Disney Wonder March 20th 2011 sailing

I'd like to get everyone's opinion on something. So I have Palo booked for brunch and dinner. I'm traveling solo with my 3 kids. Do you think I will look or feel awkward dining by myself at dinner?

I'm fine with eating by myself at brunch since it's a more casual setting and I was just going to enjoy my alone time and maybe bring a book to read. But dinner is a more formal affair and just sitting there eating alone doesn't sound like it could be fun (but I could be wrong???).

So do you think I should cancel my dinner ressie? The only reason I really want to try dinner is for the desserts. I can live without everything else.

When do you have your brunch reservation? If it is the same time/day as us we'd love to have you join us if you want to. I just read a great trip report where some other people did the same thing--met up with people they met on the Dis Boards to eat together.

We didnt' book a dinner because we dont' want to miss anything in the dining room for our first cruise.

No! don't cancel. Bring something to read. Palo is yummy in the tummy.

And, you never know. After our meet the first day maybe you will make a good friend to eat with. I'm wondering if there is anyone else on our meet who is traveling with just kids.

I was thinking of a book at dinner too, but the lighting is the best for reading :sad2:. I think I'll keep the ressie for now and see if I meet up with any other singles that would like to join me. If not, maybe I'll just go for appetizers and dessert.

How sweet of you to offer . My ressie is on day 3 (3/22) @ 10:30am. But if you happen to have the same day/time, I think I'd feel bad intruding on you and your hubby.

Well, our reservation is the same day, but for 11. You can think about it...no pressure! ;)

We have been playing around with what to do during our first day in Cabo (the new day). I found some great reviews of www.cabosails.com online. It appears that it's a pretty amazing snorkeling/sightseeing/whale watching sail for all ages.

It is a private charter for 2-14 guests, which is why I'm mentioning it here. We have a family of four, and would be interested in gathering some more people if possible to decrease the cost. I haven't e-mailed for a price because I am not sure how many we'll have, but it appears that the smaller boat is $350 for the 3 hours and the larger boat is $750.

Includes food, drinks, and snorkel gear.

Send me a private message if you're interested in getting a group together to do this. The times are either 12 or 1:15, like I said it's 3 hours, and it would be for our first Cabo day when we're there 11:15-7

I'm totally interested :thumbsup2. I'll send you a PM when I get home from my sons football banquet (I'm on the way out the door).

Do you happen to know how many people the small & large boats hold?

I just checked our port times. It looks like they finally updated mine:
PV- 7:30 to 7
Cabo - 11:15 to 7
Cabo - 7:15 to 1:30

I'm a little teensy weensy mad that they shorted our cabo day on Friday.
We might just take a taxi to Baja Cantina and get brunch that day.

I have no idea, and I'm not even totally sure about the prices. I sent an inquiry through so I should hear back within 24 hours and I can share the info. If we have more people interested than can fit on one boat, we can definitely request quotes for more!

Chiming in on the patch - no issues at all, loved it. I get very motion sick - take Bonine for the plane.

Hi Lissame, I just PM'd you, let me know if you don't get it. That sounds like fun!

I am just curious, I know we'll be at the tail end of whale watching season, have any of you been to Cabo that time of year? Will we still see whales?

Are any of you still keeping this a secret from your kiddos?

If so, when and how do you plan to tell them?

I can't decide if we :

a) wait and tell them the weekend before, as they will probably see us packing.

b) tell them the morning we leave.

c) not tell them til we get to port and see the ship.

We are combining a first time DL trip too, so they could be told about that first, and then hold on to surprise #2 until we get to port?

Can you tell that I am excited? I can't wait until we get to read those first trip reports... :cool1:

We are still holding out on the surprise for our kids. We too are going to go to DL before the cruise. I think we have decided that we are going to first surprise them with DL. We will be picking them up from school and heading to the airport and will surprise them then. Then after our time in DL they will think we are heading back to the airport to go home, but then they will get the second surprise of the cruise.

I still haven't figured out how I am going to do all of the packing without them knowing about it though. I really hope it all goes well. It is so hard to not talk about things with them esspecially as it gets closer now. I hope the surprise is worth it. I do plan on letting them help with the FE, since we have never been on a Disney cruise, they have no idea what FE is, so I told them we were doing a disney exchange at my office :rolleyes1. So at least they wont miss out on preparing for that.

Alacazam- That's a great idea! I think that's a good plan, they will be thrilled with just the trip to DL. It's probably good to let them really enjoy just the DL experience first and not worry about the next adventure, until we get there... :)

I have sent a group PM out to everyone who contacted me about the Cabosails excursion. Please let me know if you didn't get it.

We just went last week on the Wonder during the PC cruise...I have never been during March but the company we used for our whale watching was wonderful! It was $30 each and included beverages.

It was 2 hours and they search until they found some whales - we also saw marlin, rays and turtles.

I was going to check into doing it again while we were there - not sure if anyone is interested in joing in. I will post what I find out.

We are keeping it a secret from the kids until we get to the port. Our plan is to have the kids stay over the night before at my parents' house...so we can pack. I'm not even going to put our dcl luggage tags on until we get there! They will see we are going somewhere- they will suspect LAX but when we pass it then they'll be stumped!

Hoping we don't blow it! :rolleyes1

Today one of my students told me she is going on the Disney Ship the same week I am. Initially her mom had booked the week after, since this sailing was full, and they were just planning on missing a week of school. She planned to try and switch as it got closer- guess she did! But I had to tell my student PLEASE don't say anything to anyone since I don't want it to get back to my DS on the playground! :scared1:

How exciting to those of you who are surprising with the cruise AND Disneyland! How do you plan to tell them?

Christine

Hello all,

This is my first post, so I hope it goes well.

Lissame...

My family and I would be interested in joining your group for whale watching. 2 adults and 2 kids ages 5 and 3.

I have not told my kids about this trip at all, it is going to be a huge surprise. First Disneyland, then the cruise. I get on here to read most days, but since this is our first cruise, I have not felt the need to post anything yet. Okay, honestly it is harder than anything for me to come up with a username that doesn't give away too much info, so it is easier to just follow along and not participate. In this case, I would love for my kids to see a whale, so I had to join and come up with something. (We have elk in our yard this morning) Let me know if you need any other information.

Thanks

Ethanash1, MamaKate, and PNWPrincess, please check your PMs, I just posted an update this morning. I need to know asap who is still in and who isn't, the price has changed since my first PM.

Elkwatcher--I just had someone back out, so I sent you a PM with the details. I included my e-mail address since I don't think you can PM yet. Look at the top of the page for access to the PM.

PM me. It's from HoJo Anaheim to Port on March 20th, then from Port to LAX on March 27th. This is for private van. We can hold 5 more people.

Hi all,

Is anyone staying at the Doubletree San Pedro on March 19? I have 2 rooms booked there under the Magical Cruise package, which includes a shuttle to the port in the morning.....

I was wondering if anyone on here would be sharing that shuttle with us??:thumbsup2
