Disney Wonder Sept 3-7,2006 Part 2

Have you seen this yet? I got it off the latest Steelers thread on the CB.

Our Father,

Who Art in Pittsburgh,

Football Be Thy Game.

The Kingdom Come,

5 Super Bowls Won,

On Earth as it is in Heinz Field.

Give us this Day a playoff Victory,

And forgive us our penalties,

As we defeat those who play against us.

But lead us into a victory,

And deliver us to Tampa!

A-Ben

Go STEELERS!

Cool!

Oh.My.Crappy.Goodness.

My insurance is through the college- it's cheaper ($780/year) vs. the insurance through work so we opted to not pick up the work insurance and just rely on the school insurance (It's good coverage, too, so there was no need to have both) for the pregnancy (Tom= VA Coverage, so this is just for me.)

The college insurance requires you to attend one class worth 3 credit hours to remain eligible for coverage for the normal school year (Fall, Spring- don't have to attend summer courses). Basically, by "attend" they mean I can't take an E-Course and be eligible.

So this semester, with everything going on, I only enrolled in 6 hours (Enough to be eligible for financial aid) with 3-hours being an E-Course and 3-hours being a course at the college.

My college course was hard to fit into the work schedule, as classes are during the day-- but it was necessary. There are only 3 of us and two of us go to college out there so we worked together and the other girl at work worked around this class for me.

The college wants to CANCEL my class because enrollment is only 7 students.
So.. if this course gets cancelled, I lose my eligibility for health insurance AND financial aid (which isn't a huge deal, my scholarship will cover tuition for the other course but I'll lose the loan money Tom and I were counting on using for the additional pregnancy medical costs...)

..They're telling us this TWO DAYS before enrollment closes. BUT if I enroll in another class (assuming another one fits into the schedule like this one did and still has slots available) and then this class isn't cancelled, I'm enrolled in two classes in the same time frame and I'll be charged to drop one or the other.
This is ridiculous.

My professor had me (and every student in my class) write down that this time was the only time available for us to take the class, or if we could fit into one of the other times. Most of us couldn't fit in the other class times.
He had me write that I would lose my health insurance, that I am pregnant and that I would also lose my financial aid.

He assured me he'd go to the Dean and fight it, if he had to. It's not right to do this to students who registered in OCTOBER and give them no notice like this. He's pretty infuriated by it.

But I'm freaking out.

Ooo the same thing happened to a friend of mine at UMBC!! There were only so many people signed up for the class so they decided not to have it. And she said it was an honors class too and you need to have a certain amount of those or something?:confused3
Wow...cut throat out there, huh. My chancellor isn't cutting out classes she's just digging up our campus...:scared1:

Apparently the same professor is teaching the same course multiple times. He has two sessions that aren't "full" so the college is making him condense BECAUSE he's being paid extra to teach the "extra" class.
So basically they want to stop paying him extra when he doesn't technically have full classes. I guess I get that but it's still FRUSTRATING!

Patsy, I hope every thing works out for you, even if you have to take basket weaving. Yikes, how stressful. :headache:
