I did get on and read the posts...but I didn't have anything interesting to say. And you didn't have anything interesting to comment on.

excuse me... there was plenty for you to comment on! what about the whole 'ds' conversation?? i know you could have said something informative then. and you could have said anything you pleased :lmao:

haha.

Well, slow night on here it seems..

I finally found my Disney Visa Rewards Card.. thank god, I was flipping out! I am using the rewards dollars I accumulated to pay for my transfer to the ship... and I'll have enough left over to pay for the Stingray Excursion, yay :)

Does anyone know if there are specific times these busses run? The guy, last time I called, said we could just hop over to the airport from our hotel at any time and hop on a bus and pay right then. I told him I'd definitely call back and reserve before hand (I just didn't have the $$ at that time) because that seemed to be taking too much of a risk!

What a quiet night!

I'm off to have some reading time before dreaded Monday. Of course, when Monday gets here it means we have LESS THAN FOUR WEEKS to go. So it's not such a bad thing after all!

:woohoo:

Night all.

does seem really slow tonight. i think it's been slow today in general.

glad you found your card patsy!! that must be a relief.

well i think i'm about to turn in. get to bed early. all my late nights caught up with me. late night thursday. late night last night. blah. and i gotta get up and run tomorrow. i was kind of bad this past week cause it was so hot. but no more excuses! it's got to get done!

goodnight everyone! :wave2:

Can't you take the shuttle from your hotel to a Disney Resort and pay there or do you have to go back to the airport?

I'm confused, why would I go to a Disney Resort?

lol

What is the Brickyard 400?? Sounds familiar.. lol.. but I don't follow racing.

Michael is actually in Indianapolis at some race right now :)
Then he is probably at it. It is a NASCAR :car: race. One of a series that the drivers get points based on how they finish (I guess--I really don't follow it, but Stewart is from Indiana so I watch him.)

We went one time before we moved here. It is NOISY. People wear ear plugs AND head sets to cover their ears. The cars go around and around the track that the INDY 500 is on but not as many laps as this is the 400. The fellow who won surprised everyone. He also won Daytona and I guess that no one ever won those two races in the same year before.

Good luck there.....I used to work in a facility that had a lockdown unit for dementia and it was wonderful. Couches, a big TV that always played old movies, a "gift shop" (full of donated fun items like big hats and costume jewelry), a dining hall that looked more like a giant cozy kitchen, and a dog. A nice facility makes so much of a difference.

DH's mother had Alzheimers, so I understand. Best wishes/prayers.
Thanks for sharing :thumbsup2 . This is the kind of advice I need to get so I know what to look for. I have been doing some reading but want practical ideas too!! :cheer2: DISers are the greatest! :cheer2:

Thanks for the  also. It is hard to be with her as it is not my Mom any more. It is a scared little-kid-old-lady and occasionally my Mom peaks through. DH can get her laughing--he is so good with her. But she needs 24 hour coverage. We could not have her here as our condo is so small, there would be no privacy and she could walk out the door and get lost in the building or the city in a flash.

Hmm.. must be where he is.
I don't know, he'll be back tomorrow and I'll ask..

And nope, we're going to Disney after the cruise and HOPEFULLY Universal before if I get my cousin in check.
If not we'll spend a wonderful day by the pool and in the jacuzzi and probably order a Pay-Per-View movie and chill in the room that night :)

We didn't want to feel rushed the morning of the cruise so we're flying in around noon the day before to make sure we're ultra relaxed.
Annoyingly, we're flying different airlines.. so I'm probably going to be as bad as a mother making sure Michael knows exactly where he is going and where he is to meet me. All his flights leave before mine, I made sure of that.. I'd rather him be alone waiting there for me and me knowing he's there than me worrying if he even made it on the plane. Things like that freak me out, I would be a crazy mother! I'll watch him board the plane before I even go to my own gate, I promise you.. sure, he's older than me and capable of taking care of himself but I'm a worry wart and I'm making sure everything goes smooth!

That and the only time he ever flew before was to his sisters funeral in Maine in June.. :( (Surprisingly, to me anyway, the Air Force paid for a plane ticket for him and his parents to attend the funeral.)

Well, now you know a bit about the BRICKYARD 400. The fellow who won was Jimmie Johnson. After he won he went and got the checkered flag--that they wave to show the race is over--and drove :car:around the track waving the flag at the crowd. He managed to make smoke come out from under his car--DH thinks he had the front brakes on and was spinning the back tires and wearing them down. It was an amazing cloud of smoke. You can read more about it at the newspaper:
http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060806/SPORTS01/60806007
and then Michael will be amazed when you can talk to him about it. :cool1:

Why do you and Michael have different flights from the same airport? Any chance you can go standby on his plane?

Was his sister in the Air Force? That might be why they paid for him to get to her funeral. How did she die? I wonder why she was buried in Maine instead of where the family lives near you. :confused3
Jan :earsgirl:

I had credit left over on an airline from my flights from Europe, so when I booked a flight through that airline it only cost me 4.90.. but to book Michael on the same flights was more money than either of us had, so he's on Southwest.

His sister's husband was in the Air Force. She had cancer. I don't remember which type, Michael is really quiet and I only remember him mentioning it when she was diagnosed in December, in March when they told her she was fine and then when I came back from Europe in June.. that the doctors had been wrong and she had died while I was away. (At least I think that is the stream of how things happened.. if not, it was awfully close.)
Her husband's family had funeral plots in Maine, so that is where she was buried. He husband will be buried next to her..
She was only 19 and left behind a son :(

*edit*
Oh, I found a better picture of Michael than the Bingo one..
This is actually him and Michelle, the sister I was talking about up there..

:thumbsup2 Ditto on reading the sugaswim-purplern dialog. Very funny. :rotfl2:
We did go to church:car:, then got a few groceries. I wore my Tevas.

Came home, put air in the bike tires and rode 8 miles on a bike trail that used to be RR tracks through Indianapolis to stop for a light lunch at a Mexican restaurant :woohoo: we saw when we did it last time. Then 8 miles back. It is 84 at the airport so probably more in the city. I should have made one more water stop:drinking:--I was pretty light headed that last couple blocks :guilty: . DH was waiting for me at the condo garage worried that I had a problem as he could not see me from where he was. I was coming--just at my own pace. (I need a smilie that is a turtle.)

Came in the condo and flaked out in my recliner chair. DH brought me a wet towel and laid it on my forehead. :cheer2: What a guy! Then he brought WATER and later Margeritta's:drinking1: and chips.

I think I actually took a nap after the Brickyard 400 was over. Tony Stewart came in 9th. He is my guy. I am so non-sports-oriented it is funny when I pay any attention to anyone. But I like his smile and he has a good attitude. They all seem to.

so, back to playing catch up.

Next I will do some research on Alzheimer's facilities in the area and some tours this week if I can get them in. Mother is in need of more care :sad2: than my brother can provide. He and my sister have been taking care of her in their homes but she needs professional 24 hour supervision now and he needs some sleep at night. So, now it is my turn so we will move her closer to us.
Jan :earsgirl:

Wow, sounds like you had a really busy, yet nice day. Cool that your sweetie was there to take such good care of you, margaritas, yum!

Just wanted to pass on my best wishes and prayers to you and your family while struggling with the loss of your mother as you knew her. My grandpa had dementia and it was a real struggle to watch him slowly deteriorating.

My cousin has recently moved in with her grandma to take care of her because she has alzheimer's and she is literally so exhausted they had to get 24 hour care to come in to help her out.

I have a second little very part time job (only about 6 hours a week) doing private care for a woman with alzheimer's. I used to have about 3 "clients" I worked with but am unfortunately only working with one person now. It is very exhausting and is even more difficult when they are family and you are deeply emotionally attached to the person.

There is often guilt by family members when they have a loved one that is ill or needs care and the family can't give them what they need. Anyway I just wanted to share with you that there are a lot of people who have been in you shoes so you are not alone out there.

There are a lot of agencies and support out there for you and your family. And there are specially trained people who can give your family the help they need, and you shouldn't feel guilty about getting that help.

It was a big struggle for my family to just "give in" and hire the caregiver for my grandpa but we knew that we needed that extra support, and we are very thankful that we did it. Good luck making this difficult decision.

I hope that didn't come off too preachy or anything. I am in no way an expert but I have been in more than a few nursing facilities so if you need any advice or have any questions feel free to pm me.
