alright. seriously? when it rains it pours.
Monday night our basement flooded. somehow the water from the sink upstairs (and we were doing heavy duty dish cleansing) backed up into the sink downstairs and didn't drain, so it overflowed all over the floor and under the extra fridge.
Last night @ 1:30 am a huge exploding sound went off and we, petrified, tip toed through the house to find the culprit. upon getting to the kitchen we discovered a most horrendous smell and a SMOKE coming from inside the dishwasher.
the transformer, not even twenty feet from where we sleep, blew last night and severed power to half our house and fried our dishwasher and wireless router. after calling off work (and basically being told a fried transformer and lack of electricity in half the house was not a good enough reason to call off) we waited two hours on my uncle/land lord to come to try to reset the breaker.... and when he did he promptly told me that despite him and my father being co-owners of the house I am NOT to have animals and Rink and Reese have to go back to my parents house a half hour away.
oh, the transformer blow also fried the air conditioner and made something in the basement BEEP incessantly which my uncle couldn't hear so we have to wait for it to die or blow up the house

because we kept telling him we heard something and so he unplugged the cordless phone and goes "ah, no more beep."
uh, no. it's still there. I think he's going deaf.
oh, i also live in my grandparent's house. today is the three year anniversary of his death. in this house.
today i lost my air conditioner, my dishwasher, my wireless router....
and my PUPPY!
