Disney Wonder September 3, 2012. Seattle to Vancouver 7 night Alaska Cruise!

I'm not on this cruise yet... but I was just reading...

The issues with the b2b are probably taken care of by the fact that the cruise is ending in the foreign port instead of going back to Seattle.

It's probably considered a Repo cruise. And it would probably come under the same rules that apply when they take the ships overseas. When they do the repos from Barcelona, it starts in a foreign country and ends up in the USA. Yes, it does stop in other countries, but Bringing the ship from Canada might be why they can do the b2b. It will be interesting to find out. My mom and I want to do both the cruises also.

I am a bit worried that there will not be any kids on this cruise. (maybe a september cruise to Alaska is just not very popular with families?? We homeschool, maybe everyone else is back to school?)

Hello! My name is Lisa. My DH and myself are going on our "honeymoon" after almost 14 years of marriage. We are leaving the kiddies home with my MIL and sailing the 7 seas to Alaska! Will you be on this trip or did you go last year?

Hello! My name is Lisa and my DH is Eddie! This is our second DISNEY cruise. We took one 10 years ago aboard the Wonder to the Bahamas! This year we will be traveling without out our 4 children - they will be staying home with my MIL. This will be the honeymoon we never took and our 14 year anniversary! Looking forward to meeting all of you and enjoying the beautiful scenery in Alaska!

Lisa :)

p.s. I'm a little confused on the whole get on in Seattle - get off in Vancouver thing?!? We are flying - and Disney is taking care of our arrangements - so I'm assuming we don't have anything to worry about?!?

We homeschool to and our kids will be on this cruise.

My daughter is on the older side, 16, but she is going on the cruise. There are likely to be more 16-18 year olds on the cruise, because of a Washington State public school program that allows them to attend college and simultaneously get college and high school credits. Doubtless there will be some homeschoolers as well.

If Disney is taking care of your arrangements, I wouldn't think you would have any problems. If you need to, for any reason, get from one airport to another (SEA-YVR or YVR-SEA), there is a shuttle which runs between the airports. QuickShuttle also runs shuttles between both airports and both ports.

The one thing about which you may want to be careful is if you, or your kids or in-laws, have pre-existing conditions, you may want to go with CSA travel insurance. If your pre-existing conditions (or theirs, because they get sick) prevent you from traveling and they arise before your final payment date or are not covered by the lookback period, you could be out big $$$ for medical care. DCL insurance doesn't cover pre-existing conditions, and since everybody in my family is under treatment, we will never buy it.

However, if your family has no pre-existing conditions and none arise during the time between now and final payment, you should be okay.

We live between WA and CA and our oldest will be participating in the Running Start program. (CA allows high school kids to do concurrent enrollment is college as well.) My 10 year old is just so wanting to meet some other kids for the cruise. LOL Unfortunately our oldest kids will not be joining us for this cruise.... they actually claimed to have other engagements! (where did I go wrong...LOL)

I am currently waiting for a call back from a representative from Shoreside Guest Services (I had sent an email to DCL a couple of weeks ago and just received a reply today asking me to contact this representative in particular). As soon as I get a call back I will let you know what I find out.

I just spoke with a representative from Shoreside Guest Services at Disney Cruise Lines. He informed me that they actually DO NOT know as of yet weather or not the B2B will be possible with the Sept. 3 and Sept 10 itinerary. In fact it sounds like they are still working out the details of the May cruise schedule from LA to Vancouver and then Vancouver to Seattle for those wishing to do the B2B on that one.

So bottom line...the 9/3 and 9/10 B2B is STILL questionable and is NOT YET approved thru DCL and Customs.

I asked him to please flag my email and let me know as soon as they have a solid answer as to if this B2B is possible.

Do you mind sharing your kids' ages? We would love to get to know another homeschooling Disney family! LOL

They are DS16, DS15, DD13, DS11 and we are from Australia only the kids have no idea about the cruises they have only recently found out about our trip and we have kept this last bit a surprise they a still trying to work out how we are getting to Alaska :)

I called shoreside Guest services myself today after reading this because a DCL representative had already checked for me and told me this B2B was fine and I am shocked that we have to wait until after the May cruise to find out whether or not we can do the Sept one and how they will handle it, to tell the truth i am extremely unhappy that they have allowed us to book a cruise that they are not even sure we will be able to do:headache:

Does anyone have an idea of how many people are doing the FE? I want to start getting things together soon, and would like an idea of how many people are participating.

Hi Everyone!

Just so you all know I am in Puerto Rico and flying back in tomorrow. I will update everyone on the FE as soon as I get back (Saturday)

As per my post on the repo thread. I will play the waiting game and hope for the best. It's Disney's error, so they have to deal with it. If we do get "kicked off" in Vancouver, it will be bad publicity for DCL. And i would expect refund. There may be a fair few b2b people, as not everyone uses Dis boards, so difficult to assess how many it will affect. My preference is for the Alaska cruise over the repo. We could fly to San Fran for a few days and then drive to LA for our week we have booked in Disneyland and still have a good vacation. Not the same, but doable.

Just called Disney. They have received word about the May repositioning B2B cruise. They are making everyone switch staterooms, pack up disembark and re-board in Vancouver in new rooms with their stuff. No news about September yet, but it would not surprise me if the same thing happens...
