Disney Wish Maiden Voyage - News & Live Checkins

How did you feel about the overall layout of the family oceanview? Did your room have the huge porthole with the seat?
The layout felt ok, but the room seems narrower than on other ships. The space at the end of the bed is tighter than it should be. The bathroom also felt narrower. The storage was fine - 3 closets, full length on both ends and shelves in the middle. There are a few smaller drawers in the main living area.

The fridge is a sliding drawer. It felt smaller and was full with only 4 Dasani water bottles.

We had the Murphy bed and it seems they upgraded the mattress. It definitely felt better than other ships but perhaps that is because it is brand new.

The glass door to the shower was a nice upgrade. The bathroom and living area mirrors also have frame lighting, which was a nice touch.

As for the window, we had a very large window but there is no seat, meaning there is no padding in the window. You can sit there, but it is hard and not comfortable. That was disappointing.

There also aren’t many of these rooms on the ship. Only at the very far aft and forward. We were aft so we did a lot of walking to get to our room because the aft elevators/stairs are more like midship.

Won’t the the same number of adults be on all the other cruises? The number of kids will increase but I highly doubt the number of adults will be decrease by much. The adult areas are still going to be crammed.
Adults travelling with kids don’t spend nearly as much time in the adult only pool area as adults travelling without kids do.

It isn’t so much the number of adults that makes the adult areas crowded, it’s the lower number of kids. This was certainly true on our Panama Canal cruise. The all ages pool wasn’t very busy but the quiet cove pool was people soup.

Do you have a picture of your cabin and the number? We are booked in a forward cabin for November and wondering what it looks like. Thanks.

I somehow managed not to get a picture of the room. I was too busy taking photos of all the other spaces! We were in 8678.

I would say it looks the same as the dream/fantasy except all the colors are blue or brown. The couch is a dark blue and the wood in the room is more grayish/brown. The blanket on the bed is cream. Less classic and more modern colors. Ours was Sleeping Beauty themed. No pillows in the room except for those for your head.

From looking in open doors as we walked the long walk back to our room, the room colors are all the same. So you could do a Google search and find some photos of any of the rooms to get an idea.

But adults travelling with kids won't do as much "adults only" stuff

With all the reviews and reactions dropping in, the consensus seems to be:

Pros:
- The Wish is beautiful
- The food is better
- The new shows are amazing (both new shows, right?)
- Dinner shows are very good (or is it just Frozen, and Marvel is too many screens?)

Cons:
- Confusing layout (Hard to solve, next drydock)
- Adult areas are small (Hard to solve, next drydock)
- No promenade (Hard to solve, next drydock)
- Lack of storage space in stateroom (Can be solved, but not the easiest to solve)
- Lack of snacks (Can be solved)

In the middle:
- Aquamouse

Does this sound about right?

Personally, I would put both new shows in the Cons category.

What didn't you like about them? It seems most everyone loved Little Mermaid.

I thought the story line itself was a little ridiculous, the acting was not very good at all and the set design was crowded and confusing. Even the singing was below what we're used to seeing in Disney shows.

We were not at full capacity. Concierge said that maiden voyage and dvc are sailing with 2,750 passengers.

Pros:
-Palo and Enchante have tables where everyone can have a view of the ocean
-Exchante dinner collection was amazing if you can spare a few hours
-Better food in the other restaurants (family loved 1923 and marvel meals)
-Loved the princess theme in rooms and looking on the deck floors
-Cast members using your phones to take pictures with characters.
It was hard doing selfies on your phone at times
-Merchandise restocked in stores throughout out the day
- New broadway shows
-Main theater and wonderland theater so pretty
-Fireworks from pirates day
-Jodi benson performing
-Arendelle show had characters coming to you if you were not a table by the stage
- Internet so much better now than doing mb. I was able to use apps and surf the net, send emails out.
- Photos are faster getting on your phone
-sail a wave party back

Cons
-Narrow sizing in room hard to maneuver even with the extra square feet
-Lack of storage spacing and not enough hangers
-Certain elevators go only to to deck 11, its annoying if you want to go higher, you would need to elevator hop and press up again on deck 11 or climb the stairs. Not friendly if anyone has mobility issues in their party
-Mickey's mail sail had a waitlist you could put your name on if an item you wanted wasn't available. They were not contacting people as I put my name down on a few items and later saw those sizes available in the store. So just keep checking
-Senses spa is a hot mess. Certain bookings like hydration and zero gravity were not properly being transferred over so people were getting regular couples massages in a regular suite.
-Tv is now mounted to the wall near the queen/king size bed. So if any members in your party are sleeping on the murphy or bunk beds they need to view from an angle
-You need to put a card to be able to access lights in your room. If you leave it in their pushed down the host will prop it back out. It's annoying when you want it to run 24/7
-theaters and lounges are smaller
more high end shops that sell watches, jewelry, scarves.
-didn't mention on app anything like tours of the ship
-wasn't a fan of the new pirates party
-marvel show was not that great you can watch it on youtube
-Arendelle show was nice but if you were not by the stage you definitely are going to get a blocked vision throughout the show when servers are placing things down and taking orders
-no shows in the main dining rotations if you had extra visits.
-hyperspace is a one and done activity. it just shows images switching over periodically.
-Shower doors. so many times bumping into them
-layout of ship no walking path no mid elevators
-You have to click on one photo at a time to download on your phone
-not the same vendor with clothing so sizes are way off
-not everyone got the same stateroom gifts and it felt like you got a different answer with guest services.

We didn't find this to be a problem. It only seemed to control the lights. No need for them if you aren't in the room.

Tip: Bring a spare card from some previous cruise/hotel stay and put that in the slot rather than one of your room cards.

This is true on all DCL ships. They don't want you running lights and other appliances 24/7 because it wastes fuel. That's the whole point.
It’s actually not true on the classic ships, but the intent is the same. The purpose of the card is to save electricity by not lighting the room while you’re out. Just like they also ask you not to leave the verandah doors open so you can, as my father would say, air condition the outside.

I used a spare card and placed that into my slot card but my room host always kept propping the card back up.

Well, it's certainly true on the Dream and Fantasy. So, it's not new to the Wish. There's no reason to leave the card in when you aren't there.
