Et tu Jessica? Then fall the rest of the class....

You will never looking at Rome burning on Spaceship Earth the same again.

LOL - I'm going back through the board to make sure I didn't miss anyone for bracelets and I read this - I totally missed it before! :rotfl2:

Admittedly, I like most of the more modern philosophers over the older one's we've been reading. Then again, some of the more modern are REALLY horrible - like Rawls! He may be a great thinker, but he can't write for you-know-what! :rotfl: I did not care for Cisero one way or the other, but I REALLY liked Thoreau! Most of my class poo-pooed me on that, but what-ever. I didn't necessarily agree with his stance of those who serve in the military, but everything else he wrote was right-on for me. :thumbsup2

I did think about Space Ship earth in my reading, but I thought about it when we were reading Socrates. I don't know if I'm right about the ride, but when we read him I pictured the section on Space Ship earth where they talk about math and astronomy - the Greeks standing around with a book. Am I right about that part - is that who that is in Space Ship earth?!?? I really like Space Ship Earth - except I have to have a scarf to cover my mouth where they have the fake burning log - the smoke they simulate makes me cough and bothers my asthma. :(

Our kids, DD 16, & DS 12 would like to meet some kids their age to hang out with in the clubs. My daughter especially would because we're going with extended family and the kids are all boys under the age of 10.

About her: Super sweet, super cute, is a dancer, track and cross country. A little shy...

DS: cross country, video games and Mac computers. Also cute and sweet and on the shy side.

Any help for them, Disney friends?

Hi there! I am trying to get a count for wrist bands - do you guys think you would be interested or do you want to pass? If you're interested let me know how many adult and how many kid bands! If you're not interested it's not worry, I just thought I would ask! :thumbsup2

I would like to get a semi-final count for wristbands and I've noticed there are a couple of active people that haven't responded. Just in case you didn't see the post, we've been discussing the possibility of ordering wristbands so we know who the DISer's are on the cruise! :thumbsup2

Andrea (Lizzy'sMom), jessicabohn, and Cori (seemefli) -- do you think you guys would be interested? If not, that's alright, I just thought I would ask! If so, how many wrist bands would you like (adult/kid)?

Karen - you commented earlier that you thought it was a good idea. How many do you think you would want? I think you have a couple of small kids with you so I wasn't sure.

Thanks!
Jessica

Jessica (& anyone else that might want to meet up), we are still on the fence about our trip down next month. We are definitely going but not sure the date. Jeff got his end of the year bonus and wants to stay on site but the rates are cheaper for some reason for the weekend of the 17th-19th. I am thinking that will be crazy but then the SoCal passes are no longer good so maybe??? Oh, and I found out there is a Cheer competition (convention center) and some groups performing in the parade the weekend of the 10th so we are torn. Jeff is checking to see what will be a better time to get time off work. I will keep you updated. :3dglasses

When there are big events (cheer competition) at the convention center Disneyland will be packed. We were there on a cheer event weekend a year or two ago and it was packed. You do not want to go on a cheer event weekend.

For the past couple of years the So Cal blockout days are actually less crowed than other days. It is especially noticeable in the early afternoon to early evening which tends to be when the tidal wave of half day So Cal pass visitors arrive.

Ya know - we did this on a previous cruise, and i always forgot to wear mine - hahah sorry - i think we are going to pass this time.. thanks tho!

Andrea in Vegas - who is anxious for January to come!

Jessica,

Have we finalized what the bands will say? I might order more if that don't have the precise date on them. Jan 2011 would be okay, but not the exact dates for the in-laws.

just sent you a PM for 12, but then that would be like 7 adults, 5 kids...

Jessica-Put us down for one kids & one adult. Alec will wear one, or at least I hope and even if I don't remember to wear mine I will keep it on the strap of my bag that I will probably carry with me where ever I go.
Also, with the FE's do you have an exact list somewhere? I know it is posted on the website we have but I didn't know if you had a separate list just with those that are doing the FE's. If you do can I get a copy? :cutie:
Well we will have to keep our fingers crossed about the cheerleaders as it turns out that will be the only time Jeff can get away from work. His boss made it clear he was not to skip the company Christmas party. :sad2: It is funny but the last time we went to WDW we had to endure a kids beauty pageant going on in our hotel. It was scary to see these little, little girls with more make-up on than I have worn in my entire life! And getting an elevator was close to impossible! I think if we can survive that we will be able to endure a Disneyland crowded with cheerleaders!:scared1:
So we will be arriving late on the 10th and leaving mid morning on the 12th. The main thing we are striving for is to get the Magic Morning Saturday and get in line for Candy Canes. We have missed these the last 3 years and don't want to miss out. :santa:
I am still thinking and re-thinking our FE gifts so I have not started them. Being our first time being a part of this, I am nervous that I will be doing the right thing. I thought about Garlic for everyone but I don't think you will want to pack away something like that into your baggage. :laundy: I have a few Disney ideas but I am trying to come up with something that says "The Jeske's" :rotfl:
OK, I am excited & really want all this holiday stuff to be over and done with! :rolleyes1
I guess January will be here before we know it. In the meantime I will keep my eyes open for any & all rumors about extra special stuff for our cruise!
Later,
Sue

Sue - Going at the same time as cheerleaders shouldn't be too bad. Just make sure they aren't sitting behind you on any roller coasters unless you bring along ear plugs. :headache:

We are struggling with what to bring from where we live too. There unfortunately isn't much from Humboldt County I could bring that wouldn't get everyone arrested trying to get back through customs! :lmao: I've got a few generic ideas though so I'll probably just go with those.

We just got back from some Christmas shopping. We are actually mostly done which is a great feeling. Emma is in the bath right now and Amy is preparing side dishes for tonight which is the first of three Thanksgiving dinners for us this week. All this gorging should be good practice for us for the cruise. :thumbsup2

Hey Sue, that list is already on the site. The characters of wonder thing is everyone, but at the top of that page there is a link to a "printable version" (which, doesn't actually print perfectly) - but - THAT list is only FE people. Or - it should be anyway.

Count us in for Saturday the 11th! Let us know how you want to do it/when you want to meet. I imagine you guys want your own family time, so let us know when you want to get together and we will be there! (As a side note, the next week is finals for me, so I will let you know if anything comes up with finals that changes it - but it shouldn't).

Good luck with the candy canes! We don't like candy canes, but we know that there is a crazy rush for them!

By the way - garlic - not such a good idea. Getting that home would not be fun. Also, I think you can only bring "packaged" food on the ship, if it's "home-made" or "raw" I'm not 100% sure they would allow it. :confused3

Let us know about the 11th!

Only packaged foods that are unopened can be brought onboard at least according to the cruise line.

I'm pushing DW to make time for DLR on the 11th. I might regret it since I'll have papers to grade, but I want Brady to see the Christmas decorations, plus it would be great to meet everyone in person. I'll keep you posted.

Kris

BTW, garlic is awesome. Just used some Gilroy garlic to prep dinner tonight.

Disney_farmgirl is still on the "printable version" but they are a NO correct?

and "Lizzy'sMom" is not on the printable version but they are a Yes on the characters of wonder, should they be on the FE list?

Those of you that are GTY have you gotten your room numbers yet? Not having my room number would drive me crazy :rotfl:

We are at the 2 month mark today :cool1:

my two GTY rooms have not yet been assigned.

Hey, me, tabi and noah "may" be in disney on the 11th as well. Working on it. Tabi would love to go on rides with anyone since Noah is too little and I am too creaky. Plane is the issue right now. Am hoping that tickets are less tomorrow (wednesdays supposed to be the day to buy tickets).

I fly a lot (109k miles last year) and my experience is Wednesday is the cheapest day to fly. Early, early Monday morning (EST) is the time to buy plane tickets. Any tickets that are put on hold are usually released and the all the business ticket rush hasn't started up yet for the week. Just my experience.

Just my experience.

Thanks for the advice Frank. I wonder how early "Early, early Monday morning (EST)" is to us west coast folks. Does that mean stay up late Sunday? Or maybe just hire a college student to do it since they don't sleep anyway. ;)

We're going out of town today for our second and third Thanksgivings so I probably won't be posting until after the weekend. We're still not sure if we are going to do anything for the Black Friday sales. Last year we did the midnight sale at the Disney Store.

We're also taking Emma to see Tangled on Saturday. She has been looking forward to seeing it for a while now.

And since there isn't going to be enough food consumed this weekend, we are also going to stop at a few places we've seen on Food Network shows so it should be a fun weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

-steve

I usually check 6 AM CST when I wake up, so around 4 AM on the west coast. Depending on the airline, flight on hold get purged at midnight depending on what time zone their based out of.

This Monday I bought tickets to WDW for Labor Day 2011. We have a Tree House Villa booked and hosting Ashley's family. They all think I am crazy for making the arrangements 10 months out but that's what you have to do sometimes. There are only 60 Tree House Villas after all.

okay, bought tickets (I thought Wednesdays at midnight was the cheapest time to buy tickets....)...so, will be at park on Friday - Monday (12/10-13). I am sure Tabi would love to ride the roller coasters with whoever does (I don't, Noah can't).
