Cast: Me- Disney fanatic. Haven't been in ten years. Slighty obsessive, compulsive planner :rotfl2: Hoping this will come in handy.
dh- Never been to Disney. Hoping to turn him into a fanatic also! He calls this a "trip" not a vacation. He thinks it'll be fun, but not relaxing!
ds (6) Turning 7 while we're here. Hoping for a magical b'day. He's happy to be getting out of school for a week!
ds (4) LOVES Buzz Lightyear. We will be on a mission to find him.
ds (18 mos.) Along for the ride. Most worried about him, hope he'll cooperate and sleep well!

Where: 6 nights @ AKL in a Savana view room on Zebra trail.

Day1: We left Chattanooga @ 4:30 am. The kids slept in the car until we got through Atlanta. They probably would've slept longer except dh got pulled over for speeding! Ugh. Turns out it was a construction zone. Neither one of us thought to slow down, as no one was out working that early on a Saturday morning. Good grief. Not even out of Georgia and already out $100 bucks. WHne we got pulled over, my oldest said with his face all puckered up: "do we still get to go to Disney World?" Anyways, the trip was otherwise uneventful. Traffic was light and the kids did a lot better than anticipated. We stopped twice, once to fill up and the other for lunch at McDonalds.
We arrived at AKL @ about 1:45pm. Unfortunately our room wasn't ready for us yet. That place was bustling, by the way. We were really hoping to check in a room ,crash for a little bit, change clothes, etc. We ended up walking around the grounds, and checking out the resort. My boys managed to catch 5 or 6 lizards outside withing a few minutes of being there. They were in heaven! We checked out the pool and couldn't wait to get in. it was a high of 82 that day! We couldn't ask for better weather. Took the kids to the playground. Someone had asked at one time if there was a sand area by the playground and there is. I called at about 5 after 3 and our room was ready! We got bunk beds as I had requested and the view was terrific! There were always animals to see outside. It was a pretty long walk to the lobby, but very close to the pool, arcade, and Mara. It was perfect for us. We unpacked, changed into shorts and headed for the bus stop. We were going to Magic Kingdom!!!!!!!
We ran into our first snafu..... not major, but started us off on the wrong foot just a little bit. We were waiting in line for the bus. DH had the stroller and I was carrying the baby. We put the two older boys in front of us and told them to go ahead and board while we follow behind. Well, we got them on the bus, when the bus driver starts shouting "no! No!" Well, apparently we didn't see the sign in BIG RED letters that says DO NOT ENTER. Duh. We quickly figure out that although you can exit out of both doors you can only enter through one. I still don't see why he had to shout at my kids though. So..... here my boys are on the bus and the doors are shut so that we can't get on. Do you think there would be some nice people that would let us go ahead and board in front of them so we can get to our children?????? Noooooooo. We are in the back of the line while about 20 other people board in front of us. By this point My ds was in tears. I guess he was afraind that we wouldn't make it on the bus before it took off. They were also embarassed and are not used to people screaming at them like the bus driver did. I think the bus driver felt a little bit bad because he gave the boys both honorary bus driver badges. They got over it and we knew better the next time. I just didn't see the sign. A little too anxious, I guess.
The Magic Kingdom. Wow!!!!! The last time I was here, was 10 years ago when the castle was made into a giant b'day cake. It was soooooo tacky. The castle looks gorgeous now! It honestly took my breath away. Even dh was impressed. We had ADR's for CP at 5:30. We waited for just a few minutes and got to catch the tail end of Cinderallabration. What a great show. Dinner was good. We got pics with Tigger, pooh and Eeyore. Service was okay. They were EXTREMELY busy. We had time for just one ride before we got in line for Spectro. We chose Pirates. pirate: We waited in the stand by line for about 10 minutes or so. It wasn't bad. I was worried that ds1 would be scared, but he LOVED it. Laughted, giggled and clapped the whole way through. After that we watched Spectro. TIP: I had bought a bunch of those glow in the dark necklaces at the $$$ store before I left and brought them with me. It saved some $$$$ and the kids were happy with them. We did end up buying some light spinny things later in the trip, but these worked good and the kids were happy with them. Everyone loved Spectro and Wishes. I got a lttle choked up during Wishes. it was just so magical to be there with dh and kids in front of the castle. It was truly a magical start to our trip. Stay tuned for day 2: AK and dinner at Boma

Day 2: This is the day we planned to go to AK. We got there later than I wanted. I think we were all exhausted from the late night and traveling on day one. We still managed to get there about 30 minutes after opening. Boy was it CROWDED!!!!! Now..... every book I read said Sunday was an ideal day to tour AK, what we didn't take into consideration was the EE cast member previews going on. Even our bus driver commented on how the parking lot "looks like it does at Christmas!" Fortunately, it wasn't too, too bad, or at least we didn't notice it much after we got into the park. We headed first to dinoland. dh and boys rode DINOSAUR while ds1 and I checked the map. No need for a fast pass, they only had about a 5 minute wait. We did the other attractions in Dinoland including Primeval whirl. Okay.... that is not my favorite ride. I can do rollercoasters and I can do spinning rides, just don't combine them! LOL. We decided to go ahead and eat lunch. This turned out to be key for us. We ALWAYS ate an early lunch at about 11am. Today we ate at Flame tree bbq. It was pretty good except the buns were soggy. Dh and I each had bbq sandwiches, cokes and fries. The fries were not included on the dining plan. The meals did come with corn on the cob and beans though. My boys each had hot dogs, corn and beans. We also got dessert with the dining plan. The boys had chocolate cake, I had key lime pie (it was delicious!) and dh had a frozen lemonade. We sat in the little seating area overlooking discovery river. It was very peaceful and quiet. It had a great view of the people riding EE. Can't wait to ride it on our next trip. Okay.... next up was Kali River Rapids. What a fun ride!!!! Good thing it was hot (83 degrees) because we got SOAKED!!!!! We used the child swap and both boys got to ride twice while we took turns with ds1. They were not using fast pass on this ride today. Still it wasn't a bad wait, about 15 minutes. We then toured the Maharajah jungle trek. I got some great pics of the tigers and ds loved the Komodo dragon. Then it was on to Camp minnie and mickey. We got pics taken with Donald, goofy, minnie and Mickey. We stopped and ate some Mickey bars and then watched lion King. What a great show! Everyone loved it! Next we got fast passes for Kilimanjaro safaris and watched ttbab. Now, I had my reservations about this one. I heard so much about how scary it was. I had nothing to be worried about. My kids LOVED it. Dh did too. I saw all kinds of people getting up and leaving with their kids screaming. That wasn't the case with us. Even ds1 liked it and sat through the whole thing. TIP: He liked all the 3D movies, we just let him watch without the glasses. He wouldn't have worn them anyways, probably. It was time for KS. I'm glad we had fast passes. It was great. We saw TONS of animals, including the baby elephants. How cute. The story line really resonated with ds7. He talked about poachers for hours afterwards. LOL. We left just after the parade. Ds1 needed a nap and the kids wanted to swim. I wish we could have watched flights of wonder, but we just ran out of time. I think the kids would've enjoyed RPW, but we'll save that for another trip. We went back to AKL where dh took the boys swimming and I took ds1 back for a nap.

Dinner: Boma
I hope I don't get slammed for this, but I do not get what all the hype is about. Maybe we just hit it on an off night, or maybe we just have un adventurous tastebuds..... I don't know. To start off, we had PS at 7:00. After we waited 20 minutes, I kindly went up to the host and asked how much longer, the kids were getting antsy. After all, they ate early that afternoon. He went and checked and said that we should have been seated 20 minutes ago and if "they didn't find us a table within 5 minutes, someone was going home!" I wasn't that upset over it, just wanted to make sure they hadn't forgotten us. About 15 minutes later our buzzer went Off. Our hostess took us to our table only to find out that someone was already sitting there. We then followed her to the person who was making seating arrangements and witnessed the two of them arguing over where to seat us. Sheesh. AT this point I am thinking about us going to the Mara instead. Anyways, they find a place for us and we barely sit down before someone spilled a whole tray full of glasses. Glass was everywhere. I am beginning to think this is an omen. We get our food and I am just not all that impressed. I think it probably is good, but just not our kind of thing. The best thing there were the smoothies! Boma is one of the rare places that they ARE included with the dp. Anywhere else we went they were not. The Zebra domes and cheesecake were good too. We went back to our room and put the boys to bed and sat out on our balcony and watched the animals. Very peaceful.

Up next: Epcot and ds b'day at Chef Mickey's

Day 3- Wake up to a b'day call for DS from Goofy!Today we go to Epcot. We manage to get there just after park opening. I always had every intention on arriving before the parks opened, but we never quite seemed to make it. Maybe next Year! I head to Guest Services to get ds his b'day button and then straight to SE which is a walk on. Again, I am pleasently surprised that ds1 is kept entertained. He loved it! From there we go to JII with Figment. Walk on. No one and I mean No one is in the imageworks lab. It was nice as I can see where that place could get VERY busy at times. Then we do HISTA. Everyone loved it! DS1 even liked it, just without the glasses. I thought DS4 was going to come unglued at the part with the snake. LOL. Very enjoyable. By this point we're getting a little hungry. DH is in the mood for Mexican, sooooooo we head over to the Mexico Pavillion. We take some pics and ride El Rio De tempo. Pretty much anything with a boat my kids like! Then we eat at the San Angel Inn. We sat right down by the water and boat ride. It was great. Food was okay. DS got sung to for his b'day and they made him a little napkin hat. They also brought him a dessert. Gripe: We thought they would just count the smoothies that we ordered as our desserts since it was a TS meal. No luck, we ended up paying extra for them and still no dessert. Our fault though, we should have asked instead of assume. The night before they WERE included at Boma. Kind of confusing. We hadn't really planned on touring the WS today, but we just kind of did. My kids got really into the Kid cot stations and we had a great time. We visited all the countries and rode Maelstrom and watched The American Adventure. It gave me chills and made me very proud. Everywhere we went they sang happy b'day to my ds in their native tongue. In china the girl told him he was the year of the tiger and wrote his name and happy b'day in Chinese. The highlight of the day was in Italy. Sergio the mime/juggler chose ds7 out of the audience to assist him. It was great fun and he even had him take a little bow with him at the end. A man came up and tipped him $1 and EVERYONE wished him a HB. What a memory. We finished the WS (the kids got a prize at the end since they had visited all the countries) and headed back to Soarin. Dh and sons road while I tried to get the baby to sleep. After that we monorailed over to Chef Mickey's for dinner. We only had to wait a few minutes. They had a placemat signed for ds and brought him out a cupcake. The only bad thing was ds dropped his plate full of food at the buffet. I tried to tell him is was okay that it happens all the time, but he was still embarrassed. Got pictures w/ mickey, minnie, goofy, chip and dale. Originally when we got to CM we were tired and had decided to go back to the hotel. After resting our feet at dinner, we kind of got a second wind and decided to go ahead and watch illuminations. I was glad we did, because It was FANTASTIC. It was dh's favorite of the fireworks shows. When we got back to the hotel there was an autographed pic of mickey and pluto left for my ds as well as a magical moment certificate. Very special. All in all it was a fabulous day. Exhausting, but fantastic. Because it was such a long day today we decide to take it a little easier tomorrow. Stay tuned.
Next up Blizzard beach and Fantasmic.

Day 4- Okay. This is the last time I'm writing this. I've written it twice and then lost it. Argh. Here we go again..... We start off the day by going to BB. Now mind you, I am not a water park person. I never have been. I worry about drowning. I'm not a good swimmer and it just isn't my cup of tea. Dh on the other hand loves them. So..... we go. After all this is a FAMILY trip. I take the kids to Tike's peak while dh ventures the more adventurous slides. It's not long before ds7 wants to try some too. So off we go to find dh. They ride to the top on the ski lift and down he goes on the BIG slide. Not Summet plummet, but the one right next to it. Obviously he does not have my "fear of water gene." I was really proud of him. We decide that we're getting hungry after a few more trips down the slide. We stop for burgers and fries and of course.... more mickey bars. We're sitting there enjoying the scenery. Did I just say that???? I never knew so many people still wore speedos. Gross. I'm feeling more comfortable in my tankini. We finish lunch when literally the bottom falls out of the sky. It is pouring! What do we do???? Most people would run for cover. Not DH he says "well we're all ready wet." Grrrrr. Now, I get to have a sopping wet stroller. I plaster on a smile. After all we're in Disney. They manage to coax me on the family river raft ride. It was pretty fun. I actually enjoyed myself. My husband decided to try Summet plummet. He says this aboult it and wanted me to include it in my report. If you are constipated and need an enema, go down this slide. He said so much water was pushed up his butt that he had to make a beeline to the rest room. Only my husband! We dry off and head back to the hotel to change and let ds1 take a quick nap. Then we are off to MGM.

It was EMH evening at MGM, so it was pretty crowded. We decided to try ToT using the baby swap before we got our seats for Fantasmic. The boys went on twice. Once was enough for me thank you. It was really neat and all. I didn't get sick or anything, just don't especially like the feeling of free falling. My boys, of course loved it. I'm telling you the 4yo has really surprised me on this trip. No fear. Is that normal??? we settled into our seats for fantasmic. Can I just say I have seen parking lots smaller than that one that is used to park strollers. Wow! We got 4th row seats in the center. I was satisfied! What an amazing show! My kids were enthralled by it. I absolutely loved it. This was my favorite. It actually gave me chills! We ate some hotdogs, nachos, cotton candy and coke...... you knoe the staples! After the show we got our wristbands and stayed to ride Star Tours and M3D. Both were great. We caught the bus back to the lodge nad grabbed a quick bite to go at the Mara. We ended the day as usual.... putting the boys to bed and sitting out on our balcony and watching animals. Not speedos like at BB. Thank goodness!

Up Next: Magic Kingdom!

Enjoying your report! My 4 year old won't ride anything. He loves the shows. DS3 wants to ride everything but isn't quite big enough. How'd the little one sleep?

The little one slept so much better than I expected. I was so worried about it before we left. He would sometimes take a little snooze in his stroller in the parks. We'd usually go back mid day and dh would take the kids for a swim while I stayed with the baby and put him down for a nap. At night I really think he was so exhausted when we got in from the day that he literally crashed. We would go out on the balcony and leave the door cracked while the boys fell asleep. It worked great! I really worried for nothing, it turned out perfect! Thanks for reading

What dates were you at WDW.

I almost ended up in Chattanoga last weekend. Me and my husband were picking up a trailer in Huntsville Alabama. We live in WI. We drove HIghway 65 all the way down and around Nashville. When we were ready to leave the trailer dealership, a mechanic told us how much easier it is to go around the East side of Nashville, rather than the West side. Hello, we got so lost we were heading to Chattanoga. We turned around and came up the East side of Nashville and encountered so much road construction. I was ready to call that Mechanic and chew butt. The west side of Nashville had absolutely no construction.

Well, sorry for hijacking your thread, thanks for sharing your WDW trip.

I can't believe I didn't put what dates we were there. Duh. We were there from the 21-27th of january. Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the "scenic tour" of Tennessee. LOL

Loving the report. I was laughing so hard :rotfl2: with the idea of water up the butt. I know that will be my DH.

Day 5: Magic Kingdom

We had a relatively light day yesterday. Today was the day that I was most excited for. The Magic Kingdom is the epitomy of Disney World for me. We were there for the fireworks and dinner our first day, but we were going to spend a full day there today. We catch the bus at AKL and get the the MK by opening. Woo Hoo. We head staright for Fantasyland. We ride peter pan, dumbo, it's a small world, Pooh, and the teacups all with little or no wait. All were basically walk ons. We then get in line for Philarmagic. If there is one thing not to Miss in Disney it is this. Out of all the 3D movies, this by far is my favorite. I honestly felt as though I was flying. I can't wait to see it again. I hope it sticks around for awhile. All the boys could ride everything and they loved everything. My husband sat out on dumbo and the tea cups. He can't do anything that spins! After doing everything in fantasyland that we wanted to do we decided to grab a bite at Pinnochio's Village haus. I think we got pizza and the boys had turkey and cheese roll ups. Everything was good and we used our counter service credits for it. We headed for Tomorrowland. Rode Indy Speedway. That line moves way too slow. It wasn't bad, but surely can't imagine what it's like in the peak of summer with it as hot as it can be. Must be miserable. I let ds7 steer with me doing the gas. ds1 sat in the middle. I'm glad he has a few more years til he can drive. Thats all I have to say! dh did the same with ds4. We came in last. :guilty: Walked by space mountain and saw that it had only a 10 min wait. I sent DS7 and dh on that one. DS4 wasn't tall enough. We went searching for characters. We found them! We got pics with the incredibles and were waiting in line for Buzz when ds and dh caught up with us. Got pics taken with Buzz and then with Stitch. DS1 LOVED Stitch. We were rather disappointed that the Buzz ride was down for maintenence. It gives us an excuse to go back. DH took ds4 and ds7 on Stitch. I was expecting to hear the worst, but they really liked it. Dh was a bit grossed out by the chili dog smell. Tomorrow land was getting pretty crowded by this point, so we make out way into Liberty square and stop and grab a Mickey bar along the way! Boy those snack credits come in handy! We do Haunted Mansion, watch a little of the afternoon parade and then do Hall of Presidents. I thought for sure the boys would be bored and I'd have to take them out, but ds4 and ds1 took a little snooze. It worked out great. They were good to go again! We took off for Fronteirland. Bummed yet again to find out Splash is closed. It's closed just that one week we're there and reopens the day after we leave. Argh. Oh well. Yet another reason to come back. Did I mention test track was closed at Epcot? Those are 3 MAJOR rides. Oh well. It happens. We ride BTMR using the child swap. This is our favorite ride. We have lots of pics and video! We FP big thunder mountain railroad so we can ride again after dinner. We stop in the Saloon to get pics with woody and Jessie. They really interacted great with the boys and we got some great pics. We decided to eat at LTT. we didn't have ADR for this, but we stopped in right as they started serving dinner at 5 and got right in without a wait at all! This turned out to be our favorite dinner. The character interaction was the best we had all week. Each one stopped by out table two or three times. Lots of great pics and the food was FANTASTIC. I highly recommend this place and we will definitely be eating there again. One more time on BTMR and then we're off to catch a bus back to AKL. We had a bust day. We left before the fireworks, but we fit a lot in and ds1 was tired. dh took the boys down for an evening swim and I put ds1 down to bed for the night. When dh came up with the boys I went down for a dip in the hot tub. Ahhhhhhh.......... How nice. I also did a few loads of laundry. It was a great day.

Coming up: MGM and night out at EP without the kids!!!!

I just got through working a little bit on our disney scrapbook. It got me in the mood to add to the trip report, so here goes.......

Day 6- I can't believe that at this point we're already on day 6! I'm already getting sad about leaving tomorrow! Boo. Okay can't think about it, it's making me sad again. Today's plan was to head to MGM. We had only been there to catch Fantasmic and caught a few rides back on Tuesday, but we had a mission. Do you know what that was. Meet the POWER RANGERS. My 7yo was the most excited about this than anything elso on the trip. We got there at park opening. ds4 wanted to ride star tours again after riding it on Tuesday. Seriously, he kept asking every day to ride it. Even in MK. Umm... sorry kid, wrong park. So this time I rode it with him. It was great, didn't even get queasy. Left from there to the Streets of America to see...... drumroll please...... the POWER RANGERS. We were not disapointed! Those are some of the best pics we have of the whole trip. I have never seen my kids so excited to see any character. They drove up in this car with rock music blaring and each one of them stood and did fighting poses. The boys got their picture taken with each one. Hey.... I even got mine taken with the Red Ranger. It was awesome! We saw them for their first appearance and there was hardly anyone there. They spent a lot of time with them. It was great! A highlight of the trip. From there dh took the boys to play in HISTKMSA. They really liked it. Then we did the backlot tour and CC. Dh really enjoyed this. During the tour we went by streets of America where the PR were making there next appearance. It was a lot more crowded, so I was glad we caught them early! The boys were pretty well entertained as well. They liked seeing the star wars costumes at the end of the tour and the planes and stuff. After that we ran into Sully and MIke. That was awesome. PIctures didn't turn out so hot because the sun was glaring. BTW- They don't do autographs. I thought that was funny. We decided to eat at sci- fi drive in. Now I heard a lot of negative stuff about this place. I thought the food was fine, but the waiter seriously drove me nuts. It was rather relaxing though, because ds4 and ds7 were well entertained by the movie clips. Dh too for that matter. ANytime the TV is on, I am ingnored. Anyone else have that problem? I felt sorry for the people that weren't seated in an actual car. That kind of defeats the purpose. ANyways, so I go to order the kids food and I ask for pizza
Him: "what we don't have pizza. What are you talking about??"
Me: "Well, that's what's on the menu. Hello???"
Him: "give me that. That's a menu from Mama melrose." He goes to get another Menu.
Me: "Okay. Hot dogs"
Him: "WHat, we don't have hot dogs."
Me: "Look at the Menu."
Him: "That's from The Brown Derby"
Am I on candid camera?????
Me: "just tell me what you do have."

Sheesh. I was getting a little annoyed by this point. I finally ordered grilled cheese sandwiches and fruit and veggies for the kids. dh got a burger and I got....... I can't remember, but the food was good. We had cheesecake I think for dessert. The kids had sprites with glow cubes. We still have the cups and cubes and they get used A LOT!

Gripe: He kept trying to push alcohol. First off, we don't drink, second it was 11am. Everytime he came by he kept on and kept on. It was aggravating.

We left there after pulling the kids and dh away from the big screen and were off the the great movie ride. I liked it. Ds4 was like "is this as fast as this thing goes." I guess he'd been on enough "thrill rides" that this seemed a little lame to him. Oh well. We High tailed it after that to Indiana Jones stunt spectacular. It was good. DS7 was on the edge of his seat. Missed Extreme stunt show. It was cancelled due to someone getting hurt the day before. Darn. We really wanted to see it, but hope that person is okay. Saw buzz again and the green army men. They were pretty cool. Were going to do the Narnia exhibit, but decided to pass on it. Wanted to do Little Mermaid, but didn't get to. We headed back to the AKL. I wanted to get ds1 a nap before the sitter was supposed to come at 6. Dh took the boys down to swim again. I got everything ready for the evening. Got some take out from the Mara for the boys dinner. Chocolate milk, pizza, and chips. Pudding for dessert. The sitter from Kids nite out came right on time. I'll just say this...... She was not the most friendly/outgoing person. I don't know what I was expecting, but she wasn't it. It made me a little leery of leaving, but she seemed to be doing well with the boys. ds7 gave me a full report and said he really liked her, so I guess that is what counts. I left money for snacks and for the arcade. We ran to catch the bus. We decided to go back to Epcot. I love it there. I can't tell you how weird it was to be going without the kids and pushing a stroller. It was a lot easier to board the bus. That's for sure. We headed straight for soarin. I didn't get to ride the first day because of the baby. Tried to get fast passes, but guess what????? dh key to the world didn't work. Goody. Went to a CM and he helped us out by giving us a FP that would work for both of us, but said we would have to clear it up at guest services. Soo..... we head over to GS. Turns out my dh used his right hand when he entered the park. All week he had been using his left, because he had the baby in his right. Somehow that managed to throw off the biometrics or whatever it's called. Got it all straightened out and headed back to ride soarin. Wow! I loved it. What a great ride. I think there's too many warnings. It's really tame.
Headed over to WS. Made the mistake of not having any ADR's. We were out of luck. The only place that took us was the place in China. It was good, but not really what we wanted. Oh well. Shopped in Chinatown. I bought a beautiful dress. Very Pretty. Stopped and watched Illuminations again. It was great as always. I was starting to miss the kids. We waited till the crowds died down by shopping at Mousegear. We got some of the sour straw things for the boys and I bought a pretty photo album. dh got a Stitch T-shirt and a hat. Headed back to AKL. Up at the room all were asleep except for the oldest. Changed into our suits and went down to the hot tub. We were the only ones in it. Back up to our room, paid the sitter (way too much!) and relaxed on our balcony watching the animals for the last time. It was out last night. I know... sad isn't it??? It had just flown by.

Coming up: checking out, last day at MK and final thoughts.
