Disney Wish Maiden Voyage - News & Live Checkins

10 days at the Hyatt? I d on t believe there is any quarantine if you test positive at the port. You leave and are on the honor system?
This was on Facebook so I believe because they HAD to fly home they had to quarantine. Tho TBH not sure they go back and check so if you left not sure what they could do.

Lastly, we were one of the familys (400 ppl!) that were going to do a b2b but our son tested postive (as did about 100 other people that were going to do b2b) so a full refund lately we were driving home and missing our DVC 3 night cruise. DCL was completely overwhelmed with how many tested positive they said they have never had that many people test positive. 20 staterooms they had to get luggage from and bring down to people. I was just glad we drove because if you were flying they put you up in the Hyatt for 10 DAYS?!

Ask away!
This is a little concerning as we have a B2B in less than 2 weeks. We definitely don't want to not be able to sail the second leg but with Covid ramping up...............who knows.

yeah I'm not sure what I would have done differently. I saw on Facebook that a family that masks routinely also missed the b2b.

Just off MV, happy to answer questions. We were 2 adults and 2 young adults (20 and 22). Less than 100 kids on the boat and the rest was not to capacity. With our dynamic we didn't do any of the kids clubs though my kids went in Vibe and said it was cool, but smaller (with no pool). I agree here the Quiet Cove was overrun with adults but this was a weird cruise so I think that may settle out over time. That said I did enjoy the area everyday, people will share their sitting area so if you want to be by the bar and pool just wait a few minutes. Food is crazy good! The MDR are so good! The quick service BBQ is ridiculous good and the pizza is great! There is a taco/bowl area that seemed to be a hit because of the line but I didn't try it. 1923 MDR was my favorite but then I'm a little over the shows at dinner.

Agree the layout is confusing since it is a completely different layout but I guess we will learn over time. Things are more in 'pockets' rather that areas. For example no adult district anymore just random bars around places (and yes they all close at midnight except for Bayou which is 1am) I still shake my head that they close down and leave adult money on the table, there were adults everywhere and they still shut it down. Oh well.

Luna is the 'new' Tube so thats where variety shows are. Get there early. Its not a lot of seating.

wow, so 25% of the people doing a b2b tested positive! If that’s not an eye opener I don’t know what is. We were going to do a b2b next month, but dropped one cruise because of the high rate of positive people. I hope DCL takes a look at these numbers. I hate to see how many CM test positive too.

Another quick observation for those going soon, there are a lot of service people that are new to Disney. Not necessarily new to cruising but new to Disney.

Yes it is. My family will be doing a B2B starting Aug. 5th. I guess that is what we get for doing a B2B....if it was a 7 day cruise you wouldn't be testing in the middle of it. Oh well. Fingers crossed.

I mean if I am flying but I am willing to rent a car to drive home do they still force you to stay in the Hyatt? Do they test you to disembark or only because you were doing b2b?

yikes, good luck. We like the longer cruises, so haven’t jumped on the wish yet, but would’ve been doing a b2b too. My next b2b on the fantasy is Oct/Nov.

One thing that someone mentioned was that the MV was very "teen and adult heavy" Which would make sense considering the original kids that sailed on the line are adults now.

I'm excited to hear from more trip reports on other voyages to see if the spaces end up truly being too small. Time will tell.

Is it possible that people with young kids simply didn't book the MV due to the uncertainty about Covid last year and vaccinations not being available to that age group yet? I mean, it has to have had some effect? I'm guessing the other ships sailing now with more kids onboard could have been more last minute/recent bookings, but that MV had to be booked last year and there were no refunds/changes allowed, right?

I know for us (and my kids are college age but it still applies) I booked without them because it was during the school year originally. With the date change they could have gone but we didn't even attempt at that point.

I sail august 5th and was wondering if you can get a bourbon in the speakeasy in hooks Barbery without getting your hair cut or having an appointment? Just like to see the ship.

So, there actually is, if you flew in. The airlines will not let you fly for 10 days if they KNOW you tested positive. This just happened to my friend. She was visiting her parents and tested positive the day before she was set to fly home (United). When she called to change her flight, they would NOT let her book a flight for sooner than 11 days after her test. They were pretty adamant that if she tried to check into a flight sooner than that, she needed a doctor's note clearing her to fly. They did change her flight without penalty or a rebooking fee, but that was the stipulation for them doing so. She could have cancelled her flight and rebooked it without calling to tell them the reason, but she would have been out hundreds of dollars.

I'm guessing part of DCLs protocol for people who test positive during a cruise and have to fly home includes this mandatory hotel quarantine since they rearrange your flights home for you (thus the airline is made aware of the positive test). This is not the first time I've heard of this happening. To be fair, DCL is covering this expense, likely as a way to keep people from suing for contracting Covid onboard. The goodwill gesture goes a long way.

A couple of pictures of places I really liked on the Wish and I spent a lot of time in.
First is cove cafe, which I think is smaller than in the Fantasy but it's very nice.. this place was super busy in the mornings (pic was very early in the AM, like 6.30) one of the CM's was in training so lines were crazy long at times.
Second one is above cove cafe, deck 14 aft, which has amazing views and very comfy seats... even a couple of couches in the shade which were claimed most of the day by smokers.. you can't even notice the smell because the area is so wide open the smoke fades away quick.. my favorite area on the Wish, the sunrises and sunsets from there are astonishing...
Will post more later.

This is actually the first time that I've heard of DCL paying for the hotel or rearranging the flights for a positive Covid-19 test at Port Canaveral. I'm sure that they handled this sort of thing in Canada and in Europe, where the laws demanded it, but not at PC.

I wonder if it's because these were back-to-back passengers and so Disney knows that they contracted Covid-19 during the cruise? But, I do remember reading at least one other post on this board where a B2B passenger tested positive and missed the second cruise and Disney had to go and pack his luggage. So, I don't know. Maybe they're just trying a new thing?

I feel like I read a post recently where someone said a bunch of people were put on buses at the port after disembark to be "taken to a hotel to quarantine." I suppose maybe these could have been international passengers? Who knows. However, I think they also mentioned that these people had sought care from the medical center during the cruise, so they were flagged and quarantined during the sailing as well. It does appear that DCL is handling *some* infected passengers this way.

Maybe? They used to just put you on a bus back to MCO or to a local hotel, but you had to pay for the hotel.

just curious if he had any symptoms? Or were you just blindsided?

Yes. You can just stop by and order. The old fashioned is smoked and cost $20.

I do think it must have something to do with B2B. If you test positive at embarkation and denied boarding — DCL has not been providing any quarantine, but will provide transportation back to Orlando if needed to a hotel or rental car.

Those testing positive onboard are a different story and I have read DCL is sending them to quarantine hotel at debarkation. A B2B party is likely considered with those positive onboard.

ETA: to my knowledge, DCL does not report positives to the airlines. However, if you ask the airline to change your flight, the airline could then insist it be 10 days later. Likely airline policy.

Someone posted that part of their traveling group (friends, I guess) had some positive tests during the cruise and "Disney took care of everything" for them, meaning paid for whatever they needed in terms of hotels or rental cars or whatever. This was recent.
