Disney Wonder Jan 23, 2011

Funny story, Kidlette!!:lmao: I don't know how much to blame you were. If you were new someone should have seen it. I know I would have gone over my ressies, new or not.

Yes, Sammy Hagar's place is the one. Problem is that we leave Cabo @ 3:30 PM, not sure what we will be able to squeeze in that day. Maybe next trip. :confused3

OK, so I already have DS excited about going horsebackriding, DH is NOT into horses at all. Then there is a zip line but I have a feeling DS will be brave up until the time to climb on and go. Maybe I will look through utube and see if I can find a good video for him to watch of it. Other than that lots of snorkeling, whales and beach time. Maybe the colonial houses you mentioned or something like that in Mazatlan or PV since we have more time there.
Why can't we skip over Fall? I need Summer but then skip Sept-Nov would be OK.

What makes the guy a jerk is that it was kind of his fault. He was a Dr. in Cali for a wedding or something when he and his wife decided they wanted a 3 day getaway. He wanted to leave the NEXT DAY and he had a specific resort he wanted. When I told him the resort wasn't available I told him there were only "x" number of them available wtihin a certain distance. I SPECIFICALLY TOLD HIM this rersort is x miles from your original resort. He knew damn well where he was going to be, he just said everything was OK because he knew I was new and he knew he could get the company to pay for all of the things they did. He was an @ss!

Horseback riding is one of the things I REALLY want to do, but my husband doesn't want to. Even if I could get him to go, I would have to find out about the weight limit. Maybe your husband and my husband can hang out while we go horseback riding! :rotfl: If only Disney had a casino! How old is your son? I would NOT want to go zip-lining; I'm scared of heights and stuff so that would not be good! While you're zip-lining I'll be hanging out by the pool or playing me some BINGO! :yay:

My perfect shore excursion list would be: Sea Lion or Dolphin swim, whale watching, snorkeling!

I love both and we have both as our "homes" ;>) If we could afford airfare, we would go more often.
We have stayed in the Grand CA many times but only once in the DVC units. I am so disappointed that if we can't get into the DVC units we can't stay in the hotel anymore. We just have to plan further in advance I guess or settle with the Disneyland Hotel or PP.
Do you know if the studios are all on the lower floors or are they all over? When we stayed we were on the ground floor and with all the construction there was very little to see of the park. ;>( not a big deal for one night but thought I would ask.

It is my understanding that there are no dedicated studios or 1 bedrooms, just Grand Villas and 2 bedroom lockoffs so the studio rooms should be spread throughout. We got a ground floor room last time too. I was surprised by how quiet the rooms are with California Adventure next door, but smoke detector light was sooooooo bright it was making us crazy.

This is not our home resort so I hope we will not have trouble getting a room for Friday and Saturday night. I have to wait for the 7 month mark.

When you think about it, there are all different studio categories: park view, downtown view, parking lot view. How could there be all of those views if they were all on the ground floor? This tells me that they have studios all over!

I could be wrong though! ;)

We took a tour they had going when we were there in early April of the Grand Villa. Man, was it beautiful! Pool Table, balconies....a girl can dream!:cloud9:

I am hoping for a nice high park view when we go before the cruise as we have reserved a Deluxe Studio.

Keep the ideas coming for Mexico, everyone!pirate:

That would have been amazing to see! How lucky you are to have seen that! You're so lucky! :shamrock:

Ryan tells me I'm wrong about studios, apparently there aren't different categories. Ehh, whatever! :rotfl2: Let me be wrong, I don't mind!

No matter what the rooms are, I hope you get what you want! :cool1:

Hi Everyone,

We'll be joining you on the 1/23 Wonder. We are Steve (36), DW Amy (33), and DD Emma (4). This will be our fourth Disney cruise (Emma's second) but first on the Wonder. We sailed the Eastern, Western, and first ever Panama Canal sailing all on the Magic.

We cruised with Princess and Royal Caribbean twice each. We sailed these three Mexican Riviera ports with Princess and visited Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas on the Panama Canal cruise.

We too are trying to save money by not flying all the way to Florida when we can drive to L.A. and sail from there. We live in California but at the opposite end of the state from Disneyland.

Count us in for the FE too. I look forward to chatting with all of you!

Welcome aboard:banana: That photo of your Minnie DD is so cute.

:welcome:

Of course we have room for you! We are SO HAPPY to have you!

What is your cabin number? I will add you to the FE list! It will be nice to have a 4 year old to FE for! I was worried that due to the date and destination we wouldn't have any kids on the sailing. We are soo excited for FE's! :woohoo:

This will be mine and Ryan's 2nd Disney cruise. He went on other cruises with his parents growing up, and the only other cruise I've been on is Carnival's Western Caribb (before I met Ryan). But now that we've gone Disney, we'll never go back! :cool1:

If you go to Disney every year, are you DVC members? Ryan and I have been members for 2 years now (??). We LOVE IT! :thumbsup2

It's sad you live too far from Disneyland, it's nice living so close to get a "Disney fix" when you need it! :yay:

Also - I noticed your signature has marathon things in it. My mother-in-law runs marathons and she loves it! She usually does the Disneyland and Disney World Marathons, but due to a death in the family she hasn't run in almost a year. A year or two ago she ran the Boston Marathon and I think that that medal is her most prized possession! LOL.

Well, welcome! pirate: :sail:

Hi Jessica, thanks for the warm welcome. Our cabin number is 6003 although it will be changing as I have faith that the Upgrade Fairy is looking out for us! :wizard: Wishful thinking, I know. It looks like we are just around the corner from you.

Emma's only Disney cruise was last May and the highlight of her trip was coming back to the room every day to find new gifts in our FE. She also loved walking the decks and putting our gifts into their FE's. We sure met some great DISers on that cruise and the FE really added to our experience.

Yes, we are DVC members too at SSR although I don't know if we will ever stay there as we are hooked on AKV. I think we bought in middle to late 2006, the same year DD was born. We usually stayed in value and moderate rooms before but it was just getting too hard to travel with an infant who was a light sleeper. It was so nice to get 1BR units and put her to bed in the bedroom while we stayed up late. It also saves us a small fortune having the kitchen. We LOVE our DVC too! I just wish it didn't cost us so much to fly to Florida from here.

We get to Disneyland once or twice a year too as we have family in the San Fernando Valley area. Disneyland is the best way to bribe me into a trip to see the in-laws! :rolleyes1

I see you are from San Diego. We used to live in Escondido and I worked in Carlsbad (across the street from Legoland) and DW worked at UCSD. I loved it down there. We had AP's to Disneyland and went at least once a month.

Yeah, I had my second (or was it third?) mid-life crisis two years ago and got into running. It was actually after listening to a podcast about the WDW Half Marathon. I just ran the WDW Marathon in January. It was my first full marathon and I loved it. My wife and I are already registered for the Disneyland Half Marathon in September. It will be my first time running it and her first half marathon.

I see from your signature you were just at AKV in January too. We were at Kidani Village from the 4th through 17th.

That's great that your MIL runs and has run Boston. I'd be really proud of that medal too. I'm nowhere close to being able to qualify for Boston as I'm pretty slow. I can take down a Boston Creme Pie in no time though!

If anyone is interested, I set up a site for our last cruise. I stole the idea from the Panama Canal repositioning cruise. It is basically a master list of the DISers on the cruise, along with cabin numbers, a photo if they wish to share, and any other information they want other DISers to know about them like any occasions they are celebrating. I also linked our site to the Cruise Meets thread and to a map of the ship with the cabins color-coded which made walking the halls for the FE much easier and was nice to see who your neighbors were.

As you can tell, I have very little web-design ability and am even less artistic but I'd be happy to duplicate this for our cruise if there is any interest. The link is here: http://pages.suddenlink.net/airtime247/

Welcome to airtime247 & ymchavez to our humble group! :goodvibes

I am still on the fence about FE's but I may just jump in any day/week now. ;) I keep trying to justify either buying a FE and the goodies to hand out or a used copy of the PassPorter (2008?) that would have some Mexico ports in it. :upsidedow

Steve, I think that is a wonderful idea about the web page. Maybe we will start getting more and more DIS'ers as we get closer to January. But if you start now, it will be easy! Let me know if there is anything I can help with. I am OK with computers but html, I have only taken one class about a year ago. Unless the website makes it easy.

Let's keep posting, we will get to January before you know it!:dance3:

Evening Steve :)

I have to run to class so I'll respond to your whole post later this evening. I just wanted to say that I think the website is a fantastic idea! :worship: I am good with html (but a hosted site like google is probably easier to manage). You're more than welcome to do that if you want, or I can keep a site going with the FE list I have (hopefully the list will go out of control!) I started a quick idea of one, but we don't have to use it. If you want, take a look at tell me what you think. The FE link could go to a page you make with a list similar, or it can go to a spreadsheet type page that I insert from the FE list. The other links I think would be fun! If people wanted, they could send me or you pictures and we could upload them, etc (either to "get to know eachother" before the cruise, or to share pics of our FE's we've gotten!). Anyway, I was just thinking we could expand on your idea! Let me know what you think! http://sites.google.com/site/wonderjan23/ :woohoo:

I will email you regarding the rest of it when I get home from school (or tomorrow morning) :thumbsup2

You'll get a lot more enjoyment out of an FE! Beside, you can research Mexico on the internet, or pick our brains! :woohoo:

For the record...yes....I am trying to sway Sue ;) :rotfl: :lmao:
