Disney Wonder - October 14, 2012 - Hawaii

Husband can't get off the Friday before, so thinking flying in Frid night and staying @ Disney Fri/Sat on points (if they have anything available.. can't book till March)... but would be interesting to do an LA tour..

As for the shore excursions, was sorta waiting to see how the April people liked what was offered.. guess that cheating, but why not!!

Have we decided on doing anything like a champagne get together.. or something like that.. I would be interested in that.. not sure how to get it going though.. I know someone mentioned a palo.....get together.. we still considering this?

Have we figured out the shirts?::woohoo:

Sure someone has suggestions about the islands.. I know I want to do the helicopter tour on one of the islands (husband bucket list).. but not sure about the rest.. need to research.. but open to hearing what everyone else is doing..

me too..

I would be intersted in this tour. We are 2 adults.:goodvibes

I'll start a list

We would also be interested in this tour. It would be for two adults. :)

I like your idea of "cheating" had already started by pinching Corinna's website details :rotfl:

I'll start a list then when the April guys get back I'll ask if anyone used the company or enjoyed the tours. Then we can come up with a like to do list or what we don't mind missing off and see if the tour company can work something out for everyone that's interested. :thumbsup2

We'd be up for champagne girls too princess: it was great fun on the transatlantic.

We're thinking about the Fe's too so have started to research gifts, are we going to have one big group?

We also want to put our names down for the Candy swap please :woohoo:

First snow of the winter here yesterday, it stuck too  not good for driving :car:had to stay at my aunties last night but every cloud has a silver lining :drinking1:drinking1:drinking1

Really hope I'll be able to get to work tomorrow :rotfl:

Hey, gang! Saw the first page post about the Facebook page but couldn't "join" on Facebook. Clicked on the "Ask to Join" button but my click didn't seem to work.

Can I join y'all there, too?

Michael

Michael my request to join went through, so I'll let you know if it works! Welcome back hope you and Marc had a great time :flower3:

For everyone else I don't use facebook, but sign in as my sister Clare Roberts, so the request has come from her and not me Sarah, though it will be me checking in :rolleyes1 - its a work related thing :confused3

Thanks, Sarah! Cabo is ALWAYS a great time! Saw the Wonder 3 times during our stay there and the weather was perfect! Starting to get psyched about the Fantasy MV and then it's on to Hawaii (with a Panama Canal cruise shortly after that....). Who said retirement was boring????

For Fish Extender List Keeper:
Wanted to send you an update for the exchange list. I'm interested in: Lanyards, Palo Tea, Brunch, and Dinner. Our Main Dining is Late. I'm also interested in shirts but may need fabric since we would need child's small and adult 4x and I don't know if either of those will be available. Thanks! Steph (Stepherific)

Wow Master.. Gee, how did achieve that rank... :)

Anyway, just looked at the list and you are all listed as Adults.

So, I am not seeing where you are kids (unless you count that we all act like kids on the boat.. :rotfl: ).

Aloha! I am on the April Hawaii cruise and coordinating our shirts. I received the fabric last week and overall I am pleased with it. I sent a PM to your coordinator (hope I sent it to the right person) with a few recommendations. Figured you might as well take advantage of what I've learned through this process. The material has a lovely silky feel and is not light weight or cheap feeling. The colors are sharp and beautiful. The three images in the lei's are not as crisp as I had hoped and I would be happy to work with someone if you want to either change them for something with more resolution or work on getting them a better saturation. You (your coordinator) would then need to work with the manufacturer to get my original art work updated when/if you have them change the text in the border. That is not to say they don't look good as they are, just could be better.

You should know, if you are interested in purchasing material, that the border is not along the edge but runs horizontal, with the repeat every 39inches. I was really surprised at this and hadn't though to ask, just assumed it would run along one edge. Also, the usable printed area is 46 inches not 56. Both these issues are not deal stoppers but good to know as you plan. The border is about 5 inches high and the largest leis about 3x5 for those who might be considering making shirts for kids or teddy bears.

If you wanted to have tees made to wear under the shirts, I have all the individual images on the fabric on flicker. I used them to order tees from vista prints and they came out ok.

I was especially pleased with our choice to go with the shirts when I saw DCL is offerring the Hawaii tee shirts for more money then we will be paying for cruise specific shirts.

Here is a picture of the material that one of our group posted after getting the package. valbob89

How much of a selvage edge is then on the fabric if the "border" runs horizontally? As you said not a deal breaker by any means- I think the fabric looks terrific, I'm just kind of curious? I may make myself a memory quilt with some of the fabric

I was looking at the shirts...sorry:confused:

I copied your self proclaimed title...I thought!;)

Maybe I should take up coffess to get those neuron firing. :thumbsup2

Thanks for checking :worship:

I may not have been clear about the fabric layout.

If you look at the picture above you see white material on each side of the printed fabric. There is 2 inches of white then the print starts and runs for 46.5 inches then there is 13.5 inches of solid white. So the material is 62 inches wide but only 46.5 inches of it is printed on.

When I referred to the border I was not talking about the edge but the line of flowers below and above the 2 lines of text that say DCL INAUGURAL HAWAII SAILING and WONDER APRIL 29 - MAY 14, 2012. It is about 5 inches high then the pattern is 34 inches making the repeat, border print to border print, every 39 inches.

Lesson learned for me, don't order the material by the yard but by the repeat.

Maybe this will help. As explained by my wife who does quilting and purchases "lots" of fabric.

They print the fabric in "panels" where each panel had enough material for one shirt (sized from xtra-small to XXL) which is why all shirts are the same price as they all use the same amount of material.

When we order our shirts and fabric I will request from Becky that our fabric order is in panels not yards. I need to call Becky and check if they can extend the panel from selvedge to selvedge but kinda doubt it as they are a shirt company and not a fabric company.

Remember, we need 50 shirts per color in order to have access to the fabric and 10 shirts per size. Since most Hawiian type shirts are meant as a kinda like a very light jacket, ordering a size larger than usual might not hurt if that gets us past the minimum number per size.
