No, I noticed.. I just didn't want to point it out. Didn't feel it was my place.

I'm weird about names.
DH gets mad at me cause we'll be watching a movie and he'll go "Brad Pitt's character" and I'll be like "You mean Rusty?" :confused3

I am the owner of the webiste that posted Ben's story. Nearly a thousand people have read it since yesterday.

I have not run across such an inspiring Packer story in quite awhile.

Thanks Mom and Ben.

Well.
They make more boys. :rotfl:

(And girls!)

Currently Rink is running around the living room with a hanger in his mouth, growling.

It's no problem Jan...I am QUITE used to people calling me Holly. Keep in mind we went to the same elementary school and high school.;) :goodvibes
(We didn't go to the same middle school because a new one opened up the year after Holly went to middle school so the rest of us went there instead.)

No worries, Jan!:goodvibes

SCORE!

There is a local discount store here (It's kinda like a TJ Maxx- they get brand name stuff RANDOMLY, you just have to keep going and looking at it!)

So I took Tom by tonight becase they're having a MAJOR clearance on their baby stuff. THEY HAD BEDDING TONIGHT! (I was there on Wednesday and they didn't!)

Originally, I had picked out a neutral Winnie the Pooh theme. The more I thought about it, now that I know it's a boy.. I couldn't stick with Winnie the Pooh ($59.99). So I've been looking around online but nothing really jumped out at me for the $$. (There is so much more stuff out there for little girls than little boys!)

At first I saw this one:
0089778300101_500X500.jpg

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5672835
Which we sorta liked but the quality looked iffy and neither of us LOVED.
However, the price was $20. Which was tempting to me for something that doesn't really matter, kwim? So we picked it up and were carrying it around while we looked...

THEN I saw this one.
starship_pop.jpg

It was $29.99, but the quality looked MUCH better. I looked at Tom and he said "Get whichever you like"

Being the bargain girl that I am I kept going back and forth.
Finally I said, "I really like the spaceships."
He grinned grin huge and went "Good, so do I!"

So we got the spaceship bedding.. I came home, went to their website and it retails at $375!!! HOLY CRAP!

Here it is, all spread out!
BoyBeddingEdit.jpg

(Please pardon the mess, the kitty and the obvious wrinkled appearance!)

...I LOVE the little extra spaceship toy, too. Too cute!

The thing hanging at the end of the crib (top picture) has pockets- DEEP pockets, which will be perfect for stashing things. The bag on the chair (top picture) is big enough to fold up and put the quilt in to take somewhere else or even to transport toys!
I LOVE it. So much better than neutral Winnie the Pooh.

I also got a package of 5 Graco Bodysuits, a sweatsuit outfit, 2 extra crib sheets and a Clifford the Big Red Dog onsie...(with a tail on the back, ears on the matching hat and paws on the hands and feet!)

Grand total: $48!!!!

Patsy I still can't believe you're going to be taking care of a baby that is YOURS!!! I mean I take care of Kayla all the time but she's not MINE and I know at the end of the day I can give her back!:rotfl: I keep trying to picture myself in your position or other friends my age and it is just CRAZY!!! Oh my gosh...a having a baby is the ultimate grown up. YIKES! It was must be scary :scared1: and wonderful :goodvibes at the same time.:upsidedow

It's scary, but I don't really think my age is why I'm scared. I think lots of first-time mommies are scared!!
I don't know, I'm not normal for my age. Everyone tells me that. :rotfl:

I moved out and started fully supporting myself (car payments, car insurance, food, clothes, utilities, tuition, books, incidentals, etc) at 19.
I got married a month after I turned 21. I LOVE my husband, but it's not normal (at least not around here) to settle down with someone that young unless you have a reason (like you created a little one together, which I think is a crappy reason to get married!)
I'm going to have a baby 2 months after I turn 22.
I bought a house at 21.

I'm not normal. :rotfl2:

My mother told me I can slow down anytime now. :confused3

I guess I get why she says it but it sorta annoys me. I'm doing pretty dang good for myself at such a young age. I'm not on drugs, I have a GOOD job, I love my husband (and he loves me), I didn't have a baby out of wedlock (not that it's bad, but it's not what every mother dreams of, kwim?)

I don't know. I've just always been WAY different than all of my friends. I was the first to get a job... pretty much anything involving independence and responsibility, I was first. :scared:

Sometimes I feel like I missed out on a lot (like going away to school like you did, I would've loved that.. maybe?)
A girl at work turned 21 today (she's the only one younger than me) and I just thought about how different our lives are.
She parties. She actually requested to get off early because she needed to go get her ID redone so she could drink tonight..
I spent my 21st curled up with Tom Tom watching a movie.
Anyway- she just got me thinking. She's got so much freedom and we're now the same age (for 4 more months anyway) and her life is so totally different than mine.

Then I get home and Tom hugs me and tells me he loves me and I see Rink and stuff for the new house and clothes I bought for Lucas and I don't regret a thing.

It's hard/weird.

Well see I always planned everything off my mommy's timeline. She got married 4 days after turning 21...I always figured I'd get married at 21 or close after college. She had Holly 2 months before she turned 22...had Heather 2 months before she turned 23...Hayley a month before she turned 25 and me 5 before turning 27. So you can see why not even having a prospective boyfriend annoys me!:rotfl: Or should I say lack of ever having a boyfriend?:confused3 And everyone is always like well it just means you'll find Mr. Right on the first try and blah blah and while I appreciate their...support :confused3 ...it's just annoying to be the only one who's never actually HAD a someone at least once.

I'd love to say I go out and party but most nights I sit in my room doing nothing!:lmao: I'd call my good friend up but she's ALWAYS busy.:guilty: I mean as far as me it's everyone here is scrambling to pass and graduate, ya know. I love being at an away school but I can say it's not for everyone. So maybe you didn't miss out. (Well it's not that I love being AWAY I just love this place it is amazing!:goodvibes ) I'd also KILL to say I have a job to go into after graduating!:rotfl: I mean I know where I would LOVE to work but it's one of those things were you need experience first.:guilty: Stinks...I don't know where you get experience working with marine animals...maybe I can do something at the aquarium down here this semester? It's almost an hour away but at least it might count as experience?:confused3

(As far as the out of wedlock thing goes...it drives me NUTS! But I have to watch what I say around my sister because she is one of *those*. We were just brought up to wait til marriage for "extracurriculars". I know it's not everyone's thing to wait and it's a personal choice but it's crazy how many women are having kids before marriage.)

Phew, so I'm not a freak!

See... mom and dad got married at 24. My parents are sticklers on "by the book" you do it right, you pay your taxes, you go to sleep, you retire and thats it.
They had Greg at 27 and myself at 30.

I'm unfathomable to my mother. My father, however, is ecstatic to get to be a grandpa already. I think his mom dying alerted him to how having kids at 27/30 cut down on his grandpa years. I think me being pregnant actually helped him get through my grandmother's funeral.. he was telling EVERYONE! and pointing to my belly all the time.
My dad, however, has always believed in me more than my mom. He doesn't doubt that Tom and I will make it, doesn't doubt that I can handle a baby, doesn't doubt that I'll get my degree, manage our finances, etc. My mom however will tell me not to buy something because we need to save. :confused3
She'd be shocked to know we have saved and I CAN afford it and unlike most people my age I've never overdrawn my bank account. Not even on accident! :rotfl:

My job is pretty great but it's because I love the people, because I have incredible benefits for a part-timer, a secure position, etc. It's not what I LOVE doing but I consider it a great job. I mean, good grief-- they're paying me FULL PAY for 3 months to be out of work and "bond" with my baby. How amazing is that? :upsidedow
I know I'll get my degree eventually but right now I'm doing alright and getting all the other wonderful extras life has to offer. :p

Not to sound cliche, but you'll find him.
I met Tom less than two years ago. Seriously. If you want to get technical, it hasn't even been a year and a half.
In that time we've gotten married, bought a house, built a life together and I'm halfway done making us a son. ;)
It'll fly when you meet him and you won't notice the age thing so much anymore. You'll also probably be grateful to already have your degree. Neither of us do and it's stressful to put school with all the time we want to spend together, all the things we need to do and work. It makes it difficult!

And I know what you mean about the people having babies left and right out of wedlock. Not meaning to offend anyone who did but there are actually girls out there now that are like 16 and want a baby because they want the "unconditional love"... what?! It drives me nuts.
I have a friend who has a 1 year old. (Well, okay.. she's not a friend-- we went to high school together!) and she doesn't go to school, has NEVER had a job and I see her at the mall ALL THE TIME without her son. I asked her once and she said her MOM keeps the baby from Thursday-Monday.
She only actually has her son from Monday afternoon to Thursday morning...
WHY do parents do this? If she were working, going to school or SOMETHING I could understand... but just enabling your daughter to go to the mall and neglect her kid? WHY?! I just don't understand.
(BTW, this girl lives in a house her dad pays the rent and utilities on!)
I just don't get it.

Sorta drives me nuts with my sorta-SIL, too. They're not married, which.. whatever. It's their decision and I'm not going to judge them for it, to each their own.
BUT we know one of the biggest reasons they aren't getting married is because she gets WIC, Food Stamps, HUD and the medical card because she doesn't work and doesn't have to claim BIL's income, even though he takes care of her!

So her pregnancy will be 100% covered by my tax dollars while I struggle with having $100/paycheck deducted to go into a HealthCare Spending account so I can afford to have this baby.
How is that fair?? :sad2:

WOW :thumbsup2
Way to go!!

Patsy, it is not fair at all. My taxes pay for her baby too. I see kids having babies in my job all the time and Grandma's raising their grandchildren. :sad2:

A system that was "supposed" to help people has enabled them to take advantage of all the rest of us.

Bottom line--children do best when their parents are married and committed to each other and to the kids. You and Tom are giving Lucas the best gift possible by loving each other and being committed to making a healthy family. You go girl! :flower3:

I saw that thing on the news!!! About that one high school with the click of girls just getting knocked up to have the baby...and one even slept with a homeless man!!! I tell you...what is this world coming to?:confused3 It is so sad.:guilty: And WOW about that girl you know. At least the only girl I knew who got knocked up dropped out of high school...I'm assuming she's raising the kid but I guess you can't be too sure these days.

And really...that isn't fair at all. I can't believe she's cheating the government like that.:sad2: :confused3
But Patsy...just remember...you are going to be MUCH happier than her. You have a guy that loves you (not saying your bil doesn't love her but you know...you and Tom have made a commitment and he sounds very loving :goodvibes ) and will always be there to help raise the child you two made together.:goodvibes
