Disney Wonder - 1/23/2011 - Welcome back to LA!

This is frustrating for me, because I won't have another way to the port other than the shuttle as we won't have a car there. I seriously don't want to wait until 10:30 (along with everyone else). I wonder if we could get a taxi?

I'm sure you can, it's a quick ride to the port from the hotel. If you do decide to take the shuttle, be sure to sign up for it as soon as you check in. I overheard someone complaining that they didn't know they had to sign up and the earliest slots available were after 11:30.

We are traveling with a party of 8 adults and 3 children.

Grandpa is wheelchair bound...

I'm looking more and more at the Crowne Plaza, because it offers a shuttle with a wheelchair lift for Grandpa.

Anyone else use any other hotel besides the double tree that's near that offers transport with lifts?

Has anyone stayed at the crowne plaza prior to leaving port? Good or bad?

I do not remember anyone in tux's for formal night. Lots of jacket and ties. I only wore a shirt and tie.

Most people wore some type of pirate accessory. We just wore bandanas from dinner. Our girls wore pirate dresses.

We were on the APTAPTA early rotation. My wife and I did not do Palo. My favorite meal was the feticcini on our second Triton night. My wife had the lobster and loved it. It was big. The other meals were ok. I have no idea about crustables.

I thought the room temps were fine. The girls wanted jackets for the theatre.

Our 3 year old loved the club. Every time we looked in they were busy. She had a little melt down one day. By the time I got there from the page, she was sitting in a counselors laughing at the show. Our 7 year old had a good time in the lab, they seemed to have more free time.

Stinkerbell ran the FE's, but we did not participate. I am sure it went good.

We ate a palapas in PV, but we just had chips/guac and cheese crisps. They are some good restaurants, remember from our last trip. I am sure if you ask in town they can direct.

These are the answers I know. Hope it helps.

We stayed at the Doubletree but the first shuttle didn't leave until 1030, so I had DH drop me off at 945 to get an early number. Check in was slow, the CM was new and this was her first day. The boarding cards are handed out after check in and before the security scan, so I had to show my KTTW card before getting a number. The terminal was actually pretty empty at 10 but after 10:30 it became really busy. I was able to register the kids and get their armbands at 11 and we boarded around 1145. If you really want tickets to the tea, get to the port at 0930 and go to guest services first thing after boarding. For the tastings, we had several people show up to the tequila tasting late and without a reservation. The tasting started 30 minutes late because they kept letting people join in, it was difficult having those shots in front of me and having to wait.
This is good information to know, thanks. We are also staying at the Doubletree and I was planning on getting to the port at 10am. Were you able to check in by yourself without the rest of your party without a problem? Once you went through security, were you able to come back down and help your husband with the kids? I will plan on having my husband drop me off at the port early. Then I am worried about him checking in by himself with the kids.

Wow! I learned something in the Naviagators, so thanks! I have a 13 yr old. I thought he would be in the teen group, but looks like he will be in the EDGE group. Any thoughts?

Thanks!:cool1:

1. How formal was formal night? Were majority in tux's and formal dresses?
2. Were lots of adults/children dressed in pirate outfits?
3.Which MDR did you enjoy the most? Which meal did you love? Hate?
4. Are crustables still avail?
5.Were theaters and MDR really cold?
6.If you went to Palo did you also go to MDR? My Palo night is on Formal night, should I try to go to both? Maybe just do dessert in MDR for the experience?
7.In kids clubs, are the kids always doing projects/activities or do they just kinda roam around? I have a 3 and 5 year old.
8.Did you participate in FE's? Or decorate door? I've heard reports of magnets/gifts being taken?
9. Did you eat in Cabo or PV. I'm looking forward to some good food. Any recommendations??
10.If you didn't have an excursion booked how long to tender in Cabo and when should you get in line to tender?
11. Ocean temps at Ports?
Ok sorry for all the questions!!! :) hope others want to know these too??

1) cruises on disney have gotten really casual over the years. i used to see a lot of tuxes but this time only a handful. most people wore suits. some people just wore slacks and a button up shirt.

2) there were a few families all decked out in pirate outfits but mostly it was just kids walking around with a sword and an eye patch, etc.

3) i like triton the best because i like french food.

4) dunno. i didn't ask. they didn't offer.

5) not for me but i run sort of warm. the rooms did get a little cold at night.

6) i went to both but everyone else just went to Palo. Palo is filling enough. i went because it was pirate night and i wanted to have fun with my son so i fed him in the MDR and then put him in the kid's club and then went to palo.

7) mix of activities and roaming around.

8) i didn't. lots of decorated doors though.

9) i didn't. the places near the dock in cabo didn't look very authentic to me.

10) i would get in line about 2 hours after they start. they will make an announcement when there is no line to tender.

11) don't know.

I am so excited to see that there is Edge on the Wonder after all! I keep getting different info and my then 12 year old will be so excited to have his "own" place, away from his little brother!

Kristi - I'm in the same situation. We're staying at the Crown Plaza and I was hoping to get over to the port before the fam and get us all checked in...if that's even possible.

My son and I checked in together and DH and DD checked in about an hour later. I had my passport and DS's birth certificate and DH had his passport and DD's birth certificate. A security guard did ask to see documentation before we entered the terminal but I guess they didn't ask DH because I had everything cruise related with me. Since I had already given the CM the documentation, DH and DD just showed their i.d., got their picture taken and were given their KTTW cards. He said they were passing out boarding card #12 when he went through security, so within an hour time frame the boarding numbers went from #3 to a #12. This is probably not a huge deal if you don't have any immediate business to attend to onboard (changing dinner seatings, reserving Palo, getting tea tickets etc...). On a side note: We were able to book Palo dinner later in the week, I just walked up to the desk in the restaurant and asked for a reservation-it was easy and they had several days/times available.

Hi!

How were your cruise sea conditions on the MR cruise in Jan? We are going March 6th and are hoping for calm seas. Was it fairly calm or did you have rocky days/nights?

Thanks!

Were there any little boys at the Tea Party? or is it just for little girls?

There were two little boys at the Tea Party that we went to. We had Peter Pan in addition to the princesses when we went, but I've heard he is not always there. I would say the Tea Party is geared more toward girls, although Peter Pan is quite funny and adds a more boyish perspective to the event.

HTH.

We had 2 - 10 year old boys (almost 11) and an 8 year old boy in our group and they seemed to enjoy the tea party...two were my sons :)

Sorry if this is a REALLY dumb question, but when you say they were giving out #12 when your DH and DD went through security... do you mean they had to board at a different time than you? Were you all able to board in group #3 even though they checked in at a different time?
