Disney Wonder ~ Alaska ~ July 16, 2012

Hi!

We are in cabin number 2048.

Thanks!!

Nancy & Bruce

Thanks for the cabin info! By any chance were you on the Med. Cruise last summer in July? Or, perhaps the Wonder for Thanksgiving? I recognize your name from somewhere.
See ya soon!

Will we have a meet and greet?

Does anyone who has cruised before know if there is a good time/location on the first day or maybe the second day (which is a sea day) for a meetup?

It sounds like we have some very experienced cruiser out there. I am so excited about our cruise in 2 weeks, just want to make sure I don't forget anything. If you have some good ideas of what I should make sure I pack that I might not think of please pass it on!! Thanks

From my experience, with kiddos, luggage coming, etc. It is hard to meet the first day. I would think the day at sea would probably be the best time to meet.

I haven't been on a cruise before, but I have been actively seeking advice on what to bring. One of my friends said to make sure to bring bags that you can unpack and then squish down to store under the bed so you don't have to step over them the whole trip. She also recommended that we bring empty refillable bottles if we want to take drinks back to our room. Another person said to bring binoculars and bug spray to Alaska. Everyone said to plan on layering.

Sorry....been crazy busy here!

Our cabin number is 2042, and Sean has turned 12 since I last posted!

So excited about this!

I was wondering where everyone is from who is participating in the FE? We're from Canada, Ontario to be specific, and I was thinking to bring some souvenir type items as part of our FE gifties. So if there's anyone else from Canada on the list, I would rather select something else for them.....

Well, duh! I just realized it says on everyone's sidebar thingy where they're from. Just ignore me, crazy Canuck. Too much drywall dust here, affecting my brain! That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

How about 11 am on day 2?

What's the best place to meet?

Thanks for cabin number. I think that is everyone. I'm not from Canada - WOW Canadian suvieners (sp) would be fun!!

What if we had a Meet/Greet at 11:00am in Promenade lounge on Day 2. July 17?

Yes!! We were on the Wonder on Thanksgiving! Happy to be sailing with you again!!

Just bid $100 on Priceline in Seattle arriving 7/15 for our cruise leaving on 7/16.

Received/"won" the Pan Pacific Seattle (the bid area/zone is Space Needle).

Just FYI for anyone looking for a good deal.

There are tons of tricks to bidding on Priceline. You can learn more info on various bidding websites.

In my past experience, hotels & pricing changes on Priceline from day to day. So if you bid tomorrow, for example, the winning hotel/bid might be different.

Hope this helps someone!

Only 10 days left before our cruise. FEs are done. FE gifts are getting there.

Hi everyone,
I am starting to pack today as I am leaving Wed. for Seattle. Not that I am an expert, but with the several cruises I have under my belt, below is a list of things I am bringing that I wouldn't know about if I hadn't cruised before. Of course I have never been to Alaska, so I am sure I am forgetting some cold weather gear:

-Passports!
-Signature page from online check-in from Disney
-Disney Cruise luggage tags
-A separate carry-with items needed when getting on ship. Sometimes luggage doesn't arrive until dinner time.
-Power strip-for charging items. Outlets are a little scarce if you have a lot of electronics or kids with electronics.
-Tote bag for ship and excursions
-Plastic clear door shoe hanger - this is great to hang on the bathroom door to put all kinds of little items. If you have a full cabin, drawer space and bathroom counter space can be tight.
-Highlighters for the daily Navigator
-Binoculars
-Bug Spray
-snacks for kids
-Alcohol - Unlike other cruises, you can bring your won alcohol onboard. We bring vodka and rum and then mix it with soda at the soda station. Also, there is hot chocolate, so Peppermint Schnapps might be tasty. We'll usually buy beer, wine, and water when stopping at the ports. It saves lots of money!!
-There are laudry rooms so I will throw in some of those all in one detergent/softener sheets just in case.
-gloves, hat, umbrella
-sunscreen
-Ipod speakers
-Penlight
-ziplock bags - it just seems like I always need them
-One dollar bills for room service tips
-batteries
-Trading pins
-FEs
-Pirate gear
-Insulated cups for cocktails
-First Aid Kit
-luggage that will fit uder the bed. Most duffle bags and soft suitcases fit under the bed while empty.

If I think of anything else as I go I'll keep you posted.:wave2:

A coworker just got back from her Alaska cruise and said it rained on them often. She was glad they had brought warmer jackets and said that not all of them had hoods and that was a problem. She used an umbrella but said you don't see too many of those - however she wasn't going to get her hair wet

Thanks for the packing list, wouldn't have thought of a power strip, but that is such an issue when traveling!

I got a tip from a fellow scrapbooker for those of us who like to save paper things to put in our book, bring a photo mailer envelope to put things in so they don't get crushed.

Almost there! Can't Wait!

Quick Question: This is 1st disney cruise and 1st time participating in the FE gift exchange. Do we just deliver the FE any day of the cruise or is there a particular day that is better?
