Evening folks? Every one packed? Any docs yet? :jumping1:

I'm 0/3.

I feel stupid and this is off-topic, but I'm scared to post over on the DISabilities board. I figured I'd bounce this off you guys and hopefully get some opinions.

I was forced to rent a wheelchair last year at Disneyland because of my feet. I've been in physical therapy for plantar fasciitis, and they told me that I could resume normal activities, but I worked at the Renaissance Festival this weekend, and now I don't think I can treat WDW as "normal". The pain on Saturday was tolerable, but I was barely able to walk on Sunday and spent most of the day sitting on the thrones while the royal court was away. I wore my special shoes with their special insoles! I spent most of yesterday off my feet, but today they're *still* significantly swollen. I can't seem to get the swelling to go down, and I've taken over-the-counter medication. I don't want to get a wheelchair, but am I deluding myself? I know I'm fat, and I know that's a big factor, but I swear that I'm trying to get more active and lose weight. Would it be wrong of me to rent a wheelchair? Should I try to tough it out? It's such an expensive vacation, I hate to spoil it with my inability to keep up.

Thanks for listening, guys.

Honestly, I would not risk your being able to vacation WITHOUT a wheelchair. Its not like you went to the Ren fair to make yourself swollen etc. I wouldn't sweat it. Get a wheelchair, so I can follow you in the lines. :) jk! No really, get a wheelchair. Your feet and your family will thank you for it.

Dawn 1st of all :grouphug: . I am embarrased to say I don't know what it is you have and how serious it is  Are you doing DW too? What does your dh think? I wish I could be more helpful but wanted you to know you have our support :goodvibes

Wait he can't even drive and he has a car. Aww man...what a lucky kid! My mom's against me buying a car. :sad2: But I do understand where her argument is coming from. I'm gonna need a good amount of money when I get out of college so I can start paying off school and everything, and I won't really have that if I buy a car. :p Shoot, I wouldn't get insurance on the car until I could drive it...too much money comin out of my bank account each month! :rotfl:
It's a used car, nothing major. A neighbor of my mom's was selling it and it was too good a deal to pass up. He's excited to have "his" car waiting for him. To be honest, it's been a Godsend that it's here, my a.c. is constantly going out in my car and I am able to use his when mine's in the shop. :teeth: He's a good kid, he doesn't even mind. Then again, he can't drive it anyway so what the heck. He has his permit so sometimes when we go out, I let him drive it so he gets used to it. He likes it!

The first day seemed to go well for everyone! :thumbsup2 Teia has lots of friends from her Kindergarten class in her class this year so she's very happy. Conor had a great time, he has awesome teachers, he's in the toughest classes in the school. God bless him, I won't be able to help him at all! :rotfl: :lmao: Logan seems to like his classes too. He was disappointed that he only has one good friend at lunch but I'm sure that will change very soon. He had a crazy day because I had to meet him at the bus and run him straight to work, then get to Teia's car line. I got there on the late side so I had to wait quite awhile. The rest of the week will be easier since he's off. Phew! :lmao:

Awww, in my case my arches are too high, and I spent too long without proper arch supports. I'm not really completely sure of what happened, but the muscles are shortened, the arch tries to collapse, and the fatty pad on the bottom of my heel isn't all there anymore, so I'm walking on bone. I think. There are excercises I do to help stretch the muscles, I have arch supports, and for normal everyday walking I'm just fine. My feet can get sore, but nowhere near the can't-walk-or-I'll-pass-out pain I got when I was on my feet all day. I don't have any idea why my feet are still swollen two days later, that shouldn't have anything to do with the plantar fasciitis.

My DH is completely supportive. He'll do whatever I decide to do. But when I go over to the DISabilities board, I see people who have it soo much worse than I do, and I feel horribly guilty for even contemplating getting a wheelchair.

I don't think you should feel gulty one bit. Everyone could say that someone is worse off then they are but you have to do what's right for you. If you are going to be doing lots of walking it sounds as if you really need to get the wheelchair. :grouphug:

Dawn, go for the wheelchair! It will elminate any issues and your mind will be at ease. Your vacation will be ruined if you have to spend it in pain. Make it easy on yourself. Everyone will understand and help you, I'm sure of it!

So glad the first day went so well....sorta :woohoo:

Ahh the valet pick up. I almost had to be in three of them this year, but the eldest's dd's teacher said dd could wait with Dbro. *whew!* I tried looking for a signal for the laptop while in the school valet car line last year....no luck. No DISing while waiting.
