Disney Wonder Jan 23, 2011

To Airtime247/Steve: I also love roller coasters but haven't had the opportunity yet to travel around the country putting notches in my belt. My favorite is an oldie but a goodie... The Big Dipper in Santa Cruz, CA. One of the best things ever was when my employer rented the whole Boardwalk for a day and I was able to ride on it over... and over... and over... without even waiting in line! Love that shakey swayin' wooden structure! The Aerosmith ride is my favorite "new" coaster.:worship:

How about a checkout system for your lava lamps? That way we could all borrow them and reduce the clutter in your stateroom!

Cheers,
Cheryl

Excellent! I sent you Ashlie's email address for Alex. If any other tweens want to correspond, feel free let me know and we'll set it up.

Interested to find out if anyone else is going to be on both the January 21 two day cruise and this one?

Hey everyone!

We are getting very excited - - started packing last night. Even though we are not participating in FE's, I wanted to let anyone interested know that we are in cabin 2078.

If any tween girls are interested in a friend, Ashlie (11) would love to have someone to hang out with in the Edge (so excited that it's open!)

Counting down . . .

Darrcie

Darrcie, I have four daughters ages, 13, 10, 10, and 8. I've sent you a PM with my daughers' emails. :)

steve and dave, I definitely got to hang out with the two of you (and your wives must be saints!!). you two and kris thrown in could take this on the road.

Jessica
old HB rider speaking up. No baggy jeans, no tight jeans. Not sweats. Leggings would be better than the tight jeans. (look at Dave's fashion in his photo above--english riding pants are more like really thick leggings). William Shatner swore by wearing panty hose under his stage clothes when having to ride (apparently he said this in one of the Star Trek movie/interviews....fountain of trivia knowledge, that's me..who wants me on their team at Trivia Contest?!?).

Booked the Cabo Eco-Cat today. 30% off when you book online. On the same dock, I believe as our ship. They have lots of room left. VIP Whale Watching (the Paris Hilton of Whales) is 27.97 with breakfast/brunch and alcohol included (mimosa's for Karen). Catamaran is 150 passenger. 2 hour trip. kids 5-11 half price. Under 5 free.

I had this grand plan to bake gingerbread cookies next week. I figured it would be a good snack and maybe help with any upset stomach. But then I remembered they won't let me on with them will they? :confused3 Grrrrrr:sad2:

I am 99.8% sure that you can not bring those on with you.
But, will they know if you don't tell them? Probably not....

On the site I have been looking at for water temps they had a 15 day forecast...check it out:surfweb:

Ryan too bad you guys will already be on the ship but I will let the rest of you know...if you see a lady trying to get people to eat cookies, you will know they wouldn't let me bring them on. I think I will risk it. We went out scuba diving in Hawaii and the guy that took us brought some of his wife's ginger cookies. It had been a while since I had been out on a small boat and they were perfect until I got my sea legs (well stomach) back.

OH & talking about ginger. If any of you like Mojito's ask them to make it with Ginger Ale instead. Yummy!

Kris - My collection of lava lamps (mostly because I don't want someone to break into my house and steal them while I'm away)
- A framed autographed picture of me to give to the Captain
- Matthew Broderick voodoo doll (I have no explanation as to why I have such an intense, irrational hatred of him)
- Bob Marley tie-dye shirt to wear for debarkation to see if U.S. Customs profiles me and pulls me aside
- My unfinished Princess Di scrapbook so I can work on it onboard
- Violet and creamsicle-orange paisley bandana (my gang colors so everyone knows not to mess with me)
- A "Get Out of Jail Free" card written in both English and Spanish. I'm not sure if it will work in port but it's worth a try if I get picked up.
- Breakdancing pants (because tequila is unpredictable)
- An empty tarantula cage. I want to leave it on my nightstand with the lid propped open. This will keep the cabin steward on his toes so he doesn't get careless and accidentally break one of my lava lamps.
- Toothbrush

I'm sure I'm missing something but I have time.

Holy shiznitz! I laughed so hard it made me cry! I am a little disturbed about one of the things on your list though. A toothbrush? What do you need a toothbrush for? I figure there will be so much time spent eating that we should all just rub the corn on the cob across our teeth. The one thing I know I need to bring is taken care of; in fact, I don't even have to pack it! Yup, I have memorized Ryan's credit card number! :woohoo:

I had asked this previously and honestly can't remember if anyone responded. Jessica/Ryan and my family are both on the "Cruise to Nowhere" as well.

Sue, technically, you're only allowed unopened, packaged foods onboard; however, that doesn't mean they'll be found; I'm sure it's a health/hygiene issue they're worried about.

Good news about the weather so far. I was was worried that it might be cold or rainy.

What would we be called? The Three _________ ? I'm almost afraid to ask. Dave, do you still hold your man card or was yours revoked, too? Steve and I both ad ours removed and I actually had my sexual orientation questioned by a coworker (again) when I told her everything I was doing/making for the cruise. I guess going for a mani/pedi this afternoon didn't help matters either. :)

Dave, I don't play an instrument. Steve, do you? We could always try out for the passenger talent show!

I think we might just hit it off in person. Not only do I appreciate the Star Trek reference, but I've been accused of the same. I actually had a student once say in the middle of a lecture, "Wow! You're just full of useless information" referring to the bits of trivia I had woven into my lecture for amusement. My only response was, "Wow! You sure know how not to get an A in this class."

How did my name get into your quote of Steve? My paranoia is growing. Did you hear that?

Where are you going to get corn on the cob? I don't think I once saw this on any of the cruises I've been on. Now, one of those big, smoked turkey legs would make for some mighty fine teeth brushing.

Anyone up for turkey leg fencing during the pirate party? I'll bring the steel mesh face masks for safety.

Seriously, I think we should have everyone answer the following question: What is the weirdest thing you ever packed for a vacation (or cruise). Might provide some interesting insight . . .

We have kept if fairly clean up to this point. Now you are just asking for trouble! :rotfl:

LOL - so are you implying the duct tape that I've packed in the past had other uses other than fixing broken luggage, torn soles on shoes, etc.?

I think for me, duct tape and zip ties, are the strangest things I've ever packed. While I don't travel with duct tape all that much any more, I use the zip ties in place of luggage locks as I immediately know if my luggage has been tampered with as they have to be cut off to be removed. I've also traveled with extra toothbrushes in anticipation that someone in my traveling party would forget there's, which seems stranged as these were friends and not family; thus, I wasn't responsible for them.

We already know what Steve and Dave are packing :), so I thought this might make them feel more comfortable (and normal) :rotfl2:
(whatever "normal" means).

Kris, I think I responded to Ryan in the previous post, nevertheless maybe those of us that are staying on board can meet up.

Hi Darrcie and Everyone,

My name is Julie and I am very new to this board. Like...15 minutes new. Practically a zygote. I caught wind of you guys from a post on the DCL page on facebook and, though I know we're just a little over a week out, thought I would say hello.

We (me, my husband Tim, Lillian (will turn 10 Feb. 2) and Noah (5) will be on the cruise. Lillian is also very friendly and would love a friend or two onboard, if she's not too young. She's a pretty mature almost 10 - just ask her!

This will be our 3rd cruise - the kids' 2nd - and, needless to say, it's like the night before Christmas AND a trip to Disneyland up in this piece. In other words - going crazy with anticipation! We are SO looking forward to this.

Hope to hear from you!

Julie

Restaurants in SAn Pedro - pre/post cruise.

restaurant.com has "certificates" for restaurants where you pay $10 and get a certificate/coupon worth $25 (usually you have to spend at least 35 bucks to use the coupon...who doesn't spent that at a restaurant....with more than 3 folks...)...anyway....rght now, can get the same thing, but spend like $4 to get the $25 if you use the coupon code "SPOON" at checkout. Over on cruisecritic, someone raved about the Brewhouse, the 22nd Avenue, Think, anyway...supposed to be good places to eat -- save your money for shore excursions!!

Welcome Julie!

Make sure you come to our meet up the first afternoon from 2:30 - 3:30 in the Promenade Lounge so we can introduce our girls to one another :)
