I am just now planning our vacation since DH didn't know what week he would be able to get away. We did Disney in the summer 2 years ago for vacation and it was nice - but it was HOT and not as nice as our previous vacation to Disney a few years prior when we were able to go in the fall. My husband doesn't want to do Disney in the summer again , but now that the kids are older (on in high school, and 2 in middle) they really can't miss any school to go. If we are going to spend all that money or airfare to get there - I always feel we need to stay at least a week to make it worth it . SO summer is really our only option. I would maybe be able to convince him to go back to Disney this summer but we now have 2 month old baby and he thinks it will be miserable for him. He thinks we should go to one of the del or MD beaches nearby. (still hot and hard with an infant) Also he thinks it will be harder on us with having to take turns sitting out of rides etc. to stay with baby. I feel as though any vacation is going to be harder with a baby and we could make it work if we just go at a slower pace and let the older kids go off to rides on their own etc (oldest two are 13 and 15).

So has anyone done this? I mean, I know there are babies that live in FLorida in the summer without air conditioning and survive - but this is supposed to be a vacation and be easy on us. (Beach sounds worse to me because I would have to cook - Disney I don't cook). Will the baby be miserable? Will we be miserable trying to keep baby comfortable? What should I do?

We did a very short (2day) wdw trip when visiting family in Fl when DD was 4 months old. It was June and very hot. DS was only 5 but DH and I took turns riding versus waiting with DD. And there are rides you can take a baby on. And shows. We survived by using a fan, keeping her in loose clothes, watching hydration and heading inside for the AC when the other half of us were riding non-baby rides.

I love wdw and love beach trips. Personally I would pick Disney. It would be so much easier to keep the baby cool and allow the family to have more fun together.
It will be hot, sticky and sandy at the beach. You can create shade but realistically how much time will you spend on the beach with an infant?
I just see more family time together at Disney. Plus no cooking. I guess you need to think about your vacation style at both places and see which would be more relaxing - for everyone, including you!

I took my son when he was 6 weeks old in August. The heat really had no impact on him at all.

took my daughters for their 1st b-day to Disney during the month of August and it was miserable the first few days while we changed our plans around. They were puking all the time from the heat but they still don't deal well with the heat. We kept wet face clothes to refresh them and made sure they were in the shade a lot. We found that taking time away from the park in the middle of the day to avoid the worse heat was best for us. That being said, we still had really nice vacation that I would pick any day before the beach. Yes it's hot, but honestly if you plan your day, it's not so bad. don't forget to use the Baby Centers to cool a bit during the day and it's a nice place to feed baby.

I vote Disney. Lugging crap, shade equipment and Food to the beach is a PIA. We just did a week in OBX and it can be work with a baby. My DD got a horrific sand rash to boot! and yes, you still need to shop, cook, clean etc... No vacation for mom. Take the baby to the beach next year when she is running all over and will enjoy water and sand but might be harder to contain at Disney. This year let the infant enjoy looking at colors, entertainers, balloons, shows, etc.... If you kid swap on rides the other kids get to go twice with the other parent (at least that is what happened for us.). And like you said the older two can still go off on their own. also, no cooking and cleaning is a huge plus for mom. I would plan going early everyday and give the little one a nap in the afternoon at the hotel. You can switch who goes back while the other parent enjoys the older kids. heck, maybe ALL the kids might want to go back for swimming.

I took my son at the end of July in 2008 he was 8 months. We took our godson last august at 7 months.

It is doable. WE kept a wet cloth and stroller fan with us.My favorite thing to do is people watch so sitting out rides never bothers me

We took our three month old in May and will be going back in late July when he will be 5 months. What we did (and will do again) is "wear" our baby so we had a good idea of when he was getting too warm. Whenever we felt he was getting overheated, we went into an airconditioned area (the baby care centers are great) and I nursed him. Also, we would go for a couple of hours in the morning and then head back to the resort for a break, we also have a 2year old so this was a great break for him. I think Disney is totally doable. Just dress baby in a onesie, load him up with sunscreen (I asked our ped and he recommended a couple of brands safe for babies that young), and cover with a hat while in the carrier. I did nurse a lot more often than when at home to keep his fluids up, but it provided us all with a needed break. I would def choose Disney over the beach.

We took DS when he was 6 months and my honest must have is a condo of villa with at least 2 bedrooms!!!! This is not the time to smash in to a standard hotel. You need a place to go with the baby at night where you won't be bothering everyone. The other thing for me was I HAD to distribute the work of the baby. After 3 days I was crying in the parking lot ready to go home because I was SOOOO tired.

I was up an hour later than everyone else, I was up 2X during the night and then up an hour earilier to feed the baby. When I gave up one of the feedings and got some sleep it was a lot easier but we were there in September and could afford to skip RD and sleep in if the kids did. Not sure that is the case for you.

Bottom line is it is doable but there may be days you stay in with the baby and rest while the rest of the family goes on without you.
