Disney Wonder Jan 23, 2011

Hey all. Where are we this weekend? Yup - that's right, yet again we find ourselves at Disneyland! Working full time + 5 classes is super-duper hard to manage - how I'm working in all of these trips I have no idea!! Actually, yesterday was Ryan's 31st birthday (Happy Birthday Ryan!), but since I was studying for the SAT this morning (yes, I am nearly 30 and took the SAT today) - we weren't able to do anything for his birthday, so, we are spending the day at Disneyland tomorrow and his mom is going to meet us for dinner tomorrow night at Downtown Disney. When will I do my homework?!? :confused3 I have no idea! :rotfl2: Truth be told, I'm not so much in a homework mood today.

Anyhow, just wanted to log on and say "hey" to everyone! We won't be back until late tomorrow night (Ryan wants to see WOC again beause they added a tron thing on the end) - but we should be back around Monday or Tuesday.

have a magical weekend everyone! :wizard:

Good luck on the SAT's!!!

Ryan is in good company. Ashley's birthday was 11/3 and mine is 11/8.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to both of you! :cake::bday:party:It's sad beause I don't have a birthday until July :sad1: oh wait - I will be 30 in July . . . NO RUSH! :scared1:

Happy Birthday Ryan, Frank & Ashley!

Best of luck with your SATs Jessica. How soon do you find out how you did? Have fun at Disneyland.

No mouse for me today. Amy is off at a board meeting for the school so that leaves me home alone with Emma who wasn't aware of the time change. I think my morning will be spent helping her clean her fish tank after a best two out of three on Princess Memory.

We were playing games last night and I left the TV on quietly for background noise. A Shark Week-like documentary came on and a great white was coming out of the water to eat a seal. Emma's eyes got big and I quickly changed the channel. There is no way I'm letting her get freaked out about being on the ocean with only 2+ months to go! Luckily she didn't ask any questions. I was quick to say, "It's your turn to pick a card Emma!"

On a trip-related note, I got a new GPS and loaded it up with all the locations (terminal, airport, rental car, family, etc.) for the January trip. It was a fun excuse to stay up late last night.

I hope everyone is having a nice weekend!

I find myself saying the same thing here: "Sorry I haven't posted in a while," "I'm finally all caught up with the board," and "Welcome to all the NEW people!!!" :lmao:

School has been crazy, but this semester is almost over and then I'll just have one more semester to go. I'm super excited about getting my paralegal certificate in February! Aside from that, we don't have much of a social life. :sad2: Halloween was awesome though! I'm so sad it has come and gone.

JESSICA: I am so happy you are diabetes free!!! I know I am super late on this and I'm sorry! :rotfl:By the way, please put us down for 2 wristbands. We agree that lime green sucks, and prefer black/red combo, but whatever the majority wants is perfectly fine with us. Hope you didn't think the Halloween party wasn't worth it. Sergio and I had a great time and we hope you guys did too.

STEVE: Thanks for the suggestion about the DVC points. Sergio and I decided to just stay at the Disneyland Hotel since we've stayed there before and thought it was awesome! BUT, we'll definitely do that in the future when we have more time to plan it out. We totally planned this outing at the last minute.

I know exactly what everyone is going through with all the antsiness!!! I will also be creating countdowns for Thanksgiving, Christmas, our 8th year wedding anniversary and New Years, just so I can keep my mind distracted. :rotfl2:

RYAN: I haven't seen any of the billboards you have talked about. If they are on the 91 freeway, I am going to have to look out for them the next time we go out to Disneyland. But I have NO IDEA when that's going to be. :sad1: I hope you had a WONDERful birthday!!!

KRIS: I don't think I ever responded to you, and I'm so sorry if I didn't, but my birthday is on October 5th, so I think that means we share the same birthday. I hope you had a great birthday. My birthday rocked my socks! :cool1:

Tomorrow is the day Sergio and I can book stuff for the cruise. All we are really going to book is our Palo reservations - no excursions. Sergio and I decided that we are just going to wing it when it comes to the excursions because it's not the main reason we wanted to go on the cruise in the first place. If there's something we're interested in doing when we get off the ship, then we'll do it...if we can't, then we won't. We just want to have a great time, worry- and stress-free without a care in the world. We can't wait.

Hope everyone has a GREAT work/school week.

I didn't realize our birthdays were the exact same day; awesome!

My actual birthday wasn't all that fun; I spent the whole day and into the evening in meetings (yuck!). However, we spent the weekend at Disneyland, so that was fun, except for the fact that by DS didn't want to go the first day because "Disneyland is too far away." And of course when we were headed home: "I don't want to go home; I want to go to Disneyland." The life of a three year old . . .

2. Have you guys noticed that they changed the Port time in PV and Mazatlan? We are now leaving PV at 6PM and Mazatlan at 4 PM  Does any one know why? Dave and I are on a Fishing trip in Mazatlan and I'm not sure if we should cancel. 4PM is really cutting it close.[/QUOTE]

So I just got off the phone with DCL and they still have the old times in their system. The very nice woman could not tell me why the web site says one thing and her system says we are leaving at 7pm PV and 6pm Mazatlan.
I not sure what to do now.:confused3

I did notice after you mentioned it earlier; sorry for forgetting to reply.

My personal guess is safety concerns. I'm thinking DCL may want passengers back onboard before it gets dark as there's likely a greater chance of danger to tourists after dark. While I'm not aware of any issues in these ports, that's my thinking behind it, especially since cruise ships traditionally leave PV much later in the evening because of the nightlife there. Further, PV and Mazatlan aren't that far away, so there's no need for the extra time. The only other possibility I can think of is to have enough time to get far enough out of port from PV for the fireworks during the pirate show.

Have you contacted your fishing charter? I'm sure they'd be able to work with you.

Thanks Kris I think I will contact our fishing charter. We went through Mazatlan Frank, so I'm sure he will work with us. I do think it's strange that DCL does not have the same information as on the Web site. I just watched a video of a couple missing their crusie ship and I guess it just freaked me out :scared:

That is our fear. We always seemed to be back on board hours before we were to leave the port!

I called this morning, as sometimes you can get a cast member that knows more or less than another, she said her info shows us back on board in Mazatlan @ 6PM. She did say that you should check before leaving the ship in Mazatlan. I don't think that is very fair but I guess it would discourage people from doing their own thing. :confused3 She said she had no reason for the change or why the web site shows differently. :sad1: It is frustrating as we were hoping to go in search of a restaurant after our horseback riding but now we will have to wait and just have plan A and plan B. :rolleyes1
Anyone else waiting for Thanksgiving to be over and done with? We are having a big family dinner here @ our house and we can't even settle down and create our menu. We need to do it soon so we can tell others what to bring. Maybe tonight. But whenever we sit down and talk, it is about the cruise or our quick trip to DL next month. :woohoo:
I hope all is well with the rest of you!!!!
Later,
Sue

Our kids, DD 16, & DS 12 would like to meet some kids their age to hang out with in the clubs. My daughter especially would because we're going with extended family and the kids are all boys under the age of 10.

About her: Super sweet, super cute, is a dancer, track and cross country. A little shy...

DS: cross country, video games and Mac computers. Also cute and sweet and on the shy side.

Any help for them, Disney friends?

Sorry 3 posts in a row.. I am full of questions and info tonight! :rotfl:

Is anybody going to go to the Midevil Times in L.A? There is a pirates one too. We live a couple hours away and have never been. We are thinking of going the night before the cruise. Anybody recommend one over the other? I have always wanted to go. Thanks.

My oldest daughter is 13. I don't know if that's too young for your daughter:confused3 She's into chorus, gymnastics, and music.

My son, Alec, is 10 but has much older brothers (20 & 22) so hanging out with older kids isn't an issue. He will have his DSi in hand probably the WHOLE time. I don't know if he is too young but we can intro them and see if they want to hang out. He is also into writing and illustrating his own stories, kind of like comics but with more words. At least they can maybe go to Oceaneers Lab together. This will be his 2nd cruise so he knows the lab well but we were on the Magic last time. He loved hanging out in the Lab! But I have to warn you he can be a non-stop talker sometimes. :rolleyes1
I am debating giving him more freedom this cruise. We will have a set of walkie talkies in case we feel brave. Have you thought about that for your teen? Our last cruise our table mate had 2 pre-teens and they had a blast with their freedom. They had to check in with him at regular times and he could easily track them down if necessary. I am not sure if Alec is ready for that much freedom or not. We shall see.

I have been to Medieval Times in Dallas. Assuming they are all about the same, it is fun. You eat with your hands (chicken legs, potato, soup) -- no utensils just like in Medieval times. You root for "your" night based on what section you sit in. Go early, they have knighting and princess ceremonies. Book it online for a discount.

Here are what the Navigators looked like on the 08 Mexican Rivera if anybody is interested.

Very cool. Thanks for posting. We are going to miss Tim Moss on this cruise. He is on the Magic and was on that cruise. I always found it interesting they have a Friends of Bill W meeting every morning. Wonder if they do that on all cruise ships.

On this cruise, F&A will mostly likely be attending the friends of Jose Cuervo meeting ;-)

Frank

Thanks Sue. One of my son's cousin who is also traveling with us is 10. We'll have to let the three boys meet. :)

Giving them the walkie talkies might be a good idea. I'll have to start planning...
