Disney Wonder Sept 3-7,2006 Part 2

Down here they are TRIPLE that! Man. I need to move to WV.

Country Roaaaaaads Take me Hoooooome to the *cough*cough*cough*..

Sorry, I couldn't finish singing because this "country" home is full of chemicals. I live in death valley. :rotfl2: :headache:

It is pretty though..

Taeja- You live close-ish to the Indy area, right? (I think Jan does, too?)

Looking to go on a roadtrip with a friend and trying to think of a good place to go. Indy would be about 5 hours so not too far, but what are the cool things to do there? Any neat festivals worth checking out, etc? TIA!

..how is everyone else? You didn't really move to WV and let the chemicals get you!?

*ETA* Scratch the Indy idea, I'm going to throw the idea of driving to Charleston, WV and catching Amtrak to D.C. for some fun. Charleston is only about 45 minutes and it would be neat to go by train (only $270 for both of us which we'd spend on gas anyway!) into D.C. and since I've only been once to pick my brother up and didn't get to see ANYTHING (seriously, my parents took me to D.C. and didn't even show me ANY of the monuments or the White House, I got NOTHING.. isn't that a little strange? I mean, wouldn't most parents take the opportunity to at least go "This is our nation's capital!" Sorry. Tangent. I do that. Insomnia is back *sigh*)

Honestly, The Indy 500 and the Brickyard are Indy's biggest draws besides Cotls football or college basketball season. Maybe after 14 years I still haven't found other things to do, but I think D.C. would be a great choice.

We have a friend whose parents took him and his sisters to the Grand Canyon, said, there it is AND LEFT. Didn't stay or anything. Weird.

Its been a  week. I Hope to catch up on the thread soon. :hyper:

More than likely doing whatever it is that you do whenever you go back in with a college degree. It's not called reinlisting, because you're ranked higher. He is disabled but can still go back in he just looses the disability they gave him.

We talked last night about finishing school and deciding where we want to end up. Going there, letting me teach and drawing his disability long enough to earn some equity in a home that we could go back to upon his retirement from the military. I don't know what will happen, it's hard to say at this point. it just seems silly to me to jump through all these hoops for them through this disability hooplah, just to have him go back in and loose it and me not be able to teach because we'd have no idea where we will end up at. I guess if we got on a big base, I could teach on base but if he went back in as a Marine.. there aren't a lot of big bases. It just seems silly to go into debt for me to get a degree if he's going to go back in because then i can't use it.

He's not happy at all in a regular work world. He comes home and tells me these stories that have him SOOO upset and I'm like "that stuff happens everyday, Tom. welcome to civilian employment."
i don't think he can handle it. He gets irritated when his boss takes a half day off and I'm like "well he's the boss. he can do what he want" and he goes into "well in the military you can't do that, etc."
I have a feeling we'll be a military family.

...as for my retirement.. I just got bad news. Because I switched my major and took classes as they fit my schedule (thus, all were useful but together they = nothing.) if I don't pass my two summer courses (which will give me my AS in Business Admin. I'm not eligible for aid because I took too many credit hours that amounted to nothing by .09%.... It's a little ridiculous and petrifying but the next eight weeks will be full of me kicking these two classes butts!

Good luck with the classes and with the decisions on your future plans.

On the one hand we can make plans, but life happens.

On the other hand, when we make plans, we can make good use of them when life happens.

All this to say, if you can afford the classes and want a teaching degree, go for it. No education is wasted. If Tom wants to be a Marine, a happy Marine is better than a frustrated anything else.

You may get a job teaching at a school near a Marine base. You may get a job at a Marine base. You way substitute teach at public schools near a Marine base. You may homeschool your own kids. You may homeschool the kids of other Marines. You may teach college. Options abound.

Discuss options, pursue dreams and enjoy life as it comes.

Thanks!!!! The interview went ok! I will hear in 1-2 weeks. We have a meeting with our Human Resource people today! It has been a week since they announced this and NO ONE has a plan!!! I really wasnt impressed with their ER. Our is so much nicer! They are going to re do it so many it will look nicer!

What's the latest?

We were in an accident yesterday coming home from dinner. The car infront of us stopped. We stopped the guy behind us stopped the guy behind him was worried that the guy behind him would not stop and he hit the guy behind us and pushed him into us! Everyone was ok. Everyone except DH went to my work to get check-Tim had back and neck pain, I had neck pain, Amanda had shoulder pain and Ginger whined.

Dogs are crazy. Rink loves car rides, but he sleeps through them. He gets all excited when we open the back seat door, he hops up and then sleeps. :rotfl2: :confused3

I'd just like to say that this growing up stuff is stressful, time consuming business. We're still living in my grandmothers house (which has been offered to us to buy but it needs more work than we are handy enough to put in to it) and since they've been discussing selling it for awhile, we decided we'd rather move out when the time is right for us than be desperate because we've been evicted. It's hard commiting to a payment though!
Thus, we've begun looking at houses. I'm not sure if its the smartest decision but we figured with the market the way it is and the fact that we know we'll be around at least 2.5 more years for school and VA loans only require you to live in the house for 2 years... it would make more sense than renting. I guess.

Except I'd have to get a job, haha. We looked at a really cute house but someone signed on it today. :headache: I have a feeling that is how things go, though..

Tom has veto-ed this house, or considering it, due to a sloped yard and a *bad feeling in my belly when I think about mowing it*

I don't think thats a good enough reason! http://www.coldwellbanker.com/servl...lbankerDataProperty_id=13560404&page=property

:yay: Looks cute! ::yes:: You could always plant ivy or some flowers or shrubs on that slope!! ;)

Jan :earsgirl:

Growing up is kind of fun, though. You get all the control. It's scary sometimes, and when we bought our house (our first house, which we are in currently) I can't tell you how many times I wanted to say "forget it, let's just go back to renting" but man......nothing beats sitting in YOUR HOUSE. Until you have to replumb the whole thing

I think you guys are being very smart about everything, taking lots into consideration. I can't say we always planned that far in advance.

And you know, ANY time is doable for "starting over" - I had people in my Occupational Therapy course who were in their late 40's and in school for an entirely new career. You are never locked in.

And I tell people that when I grow up I want to work at WDW. Some say they did not know Disney hired PTs which ticks me off because that is not ALL there is to ME. I can do a lot of stuff. So I actually have a list of things I can do and if I get to do it, I will walk into Central Casting, hand them the list and ask where they want me to start and when. No problemo.

I plan to start over and I am 59 now.

.................maybe I will be a pin trader and walk around with a lanyard........
gotta go add a new skill to my list :lmao:

Sorry about the insomnia.

Why did they go to DC if not to see things?

If you change back to plan A I can get you some websites to check.

We are all ok!! Havent heard anything yet but they told the next person they interviewed it maybe a llow because both Hr departments were working on a plan. We have a meeting with our HR department to fill out questionaries and we are suppose to know definately by the end of Oct where we will be working next year but it sounds to me like we arent going to make it till next year!

Mercy hospital has 16 ER RN positions-which is about how many are at Southside now. Wouldnt it make sense to fill those psoitions with all of us! Which is what i said in our first HR meeting and I bet that is why we are having this meeting this week.

I have house centipedes. They're scary. :scared: :scared:

We found out where they are going to put all the head injury patients when that part of the unit gets remodeled.

WITH US!!!!!

The next few months are going to be very interesting, to say the least :lmao: :thumbsup2

OH wow. Have fun Erica.. :-/

We're having an irritating time trying to get a mortgage pre-approval. They transfer us to someone else who tells us we can't use educational benefits as income. We realize this, but his job is tax-free not an educational benefit. Oh well, let me transfer you here.. back to the same thing. They're telling us 8 different things, all very frustrating.

Good morning!! What a horrible weekend! I worked Fri SAt And Sun and we fought with the supervisor because we found out the floors are reading all our patients charts!!! Can you say HIPAA violation!!!!! The to top it off when we went after our MVA the med surg secretary read ALL of our CHARTS!!!!!!!!!! I am furious!!!!!! Sunday he came out to "smoke" while I was out there and my friend-our unit secretary immediately said Let's go back inside! She wouldnt let me say anything!

Oh Vicki! Good grief! Glad your friend saved you and pulled you back inside. Did the guy get reported? What happens now?

I'm trying to be good and not be on the DIS while school is in session. I better go before TJ wakes up, dishes are calling me.

I hope every one is well. Extra hug to Lisa. Have a great day all :grouphug: :cheer2:

Random.. but we're now actually planning the reception.

Would this (as a magnet) make a good party favor?

Anything you would change, etc?

Tom wanted poker chips made but this is cheaper and practical. I don't want to give someone something that they'll take home, throw in a box and throw away in 5 years because it's useless.
