The Disney email I received tells about how they are launching "Where Dreams Come True" starting in October. It links you to this website where you can download their new screensaver:

Can you see the screen saver before you download it? I have a small island in the ocean and a small sailboat as a desktop and then pictures of our latest cruise flash though for the screensaver part when the computer is hibernating. I don't know if I want to change it. Can you save the picture in a file and not use it as a screen saver?

Yes, I believe you can see it first. If not, you can always change it back to what you have.

Ok, the plumbers are gone and now it's clean up time......we had a slab leak, and opted to just replumb the place since it hasn't been done since the mid 80's (when the house was built). My husband just got out of the shower and apparently the water pressure is great now! We also got a $1000 discount from the home warranty, so it was much better than it could have been.

And to add my two cents to the "what are you wearing?" thread - I am bringing bathing suits, a few sport shorts/shirts for wandering around in (bring something you don't mind getting wet or sweaty) a few little swingy skirt/top combos, one nice dress (that I will wear twice, likely) and a pair of capris. I'm going to try to limit myself to two pairs of shoes, and one of flip flops. :lmao: Sure I can. Sure.

I know everyone says pack what you think you will need and then remove half of it, but I used EVERYTHING I brought last time. We would usually shower in the middle of the day and change into clean clothes, it was nice to have the option.

For DH I am bringing a suit, 1 dress shirt (to wear twice), 1 pair of nice slacks, a few shorts and collared shirts, and a t-shirt or two.

One thing I also learned from last year was BRING TWO BATHING SUITS EACH. Because they never dry in time, and there is nothing colder than a wet bathing siut against your skin. :sad2:

Glad to hear it wasn't absolutely horrible! Enjoy that water pressure, I hate a shower with no water pressure!!

To all of the ladies here:
I fully realize that I am still on the hook for "more" although the gift(previous post) was meant for both of us ( I actually listened to my wife one year when she said she did not want anything) :scared1:

If I can find a sitter, we are going to nice buffet in Atlantic City at the Tropicana, play some slots, and then have a few drinks at the beach bar...

You are so funny! I bet you and your wife will have a great time. I want one o those too just not the right time. I really want the one that's a camera and dvd recorder. The one I liked was $800.00 so that was out. I had been saving gift cards from Christmas and Birthdays so I used those for my camera.

This takes movies and still pictures to a DVD. It was only $288 at Overstock.com (no tax & free shipping). It does not have a lot of bells and whistles, but video looked great :)

What brand? I don't need lots of bells and whistles because I have no idea how to use them. :lmao:

I bought a Sony digital and it was on sale (big sale). Why I choose this one was that it was so small and compact, I could fit it in my pocket. Love that!

Mine was over $700!!! It's a Panasonic. I was looking at it again, it works great but every now and again I get these disc errors. It always happens at the WRONG time, when I am trying to record something important. I may call Panasonic later and speak to them about what could be causing the errors. The video camera and discs are ultra sensitive. Maybe I am doing something wrong, and it's not the camera at all.

Bill,

What brand is it? Was it new or refurbished?

It was a refurbished Hitachi DZ-MV730A. It has the same warranty as a new camera. I received something in the mail for 10% off and it came to $288.

The disk errors are common due to high volume production of the disks. Some camera's like some brands and not others..

My kids never went to bed until 10 or 11 anyway. Then they slept until 9 and we started our day then. During the school year they had to get up early so we let them run the summer on their own timeclocks which, I guess, coincided with Daylight Saving's Time. I never thought it was a problem. They were not outside whooping it up past 9 however.

On the news I heard that restaurants are staying open later and getting more business. Also that some companies that are located in other states appreciate knowing what time is really is in Indiana so they make their calls at the right time. We are hearing about new businesses opening here--I guess time will tell. For me it is not a problem, it's normal.
Jan :earsgirl:

There's alot about this state (IN) I still don't understand and the time zone thing is just one more thing. I'm not offended in the least, it will take a lot to offend me. I've got tough skin. However, any one talk bad about my kids I'll go through the roof!

Bill, is there a website for where you found your camera? I'm hoping to get some thing (been saying that for months). Glad you all are trying out your new gadgets BEFORE the cruise. I'll be the one freaking out b/c I could figure out the camera fast enough on ship. We're looking at a Canon some thing.

zweihund :woohoo: glad the insurance came in use.

I have a DVD Camcorder that I have had trouble with since I bought it. I get a lot of corrupt disc errors. At first I thought it was the discs but I am starting to think it's the camcorder. I really need to take it in and have it looked at. It's not old (but probably out of warranty with my luck) and it's barely used. The discs are costly, especially when you think they're corrupt and start a new one over and over. I have been using my digiital camera lately, it does sound and movies as well but I have this great camcorder, I really need to get it checked out. :sad2:
Thanks for the reminder!

As far as the disks go, most cameras use DVD-R and DVD-RW. The DVD-R are about .50 to 1.00 each depending on where you buy them( I purchased 50 for $28 on E-bay).They are cheaper, but you can only use them once and they do not allow you to take still photos.
The DVD-RW can be used many times (if you want to erase stuff) over and allows you to take still phot's as well as movies, but they are more expensive.

For me, I am using DVD-R for vacation. Movies are more important to me than stills. I also have a digital camera for stills should we want them ,but my wife usully takes the stills. For our trip this year (Land/Sea)We have 3 disposable cameras and each kid has their own disposable cameras as well as three underwater camera's..... so we should be covered.. :happytv:

Bill,
Thanks for all the info. I still have not done any shopping for the cruise so I don't know if it is in the budget but I will take a look. :thumbsup2

Thanks Bill!

Okay fellow DISer's, I need help! How do you post a picture from the internet? You obviously need something in front of the web address to make the picture appear.

Thanks!

News Alert:
If any of you are planning on going to the Atlantis Resort when we are in Nassau, Travelzoo has a special rate of $119. See this link: Atlantis Travelzoo Rate

My family would like to go to this resort for our excursion and do the pools and slides, but I can't decide if I want to book this rate or take my chances on a day room. We are a family of 5 so I would have to book 2 rooms and you can not get your money back if you cancel. :sad2: I've read on these boards that they allow 5 in a "day" room which costs $200, but I don't know if that is true or not. :confused3 Anyway, just thought I'd pass on the info.

Kerry, from the internet. Find the picture you want. Make sure the image is over 100X100 or it will be too small to see (unless you are going to use it for an avitar). After right clicking, go down to save picture as. Put the photo in the folder you want it it (or create a folder before dumping the picture). Then follow the directions below I've passed out through the years.

Posting: First find a photo hosting site. I like free so mine is photobucket.com. You can use Yahoo and even the DIS. From photobucket you have to register. Then, when you are ready to upload picture(s) click the browse button. It will pull up your computer directory. find the photo you want to upload and press the "submit" button. Your picture should appear on the bottom of the screen. What you'll want to do next is highlight the http:nsfndn.fldkfj[img] and copy that line. The n, go back to your post your working on and paste. You should only see the [img]asfd[img]. Once you submit your post, the picture should be visable.

Resizing your picture: If the image is TOO big, go back into your photohosting site and look for edit. If you edit in Photobucket, it will modify the picture size in your hard drive as well. So, if you don't want the original picture shrunk consider creating a duplicate pic in your hard drive and name it some thing different for your photohosting site. Give the DIS and your photohosting servers time to modifiy your images. If you modify too much you may end up with a speck of a dot for a photo. Trust me, I've done this too many times to myself. Be patient.
