Disney while 8 mos pregnent ??

I know you mentioned going when the baby is one or two months, but remember that it's still pretty early at that point. You might not even be feeling up to a big trip, with healing and all. Not to mention, dealing with having two kids for the first time! It can be a little overwhelming at first. If you wait a couple more months, you are more likely to enjoy it. And they still are pretty flexible at that point!

Okay, I'm done now!

I went in Sept when I was 8 months with my dh and my 2 year old dd. It was an incredible vacation! We took our time and used the pool a lot. It was nice to do disney at a leisurely pace. Most of all, it was a celebration for us....our last trip as a family of 3. I have such great memories of that trip and it was so nice to give my dd that time alone with her parents before the new baby came. It was by far one of my favorite vacations.

I did it in May at 5 months. The weather was good, a little hot, but not horrible. The trouble I had was all the walking! After the first couple of days, I started getting a pain in my right side. It was just muscle pain and walking aggravated it. DH wanted to get me a wheelchair, but I absoultely refused! Otherwise, it was fun and although I love the thrill rides, I still got to ride my favorites (Pirates & Peter Pan)! I did get a little jealous though...

let me start by saying that we were there last sept when it was RIDICULOUSLY hot, yet i saw tons of expectant mothers trudging the parks.

it depends on the "mom-to-be", i guess. i had easy pregnancies and i felt great - huge, but great ;) -all through them. if it were me, i would totally go! as a pp mentioned, there are doctors and hospitals in orlando. if you stay onsite, you can easily go from parks to resort to rest. and, it might be a great opportunity for you to bond with dd before the new baby. the ease-of-traveling factor will change with another child (esp a newborn) - trust me!

i say go for it or wait until baby is older - like one.

p.s. CONGRATULATIONS!

I went to the Biltmore Mansion at 8m pregnant. That place is a LOT of walking, and we took a behind the scenes tour to boot. I was exhausted and sore after 4 hours of walking. Went back to the hotel and was down for the count. So I would not go down there that pregnant. Either push it up a few months (2nd trimester traveling is so easy) or wait much later. JMO.

Congrats!!

I personally would go sooner, or after baby is born. All that walking, hot weather, sweating, swollen ankles. Its gonna be hard on your body IMO, but lots of women do it, its just not for me!!! I would rather go when I can really enjoy it, and all the rides.. Have fun with what ever you decide, and if you do go, make sure you remember to drink LOTS of water!!! Congrats on your pregnancy too!!!

JMO--I'd still go, but if you don't already have a minivan or an SUV with a 3rd row seat, I'd rent one. I don't think a pregnant woman who is in good shape should have problems. Rest a lot. Take lots of breaks. Moving up and back vacations is a lot easier said than done. I wish we had done something like this for dd1 when our son was born. Perhaps then she would not have tried to dump him out of the bassinet.

My DD is just a few weeks older than your DD and we just had our second DD last July. We went when I was 30 wks on a very spur of the moment trip (late April). The weather was great and I enjoyed the laid back approach as did my then 3 yr old. I work out every day and did in both pregnancies right up til delivery but I still wouldn't have wanted to be in hot FL that pregnant. My first pregnancy I felt great right up til delivering on my due date but this time around I got miserable with a lot of annoying pregnant things (numb hands, no sleep, sciatic pain, lots of swelling) about 36 wks until DD was born just hrs before her due date. I think I wouldn't have wanted to take two kids until the baby was a few months old either. Adding a second baby was a bigger adjustment than I expected although one I wouldn't trade for anything:lovestruc .

First of all, Congrats!

I would hesitate for two reasons...one is the heat. It is very hot. I know with DD I was very hot the last month of pregnancy (April) in Michigan and I can't imagine doing that in the Florida heat outside for most of the day.

Number two would be just the aches and pains you get that last month. You don't want to be there and then stuck in the hotel because of some pains.

Can you reschedule for May/June? I think going with a newborn wouldn't be that bad either. They sleep a lot, love the sling, and food is easy.

KUP on your plans. :)

We're thinking about a trip in May as # 2 will be here around Halloween and would like to squeeze in one finally trip as a family of three.

What rides would you think are OK for my wife at 4-5 months ?

Thanks in advance ......

I went at 34 weeks. It was our honeymoon trip (doc said I could never get pregnant surprise found out 6 months into planning my wedding:rotfl2: )

I was fine. I just took it easy when I needed to. We always went back to the hotel in the afternoon and took a swim I found it helped my back feet legs feel better took a nap and the went back out around 3ish. My Doctor said if we were going to drive down we would need to stop every hour for 15 mins so I could get out and stretch my legs so I wouldn't get a clot. We decided to fly. I bought and wore crocs the entire trip. As for rides I went on everything without a restriction I did go on the safari ride at AK. Also get copies of your medical records from your OBGYN a list of medications etc... If you fly you will just need a letter from the dr. saying it is okay. Good luck have fun and take the trip this will be the last trip with your baby girl before she's a big sister.

I went when I was pregnant with my first and I was 7 months. I had not a problem and felt fine the entire time, even with the heat. The only difference was not going on the rollercoasters. Unless you have sickness, I would totally go again in a heartbeat.

As a mom of preemies, I would caution going that late in your pregnancy and in this FL heat....I live here...it is HOT in Sept.
Because my girls were preemies, I know a lot of other moms who had a great first pregnancy and then had a preemie. You just never know. yes, hospitals are here, but if that ever happened, you would be making long term plans to be here in FL.

Bringing a baby at two months old is another concern. It will be RSV season, yes Florida also gets RSV. We are at Disney often because we only live a couple hours away. In the winter season, my girls always come back sick.

I would go earlier or when you next child is 5-6 months old.

Not trying to be negative, but I have a different view and perspective about pregnancy and newborns vs. vacation.

What ever you choose....have a great time.

I was 34-35 weeks pg with my third when we went to WDW this past December. It was a 3 hr flight from CT.
My midwife and doctor both said just to stretch my legs throughout the flight and take it easy during the trip, but that there was no reason to cancel or reschedule.
I flew with Southwest which was no problem at all.
It was December, so it wasn't too hot, and we took it easy.. went swimming, took naps, etc. It was a blast! I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Whatever you decide - make sure you book something that has a liberal cancellation policy. You just never know what will happen. If you plan on going when you are pregnant, what if you have problems with edema or nausea or whatever? If you plan on going when the baby is 1 or 2 months old, what if the baby has colic? Or what if you end up having a csection and can't go.

I was terribly sick with both my babies and had edema bad. Csections with both. With my daughter, I tried doing too much too soon and ended up on a second round of pain pills and back to limited mobility. I could not have traveled pregnant or with my kids at 1 or 2 months of age. Everyone is different, but you never know what could happen.

Oh man, the thought of it makes me cringe. I was so big and so blazing hot all the time, I just can't imagine that heat and being pregnant.

I would go earlier or after the baby myself.

Could you go in May instead?

Dawn

NO WAY! Go earlier or after the little one arrives but skip the 8+ months pregnant...especially that time of year!

We went late August/early September last year and I WASN'T pregnant and the heat/humidity KILLED ME! My feet were sooooo swollen that I had to get new shoes 2 sizes larger mid trip! I can not imagine that you would have an ounce of fun plus it could be dangerous for your health.

CONGRATULATIONS!

I went last year to Disneyland when I was 6 1/2 months pregnant with my son. I did just fine! I ran it by my ob and he said it was fine to go on the rides. I ran for my entire pregnancy too, so the walking around the park all day didn't bother me at all. I went on the teacups, star tours, buzz blasters and they were totally fine! I did sit out on the roller coaster type rides though.

No way would I want to go! But, then again I have had high risk, complicated pregancies! And, Ive also had a premature baby! I was so exhausted all the time, espeically at the end, just big and umcomfy, and I felt a lot of the physical discomfortt a lot earlier in my 2nd pregnancy.

I would either, plan the trip so it fits nicely in your 2nd trimester (May is a nice time to visit) OR wait until the baby is a little older. My 2nd was very collicky, (even still at 9 months), but we took her then anyways, and it was the BEST vacation i think I ever had. It was a great age for her, and she was so into looking at things she forgot to scream all the time :lmao:

Its not as if you are going to a third world country. THey have Doctors and hospitals in Orlando that I'm sure are sufficient. :)
Unless you have special restrictions, I'd just go!

I wouldn't worry about giving birth in Orlando. I'd worry about going into labor on the road. But I worry about things that normal people don't think about.
