We have been DVC members for 10 years. We have 3 kids DD21, DS19, and DS17, none of which will be traveling with us.

We just booked our Alaska Cruise...YEA!!! Will just be me and the DH on this one. So looking forward to the Wonderful Adventures that await us.
