Disney Wonder March 20th 2011 sailing

Haha!:rotfl2: I tend to believe the first ones that get upgraded are special occasions. I've read this on the boards as well.... Since we always vacation at the same time, we are always celebrating our Anniversary, DH Birthday AND DS Birthday.... Maybe we'll get upgraded again?!:worship:

I won't hold my breath though...

Hmmm...5 cruises and the only upgrade we ever got was when we booked a cat 12 gty room. I figured our odds were pretty good since there were a lot of folks on the meets thread also had booked a cat 12. We ended up with a cat 9. We were celebrating my DH's birthday although I dont think we had noted that anywhere. Maybe they figured it out since his official birthday was our Castaway Cay day!

I've had good luck upgrading at the port, though. I'm not sure how that would work at the port of LA? Speaking of that, has anyone seen pictures of this port set up? I wonder about how it is set up inside. Our only non-DCL cruise it was like a warehouse with folding chairs. :rolleyes1

I wish. I'm hoping they made a mistake and upgrade us to verandah:cool1::lmao:...but i think i like where we at, we have inside stateroom....but i'm still wishing for Verandah.:rotfl:

Does any of your kids had sea sick. My 7yrs old get car sick so i'm hoping she won't have sea sick...wish me luck on that.:wizard:

My 5 year old gets car sick, but NOT sea sick, so maybe you'll be OK... sending you some Pixie Dust...:wizard:

My husband gets carsick and seasick. Oh and don't forget airsick. He always goes to the dr before a cruise or flight and gets the seasickness patch. Talk to your daughter's dr and see what they recommend. I would definately have something with you in case she gets sick.

I agree. I took my Mom on her first cruise last year and she got her Dr to prescribe her the patch just in case...

My Disney reservation is finally updated, here it is. Is this right? I thought we are going to CSL then to PV then back to CSL.

Well, definitely give us an update if you can get an answer.

About the seasickness--my husband gets very motion sick--he can't even watch the Teacup ride at Disneyland much less ride it, even rides like Star Tours are too much for him.

On our previous cruise, he was nauseated a lot in the evening, a lot of it had to do with the fact that we had late dining and he ended up going to bed on a full stomach. He never got really sick (except when we rode on a zodiac boat in Cabo), just didn't feel great the whole time. Having a verandah cabin really helped because feeling closed in and not being able to see the horizon made it so much worse.

That said, this time we have early dining, and he's going to try using Bonine.

I have to agree that the seasick patch from the doctor does wonders. My mom is motion sick. For years, we put up with her making us pull over on car rides and her insistance on riding in the front seat. Finally, the doctor gave her the patch and she was a whole new person. She and my dad are even going on a cruise next year!!!!!! Something she would have never considered doing.

I always use the patch now and it does wonders for me. For some reason though, it won't stay stuck on my sister? We are trying to figure out something for her to do because they keep coming off her. :confused3

That's weird. My dh never has a problem. In fact, sometimes they are tricky to get off.

clean the area with alcohol to get rid of oil from the skin.Make sure there is no hair in the way. one strand of hair is enough to make it unstick because it will pull on the patch. clean the area with alcohol to get rid of oil from the skin. Try that.

Thanks for the info everyone, I'm calling my DH Dr.tomm just to make sure. I get car sick too but i don't get sea sick so I'm hoping she's the same thing but I will call her Dr. anyway just be sure.

I'm scared because both my mom & I get EXTREMELY seasick. I asked my parents to go on this cruise with us, but I think my mom is dreading it because of her seasickness.

On my last Disney Cruise I spent most of the cruise sick in bed so I missed shows, meals, etc. I think I took Bonine or Dramamine, but it left me so sleepy. That was 9 years ago. Now we have kids and I want this cruise to be a wonderful experience so I'm looking into the best seasick meds, but I don't know what to take.

I did some research on the patch, but what I read really scared me. Some people said that they had hallucinations while wearing the patch. Others said they got so dizzy with the patch that it made their cruise experience so much worse. And then others said that the withdrawl symptoms from the patch were worse than the actual seasickness. I'm very sensitive to many medications, so I really don't know what to do. I can't even take anything with codeine because it makes me so nauseous.

My mom said that she took a shot when she went on an Alaskan cruise that really helped, but she doesn't remember what it was.

What do I do???? Plus I'm hoping & praying that my daughters don't take after me & my mom when it comes to seasickness....

Hallucinations huh? No wonder why my mom was so happy after she used them.:lmao: anyway, it's better to try then and see. If it doesn't work, then dramamine will do it too.

For those who plan to attend can you let me know your name and username, number of people attending, and the ages and whether they are boys or girs I know it seems like you have done this several times already. I wanted to get an estimate of who will be attending because I would like to do something for the kids, maybe the adults.

Just PM me and I'll collect the data.

Lydia

Hahahaha!

I actually just read that if you cut the patches in half, or even quarters, they still work, but won't have the same side effects as wearing the whole patch. Maybe I'll try that...

Those meds make me very sleepy too. Even the non-drowsy. lol! So this is what I after my first cruise where I got terribly seasick the first day and before I started using the patches:

We always fly out the day before, so the night before our flight, I took a Bonine (24 hour one) before bed. Next night in the hotel, I took another one before bed. Then every night on the cruise I took one before bed and wore the SeaBands. I never got more than just a hint of nausea. Nothing that bothered me enough to keep me from enjoying things.

I started using the patches because then I just didn't have to worry at all.

After reading everyone's worries on Sea Sickness I can say I'm happy that none of my family gets seasick YAY!!! Well I'm not sure about the little one yet since she hasn't been on a cruise yet. But I'll pack some ginger cookies for her just in case.

Lydia~ I'll be PM'ing you in a minute with my families information :thumbsup2.

I'd like to get everyone's opinion on something. So I have Palo booked for brunch and dinner. I'm traveling solo with my 3 kids. Do you think I will look or feel awkward dining by myself at dinner?

I'm fine with eating by myself at brunch since it's a more casual setting and I was just going to enjoy my alone time and maybe bring a book to read. But dinner is a more formal affair and just sitting there eating alone doesn't sound like it could be fun (but I could be wrong???).

So do you think I should cancel my dinner ressie? The only reason I really want to try dinner is for the desserts. I can live without everything else.

No! don't cancel. Bring something to read. Palo is yummy in the tummy.

And, you never know. After our meet the first day maybe you will make a good friend to eat with. I'm wondering if there is anyone else on our meet who is traveling with just kids.
