Here's a trip report from our San Juan Island vacation!! Pictures are on my facebook page!
We left June 14 at 4:30 am Yuck!! Had to stop at
Walmart on the way to the airport-I forgot to put on deodorant! Got to the airport and met one of my co-workers who was leaving for Vegas! Both of us was scared our planes were going to crash! Both flight took off with out a hitch. When we got near Seattle we looked out the window and you could see Montains higher than the clouds! What an awesome site!! Landed in Seattle and had a wonderful experience(dripping with sarcasm) it was that time of the month and when I stood up in the plane-need I say more! So now I need off this plane!!!!
DH went looking for something to wrap around me and found a blanket so now we are running through the airport with me in a blanket! It is now 1pm Pacfic time and we still are not at our final destination!
We get the luggage and rental car and now have an 1 1/2 hour drive to the ferry. Saw the Spaceneedle. Ate dinner at the mall! And at 4:30 were at teh ferry! We arrived at 5:30 in Friday harbor! What a beautiful little fishing town! Went to our bed and breakfast! Cute little place then head for Lime Kiln PArk to fine whales! We didnt see any!
Monday we went on a whale watching tour-saw seals adn eagles No whales!
Tuesday get ready for kayaking! Met our guide Dan-very nice and cute. Kayaked 7 miles t our island-set up tents and Dan made dinner-spaghetti, salad and garli bread! Yum!!!
Wednesday-kayaked to Stuart island and took a 5 mile roud trip hike to turn point! Beautiful! Along the way they have treasure chests! Inside are t shirts hat and postcards you can take with you and pay when you get home! Now kayak back to the island !!! Total 7 miles kayaking! Today Dan made Banana walnut pancakes for breakfast and burritos for dinner. Both night we had a campfire and the sunset tonight was gorgous!!
Thursday time to head home-still NO WHALES! The winds pick up so the waves are 4 feet high!!! What a trip!!!! Now we go check in at the 2nd bed and breakfast- GET OUR FIRST SHOWER IN 3 DAYS!!!!!! Head to Lime kiln park NO WHALES!!!!
Friday go tot the whale museum and explore the island-still no whales.
Saturday we have to leave-flight leaves at 10pm. Get a call from Spencer-they spotted whales from land!!! Met him at Snug harbor and head out! We have to be back to get the 4:15 ferry.!!!!!! WE FINALLY See whales!!!! J pod with Ruffles and Granny leading!!!!!!!!!!! At one point they were a couple 100 yards away and you could hear them breathing!!!!!!! What an awesome sound and site!!!!!!
Friday harbor is so cute- I could live there!!!!!!!!! Great trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
