Our cabin number is 6003 although it will be changing as I have faith that the Upgrade Fairy is looking out for us!Wishful thinking, I know. It looks like we are just around the corner from you.
Yes, we are DVC members too at SSR although I don't know if we will ever stay there as we are hooked on AKV. I think we bought in middle to late 2006, the same year DD was born. We usually stayed in value and moderate rooms before but it was just getting too hard to travel with an infant who was a light sleeper. It was so nice to get 1BR units and put her to bed in the bedroom while we stayed up late. It also saves us a small fortune having the kitchen. We LOVE our DVC too! I just wish it didn't cost us so much to fly to Florida from here.
I see you are from San Diego. We used to live in Escondido and I worked in Carlsbad (across the street from Legoland) and DW worked at UCSD. I loved it down there. We had AP's to Disneyland and went at least once a month.
Yeah, I had my second (or was it third?) mid-life crisis two years ago and got into running. It was actually after listening to a podcast about the WDW Half Marathon. I just ran the WDW Marathon in January. It was my first full marathon and I loved it. My wife and I are already registered for the Disneyland Half Marathon in September. It will be my first time running it and her first half marathon.
That's great that your MIL runs and has run Boston. I'd be really proud of that medal too. I'm nowhere close to being able to qualify for Boston as I'm pretty slow. I can take down a Boston Creme Pie in no time though!
I see from your signature you were just at AKV in January too. We were at Kidani Village from the 4th through 17th.
If anyone is interested, I set up a site for our last cruise. I stole the idea from the Panama Canal repositioning cruise. It is basically a master list of the DISers on the cruise, along with cabin numbers, a photo if they wish to share, and any other information they want other DISers to know about them like any occasions they are celebrating. I also linked our site to the Cruise Meets thread and to a map of the ship with the cabins color-coded which made walking the halls for the FE much easier and was nice to see who your neighbors were.
As you can tell, I have very little web-design ability and am even less artistic but I'd be happy to duplicate this for our cruise if there is any interest. The link is here: http://pages.suddenlink.net/airtime247/

Hi again - I'm back from my math class
First - I want to say that I looked at your picture posted on the URL you gave, and your little girl is SO ADORABLE!![]()
We own at AKV Jambo, and we love it! We've stayed at Saratoga Springs once, but we much prefer AKV! We don't have kids (yet), so having a 1 bedroom has not been necessary for us. When it becomes a necessity though, I imagine we will buy more points! Also because we don't have kids (and we weren't in financial trouble until recently), we've never needed the kitchen either. We absolutely LOVE eating at all of our favorite restaurants while we're there. Honestly, the food is probably 1/2 the reason we go
![]()
yup! We are San Diego born and raised - both of us! I worked in Escondido for a short time, but mostly we were in East County. Until a couple of months ago we were in Temecula, and before that we were in Vegas for 2.5 years. Now we're in Riverside, and we HATE IT! We have DL annual passes now, and we go once every couple of weeks (sometimes more). Unfortunately our passes expire in June and we will not be able to renew them this time.![]()
That's too funny! I think it would take a mid-life crisis to want to run!Personally, I couldn't even if I wanted (over weight, etc), but I would never ever never want to!
As far as the Boston Creme Pie, I've never had it!
Yes, we were there too; January 7 - January 17 at Jambo! I ask...why did it have to end?!?![]()
Hey - we were there at the same time so maybe we rode a bus together!![]()
Jessica, I checked out your site and it looks great. I say we go with it. The pictures are fun because we will recognize each other in the terminal and on the ship. It makes it a lot easier to identify each other. Not everyone feels comfortable with posting them though which is completely understandable.
Another idea if we get our group large enough is to make up something that helps identify each other on the cruise. We participated in this twice before. The first time was the Panama Canal cruise where the FE originated. We all wore matching lanyards. Around the ship, people started referring to us as "The Lanyard People" as we were pretty visible and had a blast together. On an Eastern sailing, we all wore matching lime DIS green bracelet bands like the yellow Livestrong bands you see. They were a little harder to spot but we still saw some out there and it made it easy for people to approach each other as fellow Disboards people.
Funny story about your idea of cross-referencing our cabins, we actually did that for our PC cruise. Someone was responsible for linking the early seating together and the person linking the late dining disappeared so I threw the offer out there to anyone if they wanted to link their dining with us, we'd love to join them. We were a little nervous about the two of us being stuck at a table with complete strangers for 14 nights and thought it would be nice to "meet" ahead of time on our cruise thread.
Within a day I had a couple respond. And then another, and then another. It quickly got CRAZY and consumed many nights of planning for me. I had six couples initially and DCL informed me they couldn't really accomodate for larger than a table for eight. I threw the offer out there again to try to find a few more to link with the people that couldn't fit at a table for eight and it quickly snowballed to 70 people. Yes, 70 DISers (mostly strangers to each other) wanted to link late dining.
I got a surprise call from the dining coordinator from DCL who had the seating chart in front of her. She took all the infomation I had and we spent hours on the phone piecing together the seating chart into tables of 8, 6, and 4. Certain people wanted to be together and we tried to put people with kids of similar ages together. It reminded me of the complicated algorithms from my programming days in school! We finally put together all the dining and it couldn't have turned out better. We ended up having this huge group on the same rotation in the restaurants at the same time.
It had to end because we got tired of freezing and had to come home to our 50-degree temperatures to thaw out! We were with friends and if you experienced a bus ride with our three little monsters, you would have remembered us!j/k I hope you had as much fun as we did.
Hi There,
Wanted to introduce myself, My name is Amy and I am Steve's (airtime247) wife. Now I know what he has been up to lately writing novels on Disboards, lol!
I am so excited to be going on another Disney cruise, especially since we have never been on the Wonder. Can't wait!
Our new page looks great! FYI, it will be DH-Jeff, DS-Alec (he just turned 10) and myself-Sue. I'm still working on the FE decision. The main problem is I don't want to say yes & then not get the FE to hang outside of our cabin, which BTW is #6078. I don't like taking chances with upgrades and we had a few extra points. So we booked a balcony room. Last time we had the family one, we will see what the difference is in January.
Since we are telling a bit more about ourselves, let's see....
We own at SSR, AKV & VGC. Hopefully we won't have to sell off one but the belt is tightened and we are keeping our fingers crossed.
We took our first Disney cruise back in Jan 2008 on the Magic, Eastern Caribbean cruise. We have stayed at SSR, AKV (and yes, Boma is to die for!) and the Yacht Club. Mainly we travel from Nor Cal down to So Cal to go to Disneyland. I grew up in the Santa Monica area so DL is old hat to me, DH says I should charge for tours @ DL with how much I seem to know. Anyway, DH & DS quickly became addicts. ;>) DS went to DL the 1st time when he was 2 months old! We were supposed to go on the return cruise from Europe (Sept 2010) but canceled a few months ago when airfare was looking too pricey to get to Barcelona and then home from Florida. But this cruise will make me feel so much better! I can't wait.
So there you go, me in a few paragraphs.
Later,
Sue
So it looks like we are the only ones from the east coast so far. Dave (52) and I (49) live in Annapolis Maryland. I turn 50 in April so this trip is the start of my birthday year. We are part of DVC as well, Vero Beach and AKV. I love AKV, and I purchased it on a DCL trip. I know every thing about Florida but this will be my first trip to CA. I know nothing about Disneyland. We hope to fly in on Friday and see a little bit of CA before the cruise. I can't wait.
Jessica I love the web site and will sending you a photo soon. Thanks for setting that up.
Awesome, I will keep an eye out for your pictures! And, don't thank me - thank Steve - it was his idea!to Steve
Also, I have to say, "Disnelyand virgins...how is that possible?!?!?" We would love to give you the grand tour, but Ryan and I are on the 2 night Disney "cruise to nowhere" directly preceding this sailing!Hey - everyone should hop on the 2 night sailing! (It's actually selling out so quickly that the prices keep rising/fluxing).
Sue - Great find on the Tigger FE. That is exactly like my FE except mine is yellow and has Mickey. I originally searched Ebay for you but struck out as what few I found were really expensive. After reading the description in your link, I searched for "Storage Hanging Organizer" and found a ton of options for as low as $1.
Cathy - What a great trip to celebrate your birthday. I think you'll love Disneyland. As much as I really love WDW as it's my favorite place to travel to, I don't feel it has the charm and nostalgia Disneyland has. It is really neat being in the park Walt built.
If you are limited for time, be sure you hit the things they don't have at WDW like the Matterhorn Bobsleds, Indiana Jones, Pinocchio, Mr Toad, Alice in Wonderland, Nemo subs, Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin, Storybook Land Canal Boats, and also Space Mountain and Pirates as they are much better here. DCA has a lot of haters in the Disney community but if you go into it with an open mind, you'll have a lot of fun there too.
In addition to park info, let us know if you need any hotel or local restaurant recommendations.

Gee, I was 3 years old when I lost my DL virginity, does that make me bad?![]()
![]()
WOW it's been a long time since I'v been called a "virgin",but sad to say yes I am a "DisneyLand Virgin". We did look into the 2night crusie to nowhere, but I really want to see Disneyland and some of CA. I hear that Disneyland is no where the size of Disneyworld but I still can't wait to see it.
