My husband and I booked a trip to Disney about 3 months ago and and we found out 5 weeks ago that we are expecting our fist child :goodvibes I will be about 6 months pregnant during our 9/29 - 10/5 trip and we are staying at CSR.

Has anywone gone to Disney while pregnant? Will we still have a good time?

By the way...I was scheduled to run in the twilight zone tower of terror 10 miler  with my sister in law. I have since canceled that

About the race- good idea :lmao: and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Absolutely you can have a wonderful time at WDW while you are pregnant, so long as your doctor has given you a clean bill of health. And you'll be well past the morning sickness/horrible fatigue phase of your pregnancy as well.

DD and her DH were at WDW during her pregnancy and they had a ball. She was mindful of the warnings and stayed away from those rides that had them. But truthfully she was more than happy to put her feet up and rest in the shade with a bottle of water while her DH rode the attractions that she couldn't go on.

Just remember that it will still be hot while you're there. Drink lots of fluids, rest whenever you need to, get those swelling-prone feet elevated whenever you get the chance, and make your DH give you a really good foot rub with peppermint lotion every night!

Good luck!

As long as you are feeling well and everything looks good, definitely do-able. I went when i was about that pregnant with my first. My feet did hurt quite a bit from the walking, but we had a ball. We actually decided to stay at a monorail resort for that trip just in case getting around was difficult for me. I don't know that it was necessary, but it was definitely easy. The one thing I would say is to be flexible, take lots of breaks and stay hydrated. We had a special dinner at Victoria & Albert, which was great. Obviously I wasn't able to go on some of the rides, but it was not a big deal. One or two my husband rode alone (Mission Space, as I recall, and maybe Space Mountain) and I just hung out and enjoyed a break. Pregnancies are full of surprises, and we were thinking of going back this time while I am pregnant with #2 so our son could have one more Disney trip before baby, but I have since been put on a travel restriction, so that went out the window. We just shifted the trip to January instead. So I would so plan to go and have a ball, but know that plans can change when it comes to pregnancy. Those baby's have a mind of their own.

We went when I was 7 weeks pregnant (due at the end of July). I was MISERABLE the whole time and wished I would have just stayed home. I was sooo sick the first 4 months of my pregnancy with nausea/vomiting. That being said, I would definitely go at 6 months. At 6 months I felt great, had plenty of energy, and wasn't getting sick anymore. I say go and plan to take more breaks as needed. Remember to stay hydrated and check ride signs before getting on. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :goodvibes

Congratulations! Yes you can...I was about 5 months pregnant last time we went. Wear comfortable shoes and take it slow and you will do fine. There are plenty of shows, great eats, and tons to see.

My wife and I had a blast for our Disney "babymoon". We just modified the agenda a bit and, ultimately, ended up doing things that we never would have done had she been able to ride the rides.

We spent all day looking through every nook and cranny of Epcot's World Showcase. We played Disney Miniature Golf. We watched all of the shows at Hollywood Studios. We ate a ton of Dole Whip!

Have a great time!

Totally doable! I was about 5 months pregnant when we went 4 years ago. My hips got sore from all of the walking. As long as I drank plenty and rested some, I was fine!

Congratulations!

We went in May, and I was about 5 months pregnant at the time. We had a great time taking it slow, and enjoying the sites, sounds, and smells. As others have said, there are some rides that you will not be able to do, but there are so many things that you still can do while you are there. Drink LOTS of water, take breaks, and sit down when you get tired. That is the only way I made it through. It was so humid when we were there, that even with comfortable shoes, my ankles were swollen, and made walking a little uncomfortable. Luckily, DH is very patient and was more than willing to sit anytime I needed to. Also, make use of the swimming pool in the heat of the afternoon. It really helps!

Have a great time!

I went with my last pregnancy and I am going again in September with this one! Like others have said...keep your feet up (literally) because all of that walking in the heat can cause some nasty swelling. Also...lots of water. I personally didn't take ANY chances with ride that had restrictions, however I have heard that people go on Safari most of the time. It seems confusing about what ride have the pregnancy restriction, however I have learned that anything on the park map that had a red triangle in the description are the ones to skip. Enjoy all of the great food, however be mindful to blue cheeses and Bearnaise type sauces that can contain raw egg at those sit down restaurants. I personally also avoid most "salads" on buffets.... macaroni, potato. I am also a freak about meats...no cold cuts, hot dogs, sausages, under cooked steaks. Even after all of what I avoid, there is still plenty of yummy goodness to indulge in!!

Also...I wouldn't throw in the towel yet in the race (you can't get your money back anyways) I would maybe consider it and try to walk it. I ran goofy this last year (before I got pregnant) and was hoping to run throughout my whole pregnancy. After the last few weeks of morning sickness and then a horrible cold on top of it I have taken some time off, but will probably start running again this week. As long as you are very careful to not push it and watch your footing I think it very healthy to run "for two"! :cool1: If you don't feel comfortable and/or your doctor doesn't give you the green light to run, then I would at least go as a spectator. I love cheering people on from the sidelines. It is really an awesome experience...AND there will be plenty of your WISH team out there in green to cheer for!!

Last but not least...CONGRATS!!!! :cheer2:

Congratulations!

I went with both pregnancies. It was fine! We still joke about how I ate my way around the world and DH had drinks in every country in Epcot.

Thank you everyone for all of your advise....It sounds like we will still have a great time as long as I take it slow. DH will be happy to hear we can take it slow:rotfl2:

My wife and I went at 7 1/2 months and she did great. We went in March 2011 and DS1 was born in May 2011. I pushed her in a wheelchair most of the time as I wanted her to relax and not overstress herself. She did great and we'd recommend going. Of course, check with your pedi to make sure you're physically ok to take any type of trip; we did.

As a nurse I can tell you that you should be fine with all of the PP's good tips about hydrating and keeping your feet up. Also, if you feel any strain, rent a wheelchair for your husband to push if necessary. Wear a hat and sunglasses to keep the sun off of you. Otherwise the exercise will be good for you. There are, however, a lot of rides you should not go on. All of the 'Mountain' rides, Ex. Everest, Kali rapids, ToT, R'n'R, and even the Safari can be very bumpy according to where you sit in the truck. The further back you sit, the worse it is. I've seen guests almost bounce out of the truck, believe it or not (one was a friend of mine)! Of course, the Star Tours simulator is very bad. Mission Space and Test Track are also on the Bad List. This may sound like a lot, but when you think about how many great things there are in WDW, you still have more than enough options for enough to do for a great vacation. I hope your trip is just wonderful! And, Congratulation on the baby! :cloud9:

We went 6 years ago when I was 36wks pg w/ #5 in June (I'm always overdue, so dr wasn't too worried about pre-term labor). I worked out a lot my entire pg in preparation for the trip. It paid off b/c I did fine and didn't even get a wheel chair. Yes, I was tired and hurting a few times, but overall, it was great. Our youngest was 3 at the time, so there was plenty of stuff that he couldn't ride either. Dh and the other 3 kids would do the stuff that we couldn't. We were both able to go on plenty of the little baby rides and see the shows. It worked out well. Would I do it again? probably not 36wks along, but I imagine it's probably easier than going our 7 kids now....the youngest being 1yo when go in Dec. I think you'll be fine at 6ms along. That was always the easiest part of pg for me.

CONGRATULATIONS!! :cheer2:

I think this is something that really varies not just from person to person but each pregnancy.

If you ask me with my first, I was throwing up and swollen until an hour before giving birth.

With my second I was running around all 9 months full of energy and glowing..

Hopefully your pregnancy will be like my second one and you will be full of energy!

Regardless, you can always do more resort time and less park time and still have an amazing time being immersed in the Disney atmosphere.

The only big negative is no alcohol for you.. .LOL

Congratulations!!!!!
I went when I was pregnant with both my sons and both trips were definitely doable and fun, but if I had them to do over again, I likely wouldn't have gone on either trip. As a side note, I had one of the easiest pregnancies ever and one more difficult but no major issues. I felt "left out" because there were several rides I couldn't go on. I love walking, strolling and exploring for hours which I couldn't do without being tired, hot or irritable.

It really depends on how you vacation and what works best for your situation. Again, congrats!!! :yay:

I guess I may be the only naysayer here. Keep in mind that I am 6 months pregnant with twins right now, so I am not having an ideal pregnancy experience :lmao:

Things to consider:

1) Having a baby is costly. A trip to Disney is costly. I would rather buy baby things or save to take my future children to Disney. (That is our financial situation, though)

2) You may feel pretty good (like I did my first pregnancy) or you may feel like crap (swollen, constipation, hemmorhoids, have to pee constantly, morning sickness-some people have it the ENTIRE pregnancy, UTI, etc.). I am able to handle say going to a festival for a few hours but walking around every day for several days in a row would be not so much fun. Any symptoms you do have will be exacerbated by walking around in the heat.

3) You can't do a lot of things. Again, it's a lot of money to pay to sit in the Tiki Room or Hall of Presidents. JMHO
(I know you can do more than that, but still limited)

4) The travel to and from could be a problem. Sitting in a plane or a car for that long can be not comfortable.

5) How close are you to YOUR doctor/midwife/hospital? How does your insurance cover you there?

6) Your immune system is down during pregnancy...lots of germs in Disney.

7) Your pregnancy could be totally uncomplicated or you could go in for your 20 week ultrasound and be told NOT to travel by your doctor...this may be too close to your dates to cancel for a full refund, so hopefully you have travel insurance that would cover this.

8) Again, the trip may be fine and fun as some others have commented. I am sure that if I went when 6 months pregnant with my first, it would have been doable and fun...but it would have been less than "ideal," and I am just not willing to shell out that kind of money for an "okay" vacation or a limited vacation.

ETA: Some tips if you do go...get really good shoes...take lots of breaks...drink lots of water...consider buying a Pregnancy Cradle or harness or some other type of belly support...if you are wearing dresses at all or are not a tiny woman buy some kind of chafing gel.
