Well crap! I have Palo reserved for night 3!

I know! Isn't that annoying? I just can't figure out WHY they would change our formal night from night 2 to night 3!!! All they did for our itinerary was change from Mazatlan to Cabo on the exact same day...why the need to change formal night? Ugh!! :sad2:

It is annoying. I was really only concerned about formal night because I wanted some nice pictures with my family. But, we can do that on semi formal night. On the bright side, that's one less day my DH and I have to dress up :goodvibes

Me too ... I even got my DS (6) a new blazer to wear for formal night ... maybe do the photo (xmas card material) & run off to Palo's? Any advice from past cruisers since this is our first cruise? DCL person on the phone told me Palo's is overrated & to skip it?

I picked 11:30 to 12 too. I don't like getting there too early before the stateroom is ready. But, I can see why people like to get there early. They want to try and upgrade their stateroom.

Are the food areas even open that early? Then I wonder what if it's too cold to swim. What is my DD going to do.

For first timers, you do not have to check your kids into the youth program before boarding the ship. You can do it on the ship.

Thanks. Any advice is appreciated for us newbies. I hope they are flexible on port check in times - I could only pull the 3pm time - not sure why. My son will not go for waiting outside a port unless they have food or trinket shops to fill the time. I'm wondering if it's because of our flight time and having no cruise status? No meet and greet for us.

My Palo reservation is on semi-formal night. This is our first cruise. Is that an okay night to miss or are we going to miss something really special?

Semi-Formal night is the Captain's Gala night. It's the only night they serve lobster on the ship (if you are interested in that). But menus may have changed since the ship moved to California, but looking at the nights on the navigators it looks like they are the same.

OK, so I am going to ask some super "newbie" questions. I have not been on the thread in awhile..much going on. So, as a first-time cruiser...we do not have our state room yet, and I don't have any information that has been listed on this thread (formal/semi-formal nights, check-ins, etc.) Can someone give me the 3rd grade version of what I need to do, where I need to check etc to get our affairs in order?

I have gone to disney every year of my life, and consider myself an expert on everything Disney..however..since this is our first cruise, I find myself kinda like...:confused3 Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!!!

It's getting close now!!

Lionqueen, have you signed on to disneycruise.com and looked at your reservation lately. That is where you would see if they have assigned your stateroom number and it is also where you need to do your online check-in.

Yes, what she said ;). Log onto disneycruise.com and click on "My Reservation" under the planning tab. You'll need to enter your ressie # and birthdate. The next screen will show your room number (if it's been assigned yet). To the left, click on "online check-in" and this is where you can pick the time you'd like to check into port and print your signature documents for check-in.

As for the dining nights, I just emailed Disney to ask because I knew a lot of things were getting switched around.

Hope this helps.

based on some research on the regular cruise forum, I don't think you're missing anything but Lobster. I think they have lobster at Palo :confused3
I don't know.

I can't eat Lobster because I am allergic, so it doesn't matter to me. I was just concerned about pictures. I could dress up DD just to get some pictures on formal night. But, if they are doing it on semi formal night, it's all good.

I don't think Palo is overrated. In any event it's way better than the dining room food. I'm not that impressed by the chocolate souffle at Palo although everyone raves about it.

Just heard our DCL flight gets into LAX at 9:12 am. Looks like we're going to be at port early whether we like it or not...

I don't think this has been posted on our thread yet, but I just got an email from Disney regarding dining nights.

It looks like our Formal night is night 3 (instead of 2), Pirate night is 4 (Puerto Vallarta) and Semi-Formal is still night 6.

Thanks for the update MamaKate!

EEEKkk!! we have a group of eight. some of them are still waiting on there passports. So we can"t check in completely to get a check-in time at the port. what happens if we dont get one till after 3. The meet and greet for the kids is at what time 2.

I read that you can check in now saying you are going to use birth certificates and bringing your passport to the port is fine.

Does anyone know if you can pay cash when you order a drink or do they automaticaly bill your room. I have older kids that i really dont want to have there drinks bill to me. lol

Drinks from deck 9 soft drink station are free. You can limit the amount kids can charge to their KTTW cards, or stop them from charging anything if you don't trust that they will use discretion. When you complete your check in you can authorize or not authorize charging to each person's KTTW card.

Thanks for the scoop! Seems like a fine night for Palo.
