I saw on your ticker that your family is going to DLR!!! We are locals and we are doing a staycation the week of July 6-11. We are staying on property for the first time & will be staying at VGC. Hope you have a blast!![]()
It will be her 21st birthday a few days before so she has an idea we may do something. My other DD will be 10 at the time of this cruise. She loved the last two, especially the kids club. k
First post and hope I'm doing this right...
It will be my DDs 21st birthday a few days before so she has an idea we may do something.
This will be our third cruise. First was the Magic in 2011 (western Caribbean). Second was Fantasy Eastern Caribbean in 2012. Both were great.
As live in Vancouver getting to San Diego will be so much easier so that played huge factor in decision to take this cruise.
My other DD will be 10 at the time of this cruise. She loved the last two, especially the kids club.

I don't think I've ever met anyone else who didn't like coffee... most folks think i'm an alien
What do you drink instead? My go to three are Iced Sweet Tea, Dr. Pepper and Ice Water with lemon

This is our 12th cruise and 7th on the Wonder! It is my favorite ship! But I am biased!
So then, this got me thinking. I've tried to check the prices on DCL's website for the same category and it only offers the GTY rate? Does this mean that DCL reserves a certain number of cabins for outside travel agencies? What does everyone know about this?
Not cruise related but I have a questionWe are taking all our kids down to Disneyland June 26th - July 1st. We are doing Disney for 4 days.. and they want to do Universal Studios for the 5th day.. Has anyone ever gone? If so what is there to do? Did you enjoy it? Do you ride that tram/bus thing all day, or how does that work? Any thoughts or opinions would be great

According to my travel agent it isn't what DCL does. The TA's have to call the same DCL customer service line like everyone else does. The only difference is if a big company like say...Costco buys a block of cabins on opening day and then "re-sells" them through their website. As of right now our sail date is 75% sold out... All quad cabins are sold out.. and on this one site you can see all the price increases from opening minute to now.. and a cat 9B for instance.. Started out at $780 per person and is now $1380That is a jump of over $600 per PERSON.. Yikes!!! And there are 10 categories that are fully sold out. Whats even crazier is we paid $640 per person for Cat 9A.... before the cat was totally sold out they were selling them for $1250 per person. We would not be able to take the 6 of us if we wouldn't have booked opening day. It makes me sad
to think of all the folks who didn't book on day or or even two and now can't go at all.

My daughter and I are also booked on the 2 nighter after this on. We aren't sure we'll be keeping it, but for now we will. The prices increased so fast.... Hoping Disney sees that CA is in demand and they bring the Wonder to the West Coast for good. Thanks for the info! I think it's so crazy how fast the prices have gone up. This has been so fascinating to me! We also booked the 2 nighter after this cruise to make it a 7 night cruise, but it's so expensive. For now we are keeping the 2 night but may cancel later.

I am new to all of this, but how do you know when opening day occurs? Also, you mention a website showing how full the cruise is booked. How do you find this info? Thanks!
If I remember correctly, your children are older so I think they'll like it. Your family could easily spend the whole day there. After the park you could go Universal Citywalk. Check both online, look at the attractions & rides, look at Citywalk, and check w/the family if all of it looks like fun for them.
It is quite a drive away from disneyland though (you'd have to also factor traffic cuz you'd be coming during the week).
Yes our 4 kids that are still at home... are twin 13 year old boys and 15 and 17 year old girls. When I go online I only see 5 rides does that sound right? So is the park more walking/looking type of thing? What is citywalk? And how far is the drive? We could do Universal on either Sunday June 29th or Monday June 30... Wondering which day would be better?![]()
