We just went on our first cruise ever with Disney (May 26 in the Mediterranean) and absolutely loved it! Booked this one when we saw KSF. We have DD who will be 12 and DD who will be 10 1/2 at time of the cruise.
Can't wait for this cruise.

What a nutty weekend it has been! I have spent the last two days cutting up a 12 year old pear tree that blew down in the storm Friday morning. I will tell you that thinking about the cruise is what got me through the work so far.

Anyway, toescat, Thanks for the sombrero Mickey! I will be working on the logo this week (when kids aren't downstairs being nosey that is). I've almost been busted twice by my son, so I have to be more careful!

Looks like we are going to have a great group and who knows how big it will be in 9 months! 9 MONTHS , I don't think I can wait that long!

With all the crazy weather the mid west has had this past week you are lucky that it was just a pear tree. Before moving to California I was from Minnesota and went to college in Des Moines Iowa so I a very familiar with your weather.

I can't wait for this cruise either, but for you keeping it a secret, adds another element of excitement. I couldn't do it. I had a hard enough time not telling my husband that I had booked a suite on our last cruise. I am just glad he doesn't listen when I talk

Welcome aboard Colmom, how long was your Med cruise and what were your ports that you stopped at.

Hi and thanks for the welcome!
We were on the 10-day Med cruise which is very port intensive (only 2 sea days).
We started in Barcelona and went to Malta, Tunisia, Naples, Civitavecchia/Rome, La Spezia, Corsica and Villefranche. I don't have a trip report on here, but can tell you that we did 5 DCL excursions (Malta, Tunis- Carthage and Sidi bou Said, Naples- Sorrento and Pompeii, Civitavecchia/Rome- Vatican City and Colosseum, La Spezia- Pisa). We did Corsica on our own (just went to beach) and Villefranche on our own (easy to catch train to Monaco/Monte Carlo). We went to Barcelona for 3 days ahead of cruise, which helped us adjust to the time difference.
This was our first cruise ever and it was an exceptional experience. We also got lucky and had KidsForFree on our cruise PLUS we were upgraded from Cat 9 to Cat 6!!!!
If you have any questions, I can try to answer them. I may do a trip report eventually.

We were on the Magic and the weather was great. It was in low 70s and sunny. We had a passing shower in Tunisia and our first sea day was cloudy with a little rain, but gorgeous weather otherwise!
We are hooked on cruising now! We are actually looking forward to more time on the ship on the Mex. Riv. cruise. We didn't have much "ship" time in the Med!

I'm trying to decide whether or not to try to keep this a secret from my daughter. Her birthday is during the cruise, so I would be trying to keep it a secret pretty much until we leave. I like the idea of the surprise, but on the otherhand I enjoy planning vacations and the anticipation so much, I'm torn whether I would be taking the fun of that anticipation away from her. So I don't know, right now she doesn't know...

Yes, we are lucky it was just the tree and that it fell into the yard, not into the fence causing more damage. Trying to find a way to get rid of the darn thing now.

alacazam, we can do our secret planning together. My poor husband has to hear me talk about it non-stop though. Poor guy! I think this may be the longest 9 months of his life. Of course he was interested in my fe gift experiments last night, so maybe he'll get into the spirt of things.

That's a long time to keep the secret! I only have to keep the secret until Christmas and then the kids will have 3 months to help plan and get excited about the cruise. I don't know if I could keep the secret all the way until we leave! How old is your DD?

My daughter is 6, she'll be turing 7 on the cruise. We have only been on one 3 night cruise last October just to test out cruising, it was on Carnival. We were docked next to the Disney ship, so she is aware that Disney cruises exist...

If I do keep it a secret, it would be very hard on me. When we have a trip planned I'm constantly researching and am then anxious to tell my husband about the things I read. To try to find time to talk when the kids aren't around is harder and harder. I love all of the different ideas everyone has on how to present it to the kids.

Keeping secrets is tough, expecially when you are so excited about the surprise. Our Amanda told me she wished she didn't know so eary but is also glad because she can make scrapbooks and dicuss what she wants to wear with friend and cousin who are also going on the cruise. I am designing gowns for Rena and Amanda for the formal night so both girls are really excited about that. Since I used to sew costumes for skating I have lots of crystals and sequins left over to use. I just have to figure out the best date to start as I do not want to put all the hours in and then the two of them go on a growing spurt.

I might have missed this, and if I did I apologize, but does anyone know when we will at least be able to see what excursions Disney will have available for the MR?
